  1. Further Information: Selling Sennheiser HD800 headphones Selling for a friend. serial number 13169, early production, made in Germany It comes with its original case, packaging, manual and stock cable (6.35mm termination) for more information please visit the link below: https://6moons.com/audioreviews/sennheiser2/800.html Thank you.
  2. Further Information: Selling my HD800S due to not using them. They are in excellent condition and include the 4.4mm balanced cable, 6.35mm cable. Bought Sennheiser hd800s from June 2022, haven't got much time to enjoy it anymore Can provide receipt to buyer. Box been kept away the whole time. Located in VIC Melbourne, can ship at buyer's expense.
  3. The Sennheiser HD800 phones provide outstanding sound quality, but a number of users have experienced premature failure in the cable insulation in the initial section of cabling from the left and right sides of the headphones. Here is an opinion expressed in the opening post of a thread on another forum: Why $200 cable shield of the HD800 is less durable than a $1 cable shield? I myself had the issue of prematurely failing insulation for HD800 phones and I have recently replaced the connectors at the phones end of the cable. I was not inclined to pay $250 approx for a genuine Sennheiser repacement cable: https://en-au.sennheiser.com/accessories--hd-800--hd-800-s--connection-cable What I did instead was to pay about $36 for (non-genuine) headphone connectors; snip off the frayed part of the old cable, and solder the remaining good part of the old cable to the new connectors. Here you can see a photograph of the repaired phones, and on the left of the picture the original connectors and frayed cable: The connector pin spacing is very small, and it is a challenge to ensure that solder doesn't bridge the gap. Here is the old cable next to the new connector, prior to soldering: The correct connections are as per the following image in the thread https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hd800-connectors-pin-out.575344/ :- I used electrical insulation tape wound tightly around the cable to serve as an anchor to stop the cable pulling through the opening in the outer shell of the new connector. Note: the original Sennheiser connectors appear to use a plastic anchor that is permanently affixed, trapping the original cable in the connector. I imagine a number of non-OEM connectors would work. The ones I used appear on ebay Australia under the description "Adapter Plug Parts Connector For Sennheiser HD800 HD800s Dharma D1000 Headphone". (I was reluctant to purchase from Sennheiser for two reasons, firstly because I felt the asking price for a replacement cable rather high, and secondly because it was not clear whether Sennheiser had actually improved the quality of the outer insulation for the left and right channel cabling near their proprietary headphone connectors.) After repair, the cabling is a few centimetres shorter than it was originally, but still more than long enough for convenient use.
  4. Item: Sennheiser HD800 with balanced 4 pin XLR cable *See note below* Location: Keysborough VIC Price: $800 or ONO + shipping at buyers expense Item Condition: Used - Immaculate condition Reason for selling: Hifiman HE-1000 V2 get more of a listen these days Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Up for sale is my HD800 headphones. With the balanced XLR cable the soundstage and clarity is probably unrivalled at this price-range. Note: the original cable was cut in half to create the balance XLR and single-ended cables; sound quality is still top notch. Grab yourself a bargain! Pictures:
  5. Item: ZY Cable for Sennheiser HD 800 Location: Braybrook VIC 3019 Price: $150 Item Condition: brand new Reason for selling: no longer needed Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: Probably best value balanced cable for Sennheiser HD800 or HD800s - originally purchased from Massdrop in March but never got to use it. Brand new, unopened. $150 includes standard Australian postage (or can pickup from Braybrook VIC 3019). https://www.massdrop.com/buy/56865 Pictures:
  6. Item: Sennheiser HD800 Location: Brisbane Price: $900 Pickup or Plus Post ($35 postage) Item Condition: Good. See below in the extra info and the pictures. Reason for selling: Moving to a closed headphone due to traffic noise in office. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I bought these second hand, they were described as "Perfect Condition". Unfortunately the pads and headband were instantly chuck out worthy. I cleaned the housing/plastic etc and paid $152 for brand new headband and earpads direct from Sennheiser. Have installed them, used them for about 10 hours and now selling. You can see some marks to the silver paint on the edges, typical of a lot of these, but otherwise everything functions perfectly, and the benefit of brand new, fresh smelling pads and headband. 7. Item: SDR (Superdupont Resonator) MOD for Sennheiser HD800 headphones Location: Altona (VIC) Price: $25 Item Condition: new Reason for selling: no longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is most popular mod for Sennheiser HD800 headphones usially called French mod, Super Dupont Resonator or SDR. The kit is brand new and was purchased directly from the author, known as Sorrodje on Super Best Audio Friends forum where the mod came to live. Personally (and its not just me) after many auditions I think HD800 with mod sounds better than HD800s, which to me has 'spoiled' sound signature where it lost some clarity in bass (which is hard to improve) perhaps gaining tiny bit more in quantity (which is usually easy to do with things like ear pads). Dreaded HD800 treble spike is gone on both. I have originally purchased two pair just in case and I haven't touched second at all pair at all as it was really super easy to do. Have no need for it now. Pickup from Altona (VIC) or can post anywhere in Australia. Here is some more on the mod, what it does and how to put it in: - https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/sennheiser-hd-800-s-tweaked-and-delightfuland-french-diy-response - http://aornic.com/reviews/2016/8/23/sennheiser-hd800-superdupont-resonator-mod - http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/hd800-french-mod-aka-superdupont-resonator.1147/ Pictures:
  8. Item: Sennheiser HD800 Location: Brisbane, McDowal, 4053 Price: 850AUD 800AUD including shipping Item Condition: Good condition, including box, receipt and the Frequency Response Graph on USB stick. 6 months old! Reason for selling: Excess to needs, Downgrading, Not to Taste. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought from The Audio Tailor on Camp Hill at Brisbane in April. Comes with original accessories, including the USB stick with the Frequency Response Graph. SDR mod pre installed. The headphone itself works excellently but no longer to my taste. Paid $1599 new for it. Pictures:
  9. Item: Sennheiser HD800 S headphones Location: Sydney CBD Price: $1950 plus $25 for AU wide shipping (RRP $2599) - OR NEAREST OFFER Item Condition: 9.9/10 Reason for selling: Need the $$$, regretful sale Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: can negotiate lower price for local pick up. The Sennheiser HD800 S headphones need no introduction. A huge step up from the original HD800 - retaining stellar soundstage while fixing treble peak and adding thickness to the bass. They are among the very highest echelon of true "end game" headphones. A very reluctant sale. Priced at a strong discount to RRP of $2599 (a steal even at full price given sound quality) - and would suit a buyer looking for a new pair. Have been babied in a smoke free, pet free house and in MINT condition. Still 1 year warranty left (till June 2018). But German precision engineering of these headphones means fault rates are very low (compared to say Audeze or Hifiman) So you can buy with confidence. Comes with all original packaging: headphones, travel case, both 4 pin XLR and 1/4" cables, cable pouch, USB stick. See pictures below. Accepting cash or PayPal only. Open to reasonable offers - just drop me a PM. Headphone stand in pictures is not included. Thanks for looking. Pictures:

Item: Sennheiser HD800 Headphones Location: Melbourne (Outer East) Price: $850 or $1000 with custom OFC/Neutrik 4 wire balanced cable Item Condition: Excellent in box Reason for selling: Not using Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Shipping: In Australia, POA Extra Info: For sale are my very low mileage HD800 in excellent condition. I bought these new out of curiosity in 2015 and they have had very little use since then, despite the incredible sound stage they project, as I kept going back to my HD650 and now have a Stax system. I've kept them boxed, they are in excellent condition and they sound great, hopefully you will like their sound character more than I did. Also available (additional $150 if bought at the same time) is my custom built 2.6M OFC balanced cable for the HD800 with 4 wire Neutrik connector, which I used with my Oppa HA-1. 15. did some what I found really useful headphone comparisons at the tivoli gtg last night. they had the HD800 and HD 700 hooked upto the hdvd800 dac/amp and the HD650 and HD 600 hooked unto the HDVA600 amp. sources were digital. listening to fleetwood mac rumours which is a nice punchy track with good detail vocals etc. the contrast between these headphones was ready apparent. and in some cases re enforcing my previous experience with these. I've owned the hd800 and HD650 before and own currently the hd580s which in all terms is similar to the hd600 first up some back to back comparisons between the hd800 and the hd700. both are very comfortable to wear, light and neither clamping excessively or tiring to wear. In sound I found the hd800 a very smooth easy listen, though to my surprise the hd700 was more punchy and dynamic /richer sounding. next up listening to the hd650 and hd600, this time with the hdva600 amp and wasn't surprised with what I found here, the hd650 the punchier sounding harder hitting vs the smoother sounding hd600. For me while have heard some headphones in isolation and owned say either one time, first time have had the chance to hear the hd700 and first time to be able to hear all these headphones back to back in the one system. the surprise for me was the hd700. its got the hd650s sound but without the head clamp the 650 has. and reminder for me again the hd800s are more in line of sound to the hd600. definitely pretty thankful for tivoli and sennheiser for setting up the comparison all in the one spot. definitely was an excellent means to evaluate them. as an aside they also had a couple of stax electrostatic systems there for listening too. while with different music, they were a very nice listen too. more laid back, relaxing kind of listen. a very lush sound, have owned some stax years and years back and can understand too their appeal. these had a retail of $3.5k for one and about $7k for other so some serious headphones but pretty nice too anyone else got a chance to listen to these as well ?

Serial number: 2XXXX Unit 2: Purchased from another SNA member. Pads are worn and need to be upgraded. Stock condition. Serial number: 1XXXXLocation: Glen Waverley, Victoria (pickup available in Docklands)Item condition description: Unit 1: Excellent. Unit 2: With current pads and headband. Okay. If new pads and headband are installed - Very Good to ExcellentPrice and price conditions: Unit 1: $945 Unit 2: $745 BOTH: $1500 including shipping. Reason for selling: Down-sizingPayment Methods: Paypal (add 3%), Cash - Pickup, Bank Transfer. Extra info: The legendary Sennheiser HD800. One souped up unit and one unit that requires new pads and headband (can get from Sennheiser online store). Both will come with original box, packaging and cable. For the cheaper pair, if you want me to order the headband and pads (which costs just under $160) add $200 for the time and effort. I recommend doing it yourself. It's very easy. Should anybody for any weird reason want me to remove the mods which make the HD800 sound much better, let me know and it can be done. The SuperDupont resonator takes a bit of time and effort to import from Sorrotdje and the Cork mod takes a lot of care and effort to create and install. I highly recommend leaving them in.

I found this mod to really improve the headphone. Pictures:

  22. 23. Item: 6m Cardas Clear HD800 cable with DUAL XLR OUTLocation: Melbourne CBDPrice: $850Item Condition: ExcellentReason for selling: No longer requiredPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, Wire transferExtra Info: New $2,000.00 Top of the line Cardas Clear headphone cable with dual mono 3-pinXLR (original high-grade Cardas connector), 6m, for Seinnheiser HD800/HD800s. 24. Item: Sennheiser HD800 HeadphonesLocation: AdelaidePrice: $800 for headphone (RRP $1999) (Optional Norne XLR Cable with the XLR -> 1/4" adapter is $120 extra)Item Condition: Good (besides the chipped paint on the right hand cup)Reason for selling: Upgraded to HE1000Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyExtra Info: It comes with the original box and manual. The ear cups and headband is in excellent condition as it was replaced with new one not long ago. The headphone works perfectly fine and no issue besides the right ear cup has chipped paint (known issue for HD800), hence the price reflects that. Reference headphone, very transparent, excellent soundstage and imaging. Plenty of information online and it is one of the legendary headphones, still regard as the best headphone for classical. Many people believe the HD800 is better than the HD800s due to the lack of sparkle and smaller soundstaging / imaging. The Norne Cable is available and in my opinion is a must upgrade from the stock cable as it gives more warmth, bass and body to the overall sound. Pictures:
  25. Item: Sennheiser HD800S (HD800 S) Headphones Location: Inner-West Sydney Price: $1750 NEG (+$25 postage & handling - at buyer's risk) Item Condition: 9.5/10 (would suit new buyer) Reason for selling: Focal Utopia Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Make me an offer - but try not to lowball! So much has been said about these headphones, it's unlikely I'll be able to tell you anything new - but in summary: * Extraordinary soundstage * Super clarity and resolution * Fixes treble peak and adds actual bass vs. the original HD800 * Very musical relative to the HD800, and in a way more musical than the utopia (as the S is marginally less analytical) * Lightweight and a delightful way of having long, enjoyable listening sessions focussing on every single bit of detail of your favourite tracks Was bought new for $2500 in June 2016 from an Australian retailer... i am the first owner, and have treated it with utmost care. I thought I'd never sell them, but now the reality of having plonked down big $$$ for the utopia has finally hit me. And I just can't afford to have this much cash tied up in high end headphones. Comes with: headphones (MINT), both SE and XLR cables, USB, cables pouch, travel/storage box, outer cardboard box too. Basically everything pictured other than the headphone stand. Please PM with any queries. Pictures:
