  5. Item: JBL Everest horn Location: Noosa Queensland Price: $1300 for horns Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: time for new horn adventures Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: So I too was one of several of us went down the path of building quasi-JBL Everest DD55000 clones. I do love the Everest horns, largely because in my opinion, they don't sounds like horns in the sense that they don't have the usual horn colouration. Certainly the speakers shown are by far the best speakers I have ever had and I have had numerous, and indeed are one of the best speakers I have ever heard. I spent a good year perfecting the crossover of which Sir Rab and Bryan ended up using. The JBL's do a fine job at disappearing. One crazy morning I had the idea of using the B&C DCM 50 compression drivers on them with an adapter at Bryans and they sounded amazing and a number of people have followed suit with this combination. I have a few horn speakers and these are by far the easiest to set up as they do not beam like traditional horns. This is a reluctant sale as they make a fine addition to my collection but as I am always trying new things, it would be a shame to have them sitting around. For sale here are the JBL horns that are used for midrange. The bass cabinets and tweeters are not included in the sale. My horns are identical to Sir Rab of Everests Pair which just sold very quickly here on StereoNet, I modified both our pairs, filled with crushed garnet and are spray painted a beautiful matt grey colour. Pictured below is a friend having a listen just after moving to Noosa. I would be happy to provide a schematic of the Crossover to the purchaser.
  6. Item: JBL Everest horns + optional B&C DCM-50 drivers Location: Fitzroy North Price: $1300 for horns, $2100 for horns & drivers Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: time for new horn adventures Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: So several of us went down the path of building quasi-JBL Everest DD55000 clones. I love the Everest horns, largely because to me they don't sounds like horns in the sense that they don't have what i call horn colouration. Certainly the speakers shown are by far the best speakers I have ever had, and indeed are one of the best speakers I have ever heard. I have had a few get togethers here and it seems this view is shared by others. So what is up for sale here are the JBL horns that are used for midrange. This pair is not the first pair up for sale on StereoNet, but in my opinion these are the best, because: (i) they are filled with crushed garnet, (ii) they come with supports for the compression driver, and (iii) they are spray painted a beautiful grey colour (they look better IRL than they do in these photos). Speaking of which, if someone wants to buy these horns, they have first dibs on the B&C DCM-50 compression drivers, which are a perfect match to the horns. They are in mint condition, and I am the original owner. I still have the original boxes (although they are under my house somewhere, and in any case they are simple cardboard boxes). See https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/249858-sold-fs-bc-dcm50-compression-drivers-2/ for more information on these amazing drivers. Pictures:
  7. Item: JBL TL260 Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Speakers Location: Mona Vale, Sydney Price: $5200 Item Condition: Ex Demonstration, Extremely Good Reason for selling: Stock Rotation Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only. This product is available for in-store audition and is store pickup only Extra Info: These speakers have some minor scuffs as to be expected on Ex Demo but they are in excellent working order otherwise. Inspections welcome. These limited edition speakers, certainly produce some wow factor. The use of a 5 way cross-over, and 12inch sub driver, Allows the speaker, to really bring alive the bottom end and lower mids. The bass response is extremely tight and beautifully warm, you think for such big sounding speaker some of the definition would be lost? it is most certainly not! These speakers create a delightful listening experience, and are a lot less directional then a lot of other speakers on the market. We recommend an inspection before you buy to ensure speakers are as listed. Auditions are welcome. https://sydneyhifimonavale.com.au/products/jbl-tl260-limited-60th-anniversary-edition Pictures:
  8. 9. Item: JBL SVA -1600 Speakers Location: Sydney Price: $750 Item Condition: good see description Reason for selling: surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Here i have a pair of very well regarded JBL sva1600 speakers. Solid cabinetry Excellent workmanship Great Crossover Heavy duty binding post !Amazing SVA configuration Excellent horn tweeter Robust, heavy, shielded dual 8 inch drivers Adjustability of cabinet angle to aid imaging Soaks up power and just gets stronger. Maybe you want to talk about presence and detail? Well, then they have that in abundance as well. Music that's very well recorded sounds absolutely awesome, yet can be beautifully detailed and clear at the same time. Music that's poorly recorded wil sound just that, poorly recorded. There's no masking here to cover it up; it is what it is. The symmetrical vertical array (SVA) is a novel approach that has a lot of merit for pinpoint imaging and excellent control of the soundstage. These heavy, powerful beasts need that kind of discipline, and it all works out well for an exciting, wonderful experience. For full disclosure ,The cabinets have been wrapped in wood vinyl manually so the finishing around the corners is not 100% accurate. But the actual vinyl is brand new and looks like real wood!! They look pretty good from a distance but up close u can see tiny imperfections. Speakers functions 100% and all drivers are original!! These can be posted but they are extremely heavy at 32 kgs each! So locals are encouraged and prefered first however interstate buyers Dont be shy ,i can pack it very well and double lots of wrap and then 2 layers of heavy duty cardboard.

  16. Just received my new Lenard Audio Opal active 4-way system. Made in Bundalaguah, Victoria. They have Acoustic Elegance TD18H+ 18" bass drivers, and JBL 2206 12" mids, JBL 2446 2" upper mid compression drivers and 2405 slot radiator tweeters. Beautiful Tassie Blackwood cabinets. Thank you to John and Paul at Lenard for their fantastic advice and assistance. They sound better than any system I've ever heard, price no object! The bass performance is staggering, and separation, imaging and staging beautiful. We've been glued to the couch for the last two days just listening. The Opals unveil beauty in recorded music which I never thought existed.

This pair is in very nice condition. 12" Alnicos - they don't make them like this anymore! fs = 17Hz !!! These two are a matching pair, both measuring 6.1 ohms. Roll surrounds are fine. Marks on the cones in the pics are just where the dust has been disturbed! Specs are here:http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/thiele small parameters/theile parameters.pdf They would make a perfect bass driver for a three way. I thought about keeping them myself ,...but really - who am I kidding! Pics are crappy, but the drivers are really clean, just a few rubs on the magnets were they have been slid across shelves. 19. Item: JBL Studio 590 3 way speakers Location: Bunbury, WA Price: $1600 Item Condition: excellent, original Reason for selling: unfortunately I can't keep all the speakers I like Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Studio 590 speakers in original condition, sold with factory shipping cartons and factory manuals. Excellent speakers with a typical JBL dynamic exciting sound. Only selling to make way for another pair of large JBL's. More and hopefully better pics to come As these JBL's present a 92db and 6 Ohm load they sound great with amps from about 20W or more. I only have amps from 20-50W and mainly tubes and I was extreemly pleased with their performance. Favorite amps were 20W s/s Hiraga clone and 27W Cymer SE which is fantastic. 21. Hi all, I’m moving house soon and looking to expand my setup. I’ve currently got a Marantz 2225 receiver and 6100 turntable running into some DIY SB acoustic driver bookshelfs. After some good advice from member Kelossus I’m hunting down a set of JBL L112’s or equivalent. With the JBL’s though the 2225 might be a bit low on wattage... The receiver has pre-out added so I could connect a power amp. Would everyone recommend going down that path or the alternative of upgrading the receiver? I’d like to stay with the vintage Marantz and could probably stretch to a 2250 or maybe 2275 down the track if I could find one. Appreciate your input! Thanks, Matt Current receiver and TT setup. Will be upgrading desk/console after move too.

  23. Would anyone have a integrated amp recommendation for a set of JBL L5's ? I will need something with some fortitude as they are hungry speakers. Music listened to is general rock / pop. I have always liked the sound of Marantz gear. Budget is around $1500, but can always stretch. Thx in advance...
  24. Hi I tried to get some pics and a bit of info on some of the rooms, I'll have to keep updating over the next few days. Sorry if any spelling is wrong or names or prices. I should be able to present a half decent overview though. I'll just say once that all comments are to my ears, i didn't use anyone else at the show. And all opinions are mine I am not writing about any one else. If you have a question let me know I may be able to come up with an answer. Rooms are in no particular order. First up is this huge room with huge JBL and huge Melody electronics. This was a large scale sound. Big bass but just because you can have big bass doesn't mean you should. I felt it smeared into the rest of the sound. I perhaps can see why some like it but for me it was underwhelming. They seem to be making things bigger these days and then charger more.
