  1. The S4700 is a floor-standing 3-way high-performance loudspeaker built upon the same professional-grade technology used in the acclaimed Project K2 S9900, one of the most advanced and sophisticated loudspeakers in the world today. At its foundation, the S4700 uses an all-new cast-frame 15-inch woofer (2216Nd) with a powerful dual 3-inch voice coil and neodymium motor structure for outstanding balance with the horn-loaded compression drivers. Mid- and high-frequencies are reproduced by a pair of titanium diaphragm compression drivers and a single-piece, SonoGlass® dual horn assembly. The 2-inch Aqua-Plas™-coated titanium diaphragm compression driver (175Nd-3) is mated to a 90° x 60° Bi-Radial® horn and delivers mid- and high-frequencies with lifelike dynamics and startling realism while an ultra-high frequency 0.75-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver (138Nd) with a 60° x 30° Bi-Radial horn recreates critical air and spaciousness. Premium-quality network components and dual binding post inputs ensure audiophile performance in any application. The attractive furniture-grade cherry wood veneer enclosure is internally braced at critical points and is tuned via a rear-firing port. The S4700 is intended for use in high-performance 2-channel audio systems or as an LCR loudspeaker in a JBL Synthesis multi-channel home theater installation
  2. I moved to a smaller place but was trying to keep these gorgeous looking and sounding speakers, even after buying a pair of bookshelves (Usher) that actually fit into my room. But unfortunately I cannot afford to keep them until, one day, I have a bigger place. And it is a crime to keep these beauties muted! As you can see in the pictures, these rare Made in France speakers look really good and new would cost $4000. I am open to audition and pick up is obviously better, but I can arrange shipping if needed. Some reviews place them close to $30,000 speakers, as they are very neutral and respond to gear upgrades: https://www.soundandvision.com/content/focal-profile-918-speaker-system https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/focal-profile-918-loudspeaker-1/ But do NOT believe reviews: hear them yourself (even if my small room do not make them any justice)! Specs: Type: 2 1/2-way bass-reflex floor standing speaker. Drivers: 6.5" "W" woofer, 6.5" "W" mid-bass, 1" Al/Mg inverted dome tweeter. Frequency response (+or-3dB): 40Hz - 30.5kHz Low frequency point: 36Hz Sensitivity (2.83 V/1 m): 90dB Nominal impedance 8 Ohms: Minimum impedance: 3.2 Ohms Crossover frequency: 180Hz / 2 600Hz Recommended amplifier power: 40 - 200W Dimensions (HWD): 39 x 9 x 13-3/4" Net weight: 43 lbs.

  5. Looking for some advice on new speakers please. I thought I had it all figured out until I read an article on Darko's site by Srajan Ebaen http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2014/02/kih-6-loading-the-room/%C2'> I've been saving up for some floorstanding speakers at around $3K, probably second hand. They will go in a surround system, but my real focus for sound quality is for two channel, not surround. I currently don't have a sub but am also looking to add one of those, probably about $1K, e.g. SVS SB2000. My room is about 7m x 5m x 2.7m (22x16x9 feet), with lots of hard surfaces and few opportunities for treatments. I have a young family, so moderate listening levels will be the reality 95% of the time. I listen to a wide range of music, but folk, rock, blues would be a good ball park. Using RRPs, one example might be Kef R500 ($3,700) vs. Kef R300 ($2,600) + SVS SB2000 ($1,000). So will I be more likely to get better sound from floorstanders or standmounts plus sub? Pros and cons of each set-up? Thanks Corey
  6. Price: 1500 Further information: For reviews, please find the following links. https://novo.press/elac-fs-247-loudspeaker-review/ https://6moons.com/audioreviews/elac/elac.html Shipping available at buyer's expense (Box dimensions are 110x40x30, ~20kg per box x 2). Pick up is preferred. Packaging - Original boxes, covers, spikes, bass bungs and JET DC foam rings (1 has split but repaired with good ol' duct tape) included. Original gloves and polishing clothes can be included but not recommended given obvious hygiene considerations. These are made in Germany, originally purchased from Sydney HiFi Castle Hill. Speakers have been in a kid and smoke free environment. 1 Chip on 1 speaker and grille which does not affect performance (accidentally knocked over onto wall, culprit not forgiven). A couple of very small dents in the lacquer can also be seen in photos, usual wear and tear I'd say. Reluctantly letting these after many, many hours of listening enjoyment. The finish and sound of these speakers need no introduction. The JET tweeter is simply legendary. Price takes cosmetic damage into consideration. Open to reasonable offers. Any questions please DM. Thanks for viewing! Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
