  1. I have my CD player hooked up to my integrated amplifier - works great. I'd like to add a DVD player & TV into the system. As I don't have a AV receiver, and only a 2.0 speaker setup, I would like to see if I can stick with my integrated amp. In order to have the sound from the DVD player go through the amp, and the picture go to the TV, is a HDMI splitter the item I need?

  7. Hello, I am interested in building an audio PC to connect to the following equipment: Powered bookshelf speakers: Acoustic Energy AE1 Active Subwoofers: B&W DB4S Preamp & DAC: Essence HDACC II-4K Subwoofer Equalizer: SVS AS-EQ1 Music: Locally stored in various lossless formats. I have no intention of using streaming services like Tidal. Many of the topics I am reading seem to focus on output over Toslink, USB to an external DAC or local decoding with analog output, no mention of output over HDMI. The Essence HDACC II-4K has the best sound (according to the manufacturer) over the HDMI input. I am leaning towards Audirvana as the player as I like the fact that it has a iOS app for remote control and it gets excellent reviews for audio quality. I see that a Windows version of the player is going to be released before the end of this month so I will test it on my Windows laptop and MacBook Air. I am also comfortable building a HDPLEX machine running Linux or a Nano (headless) Windows Server 2016. But I feel like the law of diminishing returns comes into play here given that I am outputting over HDMI. I like the aesthetics of the Mac Mini but I have read mixed reviews of its audio quality. However none of these mention outputting over HDMI. I would appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks Dan

  9. I now have a Samsung 8500 uhd blu ray player, with only one hdmi out point. There is an optical out for audio, which I feed into a Denon AV receiver. The optical does not handle the newer higher quality codecs. Would it be worthwhile getting a splitter for the hdmi to feed both the TV and the Av Receiver through hdmi? Has anyone tried this?

  11. Hi there, We've used infocus projectors for many years and have just been upgraded to the 3118HD. We have noticed that when using HDMI as a source, the audio always 'fades in'. Usually this means missing the first 1-2 seconds of audio altogher. We use these for large scale presentations and a 1-2 second delayed start is not acceptable. Never had an issue with infocus before and can't get much help out of them now. Any ideas? We have tried a couple of different HDMI cables, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference.
  12. Hi, We have all been very busy with USB for the last couple of years and how we like to isolate our audio system from the PC source. Is there anything similar on the market that does isolate our audio system from the PC source when using HDMI? I am currently researching HDMI distribution amplifiers that seem to re-clock, equalize and regenerate HDMI signals before output. Some also run a buffer on the output. Some examples: Vision TC-HDMI12 https://visionaudiovisual.com/techconnect/tc-hdmi12/ Cyp QU-12S1A http://www.cypeurope.com/store/store/app/product/QU-12SIA/1-to-2-HDMI-Distribution-Amplifier-with-additional-HDMI-output-for-non-3D-AVR- Pro.2 HDMI2SP http://pro2.com.au/347/allproducts/avaccessories/avdistribution/hdmi2sp-2-way-hdmi-splitter-1-in-2-out/ Kramer VM-2HXL https://www.videoguys.com.au/Shop/p/30095/kramer-vm-2hxl-1-2-hdmi-distribution-amplifier-vm-2hxl.html Anyone who has any experience with this or has some thoughts on it.
  13. Since upgrading my HT gear, including JVC X500, Oppo UDP203 & Marantz AVR 7010 to allow for 4K viewing the one weak link has been the HDMI cable running from the front end to the PJ. As anyone who has a 4K setup knows it's a hit and miss affair. My old 10m HDMI cable was not up to the task so I bought a Kordz PRS 10m active cable, which I am currently using, but it's only good to 10.2Gbps so I am needing to keep the Oppo set at 4:2:0 chroma. Which doesn't actually adversely effect the PQ however I really want a cable that can handle the full 18Gbps. I bought a Celerity fibre optic HDMI cable and it worked brilliantly.........for about a month, before it turned it's toes up and refused to even pass a 1080p signal. The other drawback to the Celerity is that it needs to be powered on at least one end and in some circumstances both ends. So the Celerity, which was not cheap by any means, at $395 for the 40'/12.2m cable, was returned for a refund. I went back to the Kordz and as I said earlier it is what I'm still using now. I have been watching the threads on AVS forum discussing long HDMI cables for 4K@60Hz to see what others were using and had been having any luck with. The one thing that has become apparent is that what works in one system will not necessarily work in another. There has since been a UK poster who has gone to the trouble of buying cables of many different brands and lengths and testing them. They have tested 4 of each brand at any particular lengths and the testing is still ongoing. The thread and the test results can be found HERE. The two brands of cables that came out on top were the Monoprice SlimRun AV HDR Cable and the Ruipro Ultra-Slim HDMI Active Optical Fibre Cable, with the performance on both being identical. There have been many follow up posts from other users praising the Ruipro cables both before and since the test results were posted. My issue with buying either cable was having to buy it from OS and any issues that could crop up if needing to return a defective cable. So following the announcement by Foxy (EZYHD) over the weekend that he would be getting the Ruipro Fibre Optic cables into Australia the decision was made to order one from him for my system, after all I will now be dealing with an Australian seller who I have bought many cables from over the years. I can't wait to try this cable in my own system and I am tentatively confident, from all the reviews that this cable might actually operate as advertised. I will post a follow up review once I have the cable in my system.
  14. hehe looks like we are well and truly stressing the cable standards with uhd release.... its not often you have a reviewer declare that something sucks...well its official hdmi sucks .... its been caught with its pants on fire ...everyone will remember hdmi org officially declaring there are only two standards..... standard speed and high speed high speed was supposed to do it all...well guess what either the standard is not very well policed or they have been well and truly caught out ! as it happens its a real mine field people are finding ...cables that were high speed...people aren't finding are working...cables declared to pass 4k and 18 GBPS are being found to not work....even the ones declared as "active" with a chip to over come length issues have been found wanting.... and in some cases not even working.... and then even worse hdmi org comes up with a certification process...well guess what active cables have to be an exception to the rule as they cant be tested ? and while short distances were never found to be an issue in the past ...guess what now you will find a short length run direct player to source wont work...but one run via an avr will.... wha.... ??? good article here from dave vaughn of sound and vision magazine...I am quite sure his frustration led to doing the article !!! http://www.soundandvision.com/content/uhd-blu-ray-vs-hdmi-let-battle-begin#RgE98g7HeZ7UFU2b.97 at one stage it was rather scary when people were finding only a particular monster cable would work...but now thats been found to not work in all situations and only an audio quest costing mega bucks to be tried and tested.... so what now .... spend twice as much on a cable than the only uhd player on the market ? seems kind of bizarre doesnt it ? hehe my suggestion...dont do a thing ! unless absolutely have to...dont buy a cable just incase...only buy one if you actually find what you have is a no go ! as chances are this is going to be a very quickly evolving place as hdmi cable makers come to grips with the situation.... <<<<<<<<THREAD UPDATE>>>>>>>> have updated the original post, latest testing ... round 2 from David Vaughn - Courtesy of Sound and Vision magazine, http://www.soundandvision.com/content/uhd-blu-ray-vs-hdmi-–-pt-2-which-cables-can-actually-pass-hdmi-20#goOHOeY1Pjeqy3KP.97 good to see some cheap options there ! that do indeed pass in the long cable category, and also the ones that dont !
  15. Hi there! i am from Austria (yep) and i bought this nice surround receiver "LG-AR702 NS". I bought it used last year. I'm very pleased with the sound and i really like it. Here comes my problem. LG Austria, Germany .. do not support this product anymore. You can't even anything about it at LG-Online in my country. Its' like it didn't ever exist. So when i found out that there was no support here in my continent, i started researching and found out, that there are some information about it down under. So my problem is, that when i connect my PC or PS3 directly via HDMI to the LG, there is this problem, that it recognizes the "multi-channel" input, but messes it up, and center comes from surround right. I got this problem on PC when using windows-sound-configuration. when i click on the center, the test-sound comes from the back. When i watch a downloaded 5.1 video (movie-trailer), the sound goes right. But games, programs and windows do not work well. Same at PS3. Netflix works fine. Amazon Prime Video not. Netflix even works fine, when i got 1. PS3 to TV via HDMI. 2. TV to LG via Toslink) I think it depends on the signal that comes into the AVR. I found out, that there was a similar problem with "Denon" receivers. This could be fixed with a firmeware update. But i couldn't find anything for the LG. Do you have any idea in fixing this? BTW. as i bought this used, i didn't get a microphone for audissey set-up. and it is IMPOSSIBLE to geht one used-part here in Europe. is there any help for me too? thank you a lot. nice greetings from the other side of the world

  19. Item: 10 metre HDMI Cable TCC Platinum High Speed 3D 1080p like new Location: Melb SE Price: $35 plus shipping at buyers cost Item Condition: Mint like new Reason for selling: cable clear out now surplus Payment Method: cash, PayPal at buyers cost, COD Extra Info: Some might know the TCC 10M platinum hdmi cable that goes highly recommended given the very affordable price and that work faultlessly over 10m length. The also have a slim flat construction yet well made with braided outer but both plugs and cable sheath slim enough to enable them to be run in wall and under houses and in ceilings. the cable itself not too much thicker than yellow tongue people use to run cables ! and a much easier run than many heavier hdmi cables out there. I used one of these up until recently but upgraded to 4K uhd which this cable simply was never designed to do. It will be faultless though for dvd, blu-ray, hd audio, multichannel hi res, 3D even ethernet etc so affordably probably quite a snip if needing a cable over a long length eg feeding a projector. and will do that faultlessly If in melbourne welcome to come pick this up and pay cash on pick up. If needing posting Given the nature of the item can post australia wide however will be at buyers cost. even then at the price its going to be hard to beat to buy a quality cable like it for the money. hopefully can see from the pic below its in great nick like new ! 20. Item: 10 metre Kordz PRS 4K UHD HDMI cable as new mint Location: Melb SE Price: $150 plus shipping at buyers cost (vs new price $299 plus shipping) Item Condition: Mint like new Reason for selling: cable clear out now surplus Payment Method: cash, PayPal at buyers cost, COD Extra Info: Some will know that 4K UHD is a real challenge when comes to hdmi cables and especially if going over 7m in length. Older cables that were supposedly high speed rated as turns out do not pass 4k uhd. The good news is the kordz prs which on recommendation from Kordz themselves and designed for 4k UHD I found to successfully pass 4k uhd using both the samsung and oppo uhd players I have used with feeding off my marantz processor. I am selling this as surplus as with 2 cables I have its probably really not needed. The real benefit of this cable is in its design being an active cable it is a lot more slender and compact and flexible in construction than thick stiff difficult to run passive hdmi cables that might pass uhd blu-ray. the kordz prs by comparison has compact hdmi plugs and with its slender network cable style leads will easily run and fit through 19mm electrical conduit ! which makes it extremely suitable if planning to run the cable in wall under the house, through the ceiling etc as typically do if running to a projector with this sort of length cable. The plugs too they use are their pro fit plugs so fit solidly and unlike cheaper hdmi plugs wont slip out especially with heavy stiff cables hanging off them. The Kordz prs here will come in its original packaging and there is still some 5 months of warranty left on it I purchased this from local Big picture people store which are an authorised kordz reseller and recommended by kordz to purchase from. These cable retail at $297 to $399 so hopefully can see at $150 a good chance to grab one like new in mint condition at half price. Melbourne buyers most welcome to pay cash on pickup. If needing shipping happy to ship anywhere in australia at buyers cost, similarly if wanting to use PayPal that will be at buyers cost given what PayPal charge for the service. Please see below link and some info from the westcoast hifi site so can se what these go for brand new https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au/product/kordz-prs-hdmi-cable-10m/ and also can refer to the kordz site for further info on the PRS cable http://www.kordz.com/prs-long-hdmi-cables.htm Australian designed and engineered Kordz PRS series cables are the choice for professional A/V installers around the world.
