Item: Focal Spirit Classic Headphones Location: Kew, Victoria Price: $220 Item Condition: very good Reason for selling: surplus to my needs Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Focal Spirit Classic for sale, no box but all accessories including pouch, long cable, short cable, booklet. Build quality is very high on these. These are still being sold in Australia for $600 so get a bargain. Very detailed without being fatiguing, tight punchy bass and warm but forward mids. Does not require amplification but responds well to amplification and DACs very well. No sound leakage either which was the reason for purchasing in the first place. Highly regarded by the legendary Tyll at Innerfidelity website. I'm happy to ship these for an extra $16 Pictures:
Hello everybody and hope you are all well, Looking for some advice on driving a pair of AKG 601s. I know these are an old model and there is a fair bit of info about Amp/dac combos for these cans already BUT I picked up an demo model and its been a few years since I can find any pairings and there has been alot of new gear out since then and..I think that is enough for one unpuctuated sentence! Basically the rig is computer based. The on board audio has SPDIF output but also plenty of room to run USB as well. I am using Monkey Media as my player mostly FLAC. Initially my impression of the cans were great running of a big Dennon surround sound amp at Carlton Audio Visual (trialled the AKG K272HDs as well the 601s one out with the clarity, oh and the comfort holy F*** are these babies comfy and I wear big Fitzroy style chunky glasses too!), but when I got home I found that the computer audio is way to fatiguing. The highs are way to harsh (too many pops and clicks), super annoying when listening to electro. I had an instant of buyer remorse but thought I'd plug them into the front of my CD63 and low and behold all that was bad was good again. The problem is that I am using these to "help" me study and therefore putting the CD player on my desk is not really going to work. I therefore would love some advice on what the next step in my new head-fi obsession should be. In terms of budget probably below $500 would be good but I can save up a few months and get something more expensive...utilizing the adage "buy the best gear you can afford", and listen with my ear buds which actually sound fine from the comp. Cheers all, Sam As an aside when I plug in my ear buds (Monster Beats itours) and there is no music playing there is the constant hiss through them, its like I can here alot of noise coming through. When I plug in the AKGs I don't get that at all silence is just that. Any thoughts on why that might be happening? Just a curiosity.
