  7. I need a favor from my fellow XMC-1 owners in Melbourne. Is there anyone near Mount Waverley/Glen Waverley (or in Melbourne) who has the XMC-1? I would like to borrow the XLR to USB cable that is used for DIRAC just for one night. I just bought a unit from a friend and I got everything in the package except that cable. I got my DIRAC activated with a my own license but I can't connect the mic to my laptop. I've ordered one from Emotiva but would like to tune my system in the meantime. Could anyone loan it to me for an evening or a weekend? PM me if you are able to help and I can organize a time to come borrow it. I can even give you some money as a retainer until I return it you'd like. Thanks in advance. Cheers guys.

  14. Item: Airmotiv 6 Powered Studio Monitor (pair) sold Location: Melbourne Price: $550 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: downsizing Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bi-amplified, full-featured powerhouse 200 Watts per channel. Can use either balanced or unbalanced inputs. Each monitor is Bi-amplified with 100w for the 6" woofers and 100w for the high frequency Ribbon Transducers. I personally think they provide great bang for buck when compared to similar models from other brands. Compares to brands such as Adam Audio and KRK. I purchased these directly from Emotiva, They have had very little use, The airmotiv 6 is great for use as powered studio monitors but can also be used directly with a DAC, preamp, or surround processor to create a small audiophile system or a great home-theater setup. I also have some stands that I can provide at no cost. Pictures:

Works great with an iPod or other source as a small room or office stereo Can use either balanced or unbalanced inputs. I purchased these directly from Emotiva, They have had very little use, The airmotiv 6 is great for use as powered studio monitors but can also be used directly with a DAC, preamp, or surround processor to create a small audiophile system or a great home-theater setup. The Emotiva blurb: Superior Transducer Technology with Precision Matching Our exclusive airmotiv high-frequency transducer provides crystal clear, extended highs--even extending comfortably above the range of human hearing. At the same time, a powerful, precision-engineered airmotiv low-frequency transducer delivers crisp solid bass without any of the thinness or thump that plague other small speakers. The high-frequency gain, low-frequency gain, and overall gain of each unit are calibrated to within 1.0 dB of our reference standard, which allows every pair to deliver stunning imaging and pinpoint placement of instruments in the sound stage, and ensures that any units you buy in the future will be an exact match for the ones you already have. Bi-Amplified, Full-Featured Powerhouse All of our airmotiv monitors are fully bi-amplified, with a separate amp for both the woofer and high-frequency transducer. The airmotiv 6s offer 210 watts per channel of power. Each amplifier is audiophile-grade, with toroid transformer, large electrolytic power capacitors, and stacked metalized film capacitors used throughout. I also have some basic speaker stands i will throw in. (If you wish to take them). Pictures:
  16. Good morning everyone. First time thread for me and thank you all in advance for reading and commenting/advising. I have done a little searching for similar threads in relation to DAC vs Pre-amp etc and found some knowledgeable advice however I though I would decide to specify exactly what I have so any posters out there had similar spec'd equipment & can share their experiences. I have recently purchased an Emotiva XPA2 Gen 1 for a bargain price and also have a Cambridge DAC Magic Plus, Pioneer N30 Network player and a set of Polk RTiA9 speakers. So basically, I wand to connect the N30 Coax out to the Cambridge Coax in and the analogue XLR outs to the XLR in into the Emotiva and bi-wired connected to the Polks. I believe that the Emotiva earlier Gen amps had an higher input sensitivity and may work well with only the DAC Magic Plus as the pre-amp considering it has a volume control. I normally crank the music up very loud hence not too worried about the digital volume control (not sure if it is but I assume) being low level. What are your thoughts? Do you think the DAC is enough or should I get a Preamp? Cheers
  17. Item: Emotiva XPA5 Gen1 Location: Melbourne Price: $1000 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Downsizing to to a stereo only setup. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash or direct deposit Extra Info: Selling my Emotiva XPA5 Gen1. It is in excellent condition. I imported brand new from Emotiva. It did a great job powering my 5.1 setup in my old house but now just too much overkill for a stereo setup in a small room. Happy to post pictures if you want.
  18. Hi all. I'm looking for a stereo power amp to replace a Rotel RB-991. The Rotel is going because, long story short, it's mains-grounded (3 prong power cable), and so is my HTPC. Adding a second mains-grounded component to my system, it turns out, introduces a loud ground loop hum that no amount of cable-swapping and re-configuring can tame. If I leave the PC off and listen to vinyl only, everything is fine - buuuuut that's not going to do, and so the Rotel has to go. So, I'm looking for recommendations for a chassis grounded (2 prong cable) power amp, ideally with 150wpc+ at 8ohms, preferably rated down to 4ohms. Some relevant info: System TV: Samsung 4k HDCP 2.2 thing that loathes handshaking with my AVR AVR: Marantz SR6010 HTPC: custom built Windows 10 machine (mains-grounded) Turntable: Technics SL1210mkII Phono Preamp: Emotiva XPS-1 Speakers: KEF Q700s, Q600c, Q400, and Q300s at the rear Budget Up to $3500 for a good solution. This may mean higher RRP, depending on which stores I can source the unit from (some being more flexible than others with price). What am I looking for? 150wpc+ into 8ohms stereo power amp (or comparable solution), capable of handling 4ohm loads, with a high enough damping factor that the bass is tight and snappy (like the Rotel). Unlike the Rotel, I need something without overly harsh or sibilant treble, and it absolutely cannot be something that is mains grounded. In my price range, that last proviso alone rules out: Rotel, Cambridge, Parasound, and Exposure. I'm sure they're all good amps, but they're not going to work for me. What I'm considering Emotiva XPA-2 Pro: heaps of power, good price, similar input sensitivity to Marantz power amps, suggesting it will work well with my SR6010, high damping factor Con: no longer distributed in Australia so there's hundreds or dollars in shipping if it breaks, and there are many stories of them breaking, also, the blue LED aesthetic is a bit too early-2000s Nokia 8250 for me Emotiva BASX A-300 Pro: cheap, could easily get 2 and bi-amp the Q700s and get better channel separation, high damping factor Con: audio quality(?), no longer distributed in Australia so there's hundreds or dollars in shipping if it breaks, and there are many stories of them breaking, blue LED aesthetic Marantz MM7025 Pro: cheap, could easily get 2 and bi-amp the Q700s and get better channel separation, guaranteed to play well with the SR6010, I know I like the Marantz sound, my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Con: barely more power than the SR6010 (if only one used, not sure about bi-amping), not rated to anything below 6ohms, el-core transformer (does this even matter?) Marantz MM7055 Pro: more channels, guaranteed to play well with the SR6010, I know I like the Marantz sound, my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Con: essentially a 5 channel version of the MM7025, with all the same flaws, bi-amp likely not as good as with 2 MM7025s because it's a shared power supply and is essentially bi-wiring Marantz MM8077 Pro: heaps of channels, guaranteed to play well with the SR6010, I know I like the Marantz sound, toroidal transformer, my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Cons: a lot of money for seemingly very little gain over the SR6010 Anthem MCA225 Pro: a tonne of power, especially into low ohms (rated down to 2ohms!), my preferred stockist is flexible with pricing Con: a lot of money for the spec, 225wpc is at <1%THD, rather than a more listenable 0.08% (will this matter if the overhead is just for transients?), much lower input sensitivity than other brands (10kohms vs 22+) which may(?) mean a bad match with the SR6010 NAD C 275 BEE Pro: good price, two sets of terminals for bi-wiring Con: not much more power than the SR6010, reliability issues, harder and harder to find, low input sensitivity like the Anthem Any thoughts or additional suggestions appreciated, especially from those with first-hand experience of any of the above equipment. Cheers, Simon P.S. I'm not going to bother with ground loop isolators to bodge the Rotel into working, as it has other issues (massive draw on power up that occasionally trips the protection on my surge board, brightness, lack of remote trigger) that means it's ultimately better if I replace it.
  19. Selling my Emotiva XPA-2 Gen2 and XPA-3 Gen2 Power amps. Based in Perth WA Metro. Selling due to recent upgrade, has had light use for the length of my ownership. Prefer pickup at this stage. I do have the original boxes. $900 for the XPA-2 - Excellent condition $950 for the XPA-3 - Very good condition, on the top back of the case it has some minor scratches (see pic). More info on Stereonet. Pics too as size exceeds maximum on this site.
  20. Item: Emotiva XPA-3 Gen 2 Location: Perth WA Metro Price: $850 Item Condition: Very Good, top back of amp has a few small scratches (see pics) Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: I am the second owner of this power amp, and purchased off DTV member Smundy in August 2015. He purchased it in late 2013. 200 wpc into 8 ohms, 330 wpc into 4 ohms, all channels driven. Have used it with a pair of Paradigm Studio 60s (rears) and CC690 (centre) alongside an XPA-2 (also for sale). Never used anywhere near reference levels, and am probably averaging twice weekly use for 1-3 hours as my main usage ends up to be on a PC, so I would say lightly use across my 2 years of ownership. The Gen2 line was released mid to late 2013 so would be under the 5 year warranty. I also have the original boxes. Pictures:
  21. Item: Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2 Location: Perth WA Metro Price: $800 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: I am the second owner of this power amp, and purchased off fellow SNA member muznuts in December 2014. I believe he had it for 6-12 months prior, this may still be on warranty. 300 wpc into 8 ohms, 500 wpc into 4 ohms, all channels driven. Have used it with a pair of Paradigm Studio 100s alongside an XPA-3 (also for sale). Never used anywhere near reference levels, and am probably averaging twice weekly use for 1-3 hours as my main usage ends up to be on a PC, so I would say lightly use across my 2.5 years of ownership. 22. Item: Emotiva XMC-1 GEN 2 AV Processor Location: Perth Price: $2,100 $1,850 inc registered shipping nationwide (Unit has an RRP of $3,999) Item Condition: Pristine Reason for selling: Decluttering as getting ready to move house Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays fees), Bank Deposit Extra Info: Emotiva dont need an introduction, but this HT processor is fantastic. This was purchased about two and a half years ago from Emotiva direct, before Final Link became official distributors in Australia. Unit has hardly been used, as it was supposed to be used in a new home build that never eventuated at the time. Supplied with all accessories (minus manual, link below) and packaging. Unit itself is immaculate. This unit can also be upgraded to support HDMI2.0 and HDCP2.2, as well as Dolby Atmos and DTS-X, however I believe its possible these add-on cards may need to be acquired via Emotiva direct from the US, rather than Final Link (they are currently not available in Australia yet anyways). Also, the Dirac license is not transferable, so a new license (purchasing the full Dirac software) would be required to run Dirac on this unit. Full Instruction manual here:- http://www.emotiva.com/resources/XMC_user_v30_manual.pdf Pictures:

  24. Item: Emotiva XMC-1 Gen 2 Home Theatre AV PREAMP/PROCESSOR (HT receiver but with no amps) Location: Glen Waverley, Victoria Item condition description: BRAND NEW SEALED BOX Price and price conditions: $2995 Usual Price: $3999 http://www.lifestylestore.com.au/emotiva-xmc-1-generation-2-7-2-a-v-preamplifier-processor.html Reason for selling: In between jobs. Need money for house repayments. Payment Methods: Paypal (add 3%), Cash - Pickup, Bank Transfer. Extra info: I have not opened it since I bought this direct from Emotiva. Between the time I bought it up to the time it arrived, I had an enforced change in jobs and I am tight on funds. Make no mistake, this is my dream AV PREAMP/PROCESSOR with an unequaled dirac le auto tune optimizer for it's price range and I will buy this again once I am not so tight financially. Keep in mind this unit is without any amplification (which will usually aid in sound quality) and will require you to have a power amp to pair it with. If you want I can also upload a picture of the shipping box. It's still sealed inside.
