Hi, I have recently opted out of Roon and have downloaded the most recent JRiver. I have a NAS drive and am using the Ethernet (which I prefer) connection. I have a mixture of DSD, hi res and red book. I have enabled the WDM feature. I am having problems swapping between album types where I get a lot of white noise. Also the only driver I can see is Kernel for the Devialet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I've been a lurker in these forums for some time, and I've just started to be a little more active. I hope you'll be able to help me with my problem. I've recently picked up a secondhand Sonore MicroRendu. It's running Ver 2.6 firmware, and I've managed to get it to play music via its Squeezelite app. However, that's not what I wanted it for. I've also got a Gieseler Klein II, and I'm enjoying the exploration of DSD. I think Squeezelite supports DSD over DoP, but I haven't been able to get LMS to see dsd files, so not sure how that works. My music is sitting on a Proliant Microserver (no music server running on this) on the same network The resources that I have been able to find say that the DLNA app should work with JRiver. It seems to be pretty patchy - I can get it to appear in JRiver if I restart the DLNA service after starting JRiver. I can get JRiver play to the mRendu by configuring the DLNA options, but no music comes out and it skips to the next song after 10 or so seconds. This happens whether it's mp3, flac or dsd. There were some cryptic comments the creator on the Sonore forum at computeraudiophile that suggested that the Klein worked with ver 2.3, but not from 2.5 onwards: It's not exactly same and in fact it's very different. That DAC requires that the operating system load its USB firmware when the unit boots. It's a mess to get it to work and It works on 2.3, but not on 2.5. I had messaged @Gieseler Audio earlier in the day, and Clay suggested that another of his customers had managed to get it working (but with further knowledge, maybe that was ver 2.3?) So I swapped over to my Schiit Modi 2 uber (which apparently has some compatibility issues with the mRendu of it's own) with no luck. I've also tried rebooting everything, including router, different ethernet cables, configurations etc. Right now I can't even get Squeezelite to play, so I'm going backwards! I'm still on a trial version of JRiver, so if there's a better option I could look at it (Roon seems to be overkill for what I want though) Does anyone have any insights or suggestions?

Yesterday I have taken the plunge into updating my computers from Windows 1709 to Windows 1909. All things went rather smoothly apart from some network/internet connection issues which could be resolved with a network adapter reset. However, I am running one PC as my central media library with; Kodi and a MySQL database and JRiver Media Center24. Now I have found out that I no longer can connect to these media libraries/data bases, via my network. Kodi on a separate PC cannot reach/access the MySQL database running on my central media server Jriver cannot being accessed via a browser on a different PC. Can be accessed locally via browser on the central media server Jriver cannot being accessed via Jriver with remote library on a different PC. Gizmo app cannot access JRiver running on my central media server. File sharing and internet all work between my different computers, and all can access files remotely from my central media server. (on my local network) Turning off the firewall on the central media server doesn't resolve this issue. Turning SMB1 didn't solve things either, and hasn't changed between version 1709 and 1909 Reinstalling MC24 didn't help either Installing the kb4554364 patch didn't help either Server and workstation services are both running on the central media server Anyone else who might have an idea about what to do? I am suspecting a service not running, or a new network security feature implemented that I am not aware off.

The August 2015 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again gather for an afternoon of fine music, great sound and amicable company. Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This month we will be focussed on computer audio and music server products. We’ll compare Audirvana V2, Pure Music V2 and JRiver V20. Pure Music and Audirvana are available only for the Mac platform, so to ensure a level playing field we’ll compare them to the Mac version of JRiver. (Sorry, no Amarra comparisons.) We’ll also compare the FLAC and WAV version of the same recording. We’ll compare high-res PCM to DSD. Lastly, we’ll also compare a CD disc, the same CD ripped to disc and a high-res version. Time permitting, we’ll also compare a CD ripped with XLD (on Mac) and to the same CD ripped with dbPoweramp (Mac version). Everything will be presented “blind†so you can determine what sounds best to you without preconceived ideas getting in the way. Admittedly, hearing a disc player whirling away or me fumbling with the disc player controls might give the game away! But most things can be hidden from you. And although the emphasis will be on Mac based products, that won’t invalidate what you can expect to do and hear with a Windows platform. Details of the system…. The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on CD/SACD or flash drive. (Sorry, no provision for vinyl this month.) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind. Guests are always welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door. Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park Address: 26 Stanley St, Epping When: Sunday 16th August 2015 Doors open 1pm Meeting starts at 2pm Best regards, Tom Waters President Sydney Audio Club www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au tomwaters@sydneyaudioclub.org.au

(I just try this in this section of the forum too. I don't know where it will fit in the best.) I just recently started experimenting with JRiver doing all the audio decoding for movies instead of using bit stream. This will open up the possibilities for using convolution filters/room corrections. My reciever can't do any room corrections/convolution filters and doesn't allow me to set the speaker distance for induvidual codecs, unlike the speaker size and level settings, which I can set for induvidual formats. So I cannot bypass the reciever's dsp in total for some A/B testing. Does anyone have any experience with using DSP equalizer or convolution filters in JRiver. My firts experiment will be to find out if I can make the center speaker less localized or virtual lift it to the same height as my L+R speakers. It is sitting lower and I am able to pick it up. I would like to have it blend in more with the L+R speakers. The other thing is, does anyone know about HDMI drivers that bypasses the Windows Audio Management. I am currently using a Nvidia GeForce WASAPI audio driver.

I'm looking for CD-equivalent sound via my computer and have lurked for a long time on SNA and travelled other parts of the web to learn about what's best. Whenever I look at hardware it drives me to the software and then that in turn takes me back to the hardware so I end up going in circles, around and around. I get dizzy. There's lots of threads about hardware but I want to start with the software and then I can plan for the hardware so I can buy or install the operating system at the same time. My several TB of files are flac or wav. What's the best software for playing audio on? These are what I've seen. Players JIE Extreme Player on Windows 8.0 and on Windows 8.1 SNA thread here JRiver various threads JRiver running under Windows Server 2012 SNA install thread here Monkey's audio Are there others to recommend Operating systems Windows Linux-based including "linuxmint-16-cinnamon-dvd-32bit(or 64bit) tailored to user-friendliness for desktop users". I don't know about Mac-based systems. I have several TB of flac files which Apple gets grumpy about. The home network is Windows-based. I've not played in Steve's walled garden since 1988 so I assume there are now some ways that Mac and Windows can play nice in computer audio? Others? Primare_Knob's thread was really interesting - he said that CAD-tweaked Windows is not for the faint-hearted but at least various options were ranked.: I'd be happy with that. My head would stop spinning. My aim is to pick the right software and OS for sound quality and make it work. Even if it takes a sledgehammer.
