  1. Item: ELAC BS 243.3 Bookshelf Speakers - black Location: Collingwood, Melbourne Price: 1,200, negotiable Item Condition: 10/10 Reason for selling: Raising funds Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: Picked up from Vinyl Revival in Fitzroy late last year (Nov), selling to raise some funds. I auditioned a few bookshelf speakers and found these to be the best sounding and looking of the ones I tried in the two weeks I spent in there auditioning! I've had these in my apartment and they fill the space beautifully, lovely to listen to in the background but can definitely deliver if asked to. I have had them hooked up to a Sonos AMP. The jet tweeter delivers a lot of detail in the highs and they sound like much larger speakers for the size. The build and finish are beautiful. Glossy black, and really cool looking under the grille. Bought for 1,995, selling for 30% off: https://web.archive.org/web/20190407073809/https://www.vinylrevival.com.au/collections/elac/products/elac-bs-243-2-bookshelf-pair Comes with original box and packaging. Pick up Collingwood. Photos:

  3. Item: Elac 244.3s plus matching stands Location: Sydney Price: $1350 Item Condition: 8.5-9/10 Reason for selling: restless audiophile Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: comes with original packaging, original receipt $2600 new. Lovely silver magnet dust covers don’t show up well in photos. Sound wonderful, have never disappointed me once. 1/2017 new. Not particularly hard to drive. Was using a Marantz PM8006. Famous Jet Tweeters. Beautiful looking speakers in my opinion. Prefer pickup, but send anywhere at buyers expense. The stands are Dynaudio’s but suit them very well. Not to be confused with the smaller (but very capable) 243.3s. I don’t want to separate them ideally. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  4. Item: ELAC 330.3 JET Speakers with original stands Location: Melbourne 3067 Price: 2250 AUD Item Condition: 8/10 Reason for selling: Not required. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank transfer Extra Info: Modern design with the keyhole shape, impressive sound-stage, clean highs up to 50K thanks to JET tweeters and very tight strong bass. They come with original stands, I have boxes and manual as well. Pick up preferred but can post. Happy to demo. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  5. Does anyone out there have advice for a newby to the vinyl school trying to find that sound I had in the early eighties from a Luxman system with Yamaha NS690 III speakers. They are monitors and I still have them although one of the mid range and possibly a tweeter has been blown. I have thought about having them repaired (as I can get the parts), but I am considering if there is something out there comparable. I have a pair of ELAC 2.0 5.2 bookshelf speakers and they are OK. I have been pretty happy with them but I miss the clarity I recall from the Yamaha's. I have tested the ELAC's on a few of my 'test' tracks like Elton John's Song for Guy and Fleetwood Mac's Landslide and they sound nothing like the clarity of the Yamaha's. Is it the fact that the Yamaha's are considered monitors? They are as sharp as a tack which may not suit a lot of people but I do love the clarity which I have been unable to get from the ELAC's even through an Ortofon Quintet Blue on my MMF7.1 turntable. And what about the 2 way / 3 way difference in modern speakers - does that mean less clarity or is it just a tech advancement that means we get more from mid range now. So confused atm.
  6. PENDING PAYMENT AND PICK-UP AFTER COMING WEEKEND - I WILL CLOSE THE THREAD ONCE PICKED UP Item: ELAC BS-403 Book Shelf Speaker in Walnut High Gloss including grills and all original packing & accessories (triple wall box, protective cloth bags, plastic sleeves, booklet and rubber pads for top of speaker stands) Location: SYD - Inner West Item Condition: Excellent Price: $1,400 (RRP for speakers is $2,999) including insured postage in AU (discount for local pick-up) - $25 donation to SNA on sale Reason for selling: No more second system (and not again for at least another 18-24 months), clearing space Payment Method: Pickup – Cash, PayPal (friend or buyer covers fees). Extra Info: Great looking and sounding German made stand mounts, including Elac's latest version of their Jet-Tweeter, 150mm AS-XR cone woofer and down-firing bass-reflex port (onto built in platform/base). Fantastic sound that fills small to medium sized rooms to a level that makes you look twice for where the larger speaker is hiding ... great detail (without ever getting harsh), presence and imaging (I found that to get the best soundstage these need a little breathing space, even though the down-firing woofer makes placement a lot more forgiving than the rear-firing variety). They do need some grunt on the amplifier's end to come to their full potential. Sad to see these go (as is my wife, for once😁), but I would just pack them up and store for at least a year or two, so better to find a new home. I am the second owner (bought here on SNA a little over six months ago). There are a couple of tiny blemishes on the back of speaker 2967 (apparently there since new). I tried to photograph but showing better in the original add, hence the link: Specs: Speaker type: 2-way, bass reflex Tweeter: 1 x JET 5 Woofer: 1 x 150 mm AS -XR cone Crossover frequency: 2,500 Hz Frequency response: 41 to 50,000 Hz Sensitivity: 86 dB at 2.83 v/1m Recommended amplifier power: 40 to 200 wpc Nominal/peak power handling: 70 / 100 wpc Nominal impedance: 4 Ω; minimum 3.2 Ω @ 260 Hz Binding posts: 5-way metal Magnetic shielding: No Cabinet finishes: High gloss black, white or walnut veneer; oiled walnut Accessories included: Magnetic fabric grille Height: 12.1 in / 308 mm Width: 6.5 in / 166 mm Depth: 10.9 in / 277 mm Net weight (each): 16.1 lb / 7.3 kg Happy for serious interest to inspect in person (pm me please). Local pick-up will be given preference if local interest. Link Elac Website: https://www.elac.com/product/bs-403/ Cheers, Ralf Pictures:

  8. Item: ELAC BS 403 Bookshelf Speakers Location: Maribyrnong, VIC Price: $1400 inc $20 to SNA Item Condition: Excellent, 9/10 Reason for selling: Upsizing Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (add 3%) Extra Info: First owner, lived inside my man cave. No smoking, no pets and a very well trained daughter ensure these are in excellent condition. These feature the most recent iteration of the JET Tweeter. I really love the ELAC sound. Even now, I’m hesitant to pull the trigger on this one, but I need the funds to help finance my upgrade. I have highlighted a couple of tiny blemishes in the finish, these are both on speaker 2967 and have been there since I bought them. Downward firing port ensures flexibility with room placement, though I have them roughly 50cm from both walls in my room. They come supplied with grills, book and box. Pictures:

  11. Item: ELAC BS 244.3 Bookshelf Speakers - gloss white Location: Sydney Inner West (but can post) Price: 1,700 + postage Item Condition: 10/10 Reason for selling: Change of Direction Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I purchased these new from Apollo Hifi in late January (maybe early Feb?) this year. I wanted a pair of bookshelf speakers with great imaging and good punch. I initially took home a pair of KEF LS50 based on their reputation, but was disappointed with the modest kick, and in my opinion overrated imaging. So I went back there and spent a good couple of hours auditioning every speakers in the shop, including Vienna Acoustic Haydn Grand, KEF R300, Martin Logan Motion XT35, and so on. These Elacs were by far the best of the lot (and the better looking!). They disappeared in the room to the point I did not know which speakers I was listening too. The jet folded tweeter offers a lot of detail in the highs and they pack a massive (tight!) punch for the size. The Vienna Acoustics also had a decent kick but were too prominent in the mids and much looser in the bass region (with less extension). The famous KEF LS50 were embarrassingly inferior on all fronts, and so were the R300. These are speakers made in Germany that are huge in Europe. The built and finishing are really of high level. Please note that this is the latest 244.3 version, NOT TO BE CONFUSED with the 243 smaller and inferior model. Apollo's RRP is about 2.9k, but can be found in Australia for about 2,6k. http://www.apollohifi.com.au/speakers/bookshelf-speakers/elac-bs244-3-bookshelf-speakers-gloss-black.html One review available here: http://novo.press/elac-bs-244-black-edition-bookshelf-speakers-review/ Having used them for less than 3 months, these are new in every aspect, and still under warranty. I have original box, all wrapping, receipt and manual. Serious buyers are welcome to audition these at my place. Pictures:
  12. Item: Elac 301.2Location: CanberraPrice: $295 plus postageItem Condition: Very Good. Small mark on base where contacted stand but all visible parts are perfectly blemish free.Reason for selling: No Longer Used.Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank transferExtra Info: These speakers were bought about 4 years ago and then used for 12 months as rear speakers in a surround system. They retailed in Australia for close to $1,000 and in the UK were priced at 499 pounds when the pound was worth AUS$2. I have also tried these Elacs in a 2.1 system and they give excellent results. Coupled with a good subwoofer and crossed over at about 90Hz, they give great results with pinpoint imaging - probably due to their small size HXWXD 121mm x 91mm x 135mm. These Elacs would be ideal for someone wanting to setup a high quality desk system or main system in a small room - using a good quality subwoofer in both cases. From experience these are also very effective surround speakers. Full specifications can be found at: http://www.hifigear.co.uk/elac-301-2-loudspeakers.html. I have the factory packaging if postage is required and original wall mounts are included. Pictures:
  13. Hi, A mate found one of these in hard rubbish that looks to be in reasonable condition. The Elac speakers seem to be well regarded, are the TT's as respected? Does anyone know anything about this specific model? Thanks
