Item: Ariston RD110 SL turntable + Fidelity Research FR -24 Mk2 tonearm + Pickering XSV3000 cartridge with new LPGEAR Vividline stylus + Kashmir corkstone mat
Location: Virginia (North Brisbane)
Price: $1,000.
Item Condition: Vintage used. Some wear but stunning for its age. Sounds amazing.
Reason for selling: Have placed an order for a much more expensive table, and my wife only allows me to keep two tables. I'm kind of torn seeing as this is such a fantastic sounding table. I'm listening to it now as I type and find myself wondering why I decided to "upgrade" although I'm sure I'll love the new table when it arrives. Pictured on the table is Supex SD900 Rosewood mounted on a Supex Rosewood headshell. I'm hanging on to these and providing a Pickering XSV3000 with new LPGEAR Vividline stylus and headshell instead.
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, preferably with an audition to ensure you're happy with everything.
Extra Info: I bought the table used about 12 months ago. Geoff Maloney at Aurealis Audio went over it and fine tuned everything and installed the tonearm.
It has new black Linn springs and a spare armboard. The acrylic cover is in fantastic condition despite its age though doesn't quite fit any more due to the length of the tonearm counterweight. I also have the hinges and a spare belt packed away somewhere though I need to locate as I've recently moved house. The original platter mat has been replaced with a beautiful Kashmir corkstone mat. The original mat sapped dynamics and the corkstone is far superior in this respect. I don't currently have the antiskate set up for the FR-24 Mk2 tonearm as I've found it doesn't seem to affect performance at all one way or another. The original tonearm lifter had an issue as so often seems the case with the FR-24 arms. The weak point of these arms. I enlarged the hole and fitted a new lifter made in Italy by Audiosilente Steel which operates flawlessly.
