  3. Hi guys, im looking for a pair of Paradigm studio surround speakers, ADP590, either version 4 or 5, let me know what you have, thanks Heath.
  4. Item: Cyrus AV Master 8, DVD 8 and SmartPower Location: Melbourne, SE Suburbs Price: Would prefer to sell as a complete set but will separate if there's no interest in taking all three. I've noted individual prices below but will offer a reduction if someone wants to take all three. Item Condition: All very good for their respective ages. I have the original packaging and remotes for these where appropriate. Reason for selling: No longer required - I've traded these for 'serenity' at home as the CFO wanted something 'easier' to use that fit in the TV cabinet so these have been replaced with a Marantz NR1608 with the EggsBox taking on the disc spinning duty in the TV room) Payment Method: PayPal (Buyer to cover any fees), Cash on Pickup Extra Info: Local Pickup is preferred for these, but if necessary postage can be arranged at buyer's expense. I will take and add pictures when I get a few minutes free, most likely this weekend, as some of these items are currently boxed up so will need to be taken out to be photographed. If there are specific items of interest I can prioritise getting those ones done ASAP. I have boxes, cables, remotes (as appropriate) for all of these and all are in black - do note however that Cyrus blacks finishes have changed a bit over the years so these don't all have exactly the same finish. SOLD : Cyrus SmartPower (x1) - Price $450 Another, albeit older, versatile power amp and where I started my Cyrus Power Amp journey, offering 60W per channel (into 8Ohm) or 105W as a Mono amp at the flick of a switch. Works really well as an upgrade to a Cyrus integrated or a dedicated Cyrus Pre and a very cost effective upgrade at that. Full specification can be found at https://www.cyrusaudio.com/support/other-resources/legacy-products/power-amplifiers/smartpower/ Cyrus AV Master 8 (x1) - Price $700 I'll be sorry to see this one go as it's so much more musical than most of the newer, more sophisticated, AV processors/receivers that don't cost silly money. No video processing/switching on this one, it's an audio-only affair but that's what makes this sound so great for music. In true Cyrus fashion it's incredibly versatile with 3 channels of configurable amplification so it's a great way to add surround sound to an existing stereo setup (or with either the 8 Power or SmartPower above you can run a 5.1 setup or with both you can run a 7.1 setup) and provides great upgrade options with pre-outs for everything. Full specification can be found at https://www.cyrusaudio.com/support/other-resources/legacy-products/av/av-master-8-0/ Cyrus DVD 8 (x1) - Price $400 Another home cinema product from Cyrus that offers more musicality than most that won't break the bank. This player is multi-region based on entering codes via the remote control and I've mostly used it with Australian and UK discs. At this price I will include a converter to take the component output of the Cyrus and convert it to HDMI. Full specification can be found at https://www.cyrusaudio.com/support/other-resources/legacy-products/av/dvd-8/ This could be a very musical home cinema setup (all the way up to 7.1) for someone who doesn't need all the latest bells and whistles in terms of sound formats and who doesn't need all the video switching of a modern AV Processor. EDIT : A few items removed as the window of opportunity for an upgrade has passed but the home-CFO has decreed that these boxes must go... Pictures:
  5. Hi, I am planning and gathering bits for my yet to build home cinema, and I am trying to get an idea about subwoofers. How many, which type and how to set them up for movie playback. I do have a pair of Martin Logan Montis, which have a powered (200w) 10inch woofer in a closed cabinet. This woofer is crossed over at 340Hz where the panel starts to take over and are rated to go down to 29Hz +/-3dB. I also have a single Paradigm Ultracube powered (650W) 12inch subwoofer with 2 x 10inch passive radiators. This subwoofer is claimed to go down to 19Hz DIN. The new room will roughly be 3.4 x 5.5 x 2.5m (46 cbm). The recommendation is to use more than 1 subwoofer for a better bass response. I can't really count the Montis woofer as subwoofers, since I have no control over them separate, and they still have to play up to 340Hz. The Paradigm does have their PDK software for bass response control so going with another Paradigm or Martin Logan would make integration easier. But should I go for a twin pair of subwoofers, or can I mix and match? What other options can I use to integrate the lower end into a smooth and powerful response, and would a 15inch sub be a good addition or more of an distraction. There is a fair chance that all of this is will be sitting behind an acoustical projection screen.
  6. (I just try this in this section of the forum too. I don't know where it will fit in the best.) I just recently started experimenting with JRiver doing all the audio decoding for movies instead of using bit stream. This will open up the possibilities for using convolution filters/room corrections. My reciever can't do any room corrections/convolution filters and doesn't allow me to set the speaker distance for induvidual codecs, unlike the speaker size and level settings, which I can set for induvidual formats. So I cannot bypass the reciever's dsp in total for some A/B testing. Does anyone have any experience with using DSP equalizer or convolution filters in JRiver. My firts experiment will be to find out if I can make the center speaker less localized or virtual lift it to the same height as my L+R speakers. It is sitting lower and I am able to pick it up. I would like to have it blend in more with the L+R speakers. The other thing is, does anyone know about HDMI drivers that bypasses the Windows Audio Management. I am currently using a Nvidia GeForce WASAPI audio driver.

  11. This is a complete high end cinema ready for purchase. It has only been turned on a few times and everything is in excellent condition. As a result of a marriage ending, I'm forced to sell everything. I believe this is a very good opportunity for someone to pick up high end quality brands at a fraction of the as new price. I am located in Melbourne, Australia. Also, given the weight and lack of boxes for a lot of the gear, local pickup would be preferred. If you are able to supply a courier to box everything and you take responsibility, then we can work something out. This is an honest and serious sale. I'm parting with a dream cinema that was never realised, I just hope you have better luck with it. Not looking for offers, price is fair and firm. All equipment is black, with Meridian finished in Piano Black. 4 of the 5 DSP speakers are coaxial connection with 1 having the newer ethernet. Will supply photos and serial numbers for all gear to serious buyers. Price as new in excess of $80,000. Priced for sale at $25,000 AUD. Thanks for looking.
