Up for sale is my beloved CD-94 MK2 CD player with the legendary Philips TDA1541A S1 Single Crown DACs (pictured.) To all audiophiles and Hi-Fi enthusiasts this DAC model will have meaning as it is one of the best DAC chipsets ever produced to this day. This 16bit DAC has an incredibly smooth sound and is the reason I purchased the unit in the first place. This is a black player with glossy black timber side panels and is in superb condition for a player of this age. It is in perfect working order and is in great physical condition (8 out of 10) with no major marks or scratches and the LCD display is bright with all segments are working beautifully. 2. Item: Marantz Model 104 AM/FM Tuner Location: Williamstown, Victoria Price: $170 $100 Item Condition: Very good Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Now priced at new lower price! Grab it before I change my mind!!! Well what can I say... except that it's a thing of beauty. You know the saying, they just don't make 'em like they used to. Well that goes for this classic Marantz tuner. Had it running last night and it has a warm sound while casting a wide soundstage with lots of detail. I was surprised how good it sounds. Haven't listened to it for ages and my system has improved dramatically since I bought this tuner. It's in great condition considering its age. A few light marks on top and a couple of small bumps in the top edge of the fascia, but not really noticeable unless you're looking for it. Most importantly, all the lights on the display work, including the needle which is used for tuning. This would look great on your equipment rack next to other classic Marantz gear, or a nice tube setup! Pictures:

  5. Item: Yamaha PF-800 Turntable, immaculate, boxed w/ manuals. 3 cartridges, 100+ nice LPs Location: Penrith Area Price: $1500 ONO Condition: Excellent Description: Here we have a Yamaha PF-800 turntable in immaculate condition. It comes boxed with manuals. One of the finest turntables that Yamaha ever produced, with a fantastic float suspension system and a 2-part platter, consisting of an aluminium outer platter and a zinc inner platter (combined weight is a tad over 2kg). Basic automatic features, but very reliable (I could name a few classics which don't fare too well in the reliability department!). There are very few pieces of gear out there that actually appreciate over time: the PF-800 and the PF-1000 were never released widely, so numbers are scarce. Numbers in this sort of condition would be miniscule. The difference between the two models is very subtle: The PF-800's inner platter is Zinc, while the PF-1000's inner platter is Gunmetal. They also had different colour options. They're virtually interchangeable, quality-wise, and both are among some of the finest vintage turntables available today. You'll see plenty of discussions about these models online; many prefer it to choice models from the period, including the Linn LP-12. What's included: --- The turntable, boxed with manuals in fantastic conditon --- a Shure V15 IV phono cartridge, boxed --- a Shure V15 V-P phono cartridge, boxed --- an Audio-Technica AT33e cartridge, boxed ---Two well-kept crates of LPs. Nice and tight in the crate (but not too tight!). You're looking at 60 or so albums a crate, possibly more. They haven't been gone through as they're in storage, but you're more than welcome to do so. Reason for selling: On the move Payment Method: Pickup - Cash. You're more than welcome to test everything out, so take your time. Any questions, feel free to ask! Pictures:
  6. Item: B & W DM 17 Boofkshef Speakers Location: Mosman NSW Price: 350 Item Condition: used but well restored and look amazing! Reason for selling: Too may speakers!!! as exclaimed by she who must be obeyed! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This pair of DM17 's has been lovingly stripped back and shellacked from the black ash veneer it once had. Also, as far as I could tell from the photos taken, and the sticker on the back, these were internally professionally rewired with monster cable. All else is original. The crossover network is like nothing I've previously seen, occupying virtually the entire base area of the cabinet. There's plenty on the net about these and in particular their smooth yet precise response across the whole spectrum. The base of the cabinets have pre-drilled 1/4" threaded holes which were used for securing to the original stands. I found a set of spikes which fitted perfectly so can include if you can use them These are not much larger than your average bookshelf, but they are HEAVY so I'm afraid it's for only those that can pick up. Shipping would be tricky and pricey. Pictures:
  7. Item: AWA AM3 vintage AM tuner Location: Canberra Price: $175 Item Condition: In near pristine condition (works well) with user/service manual and brochures. Size: 120mm high x 400mm wide x 190 deep, weight approx. 3.4 kg Payment Method: Pickup or freight - Cash, Paypal, bank transfer Extra Info: The AM3 AM tuner from AWA was identical to the McKay-Dymek AM3 (apart from mains voltage). Bandwidth +/-8.7kHz at -3dB. This unit has had a Motorola AM-stereo decoder retrofitted, and the standard output is available via an RCA socket. Pictures:
  8. Item: ALL the Robotech Boxed Sets - complete series including Macross Plus Location: Kilsyth South Price: $85 an extra $10 shipped anywhere in Australia Item Condition: Very, very good Reason for selling: Not being used - clearing out Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Yep, the entire Robotech series from the 80's. Absolute classic series. The original Macross what this was based upon predates Transformers. This series was responsible for the anime/manga boom in the 90's. I've included Macross Plus as well. ALL are Australian PAL copies and in immaculate condition. Show the kids what started it all!
  9. The July 2015 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again gather for an afternoon of fine music, great sound and amicable company. Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s Vintage/Classic time once again. We had a lot of wonderful vintage gear in our last vintage/classic meeting back in July 2013, but this year is looking even better! For our meeting, we are considering anything pre-1995 to be vintage/classic equipment. Some of the gear will be on static display, but a lot is functional and will be used on the day. We plan to have at least two main systems this year. The following is not exhaustive, but here’s an idea of what will be on hand: Harmon Kardon turntable Thorens TD160 turntable A. R. Sugden & Co. Connoisseur BD1 turntable complete with a SME tone-arm and a Shure V15 Type 3 cartridge Nakamichi 1000Z cassette player Nakamichi RX-303 cassette player Meridian CD player Quad 33 preamplifier and Quad 303 power amp and Quad FM3 stereo tuner Rodgers E40A - Rodgers British High Fidelity Pure Class A 60'th Anniversary Model (integrated valve amplifier) NAD 1700 Monitor Series preamplifier and tuner NAD 2600 Monitor Series power amplifier Meridian 100 series preamplifier and power amp Klipsch Forte 11 speakers (floor standers) Boston Acoustics A-400 speakers Gales speakers B&W CDM 1NT speakers B&W DM4 speakers B&W DM70 speakers The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on vinyl or CD. (No provision for flash drives or SACD.) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind. Guests are always welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door. Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park Address: 26 Stanley St, Epping When: Sunday 12th July 2015 Doors open 1pm Meeting starts at 2pm Best regards, Tom Waters President Sydney Audio Club www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au tomwaters@sydneyaudioclub.org.au
  10. The July 2013 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again at Dence Park for an afternoon of fine music and sound and convivial company. Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s Vintage/Classic time once again. We had a lot of wonderful vintage gear last year and this year is looking just as good. For our meeting, we are considering anything pre-1995 to be vintage/classic equipment. For the last couple of years the cut-off date has been 1990 – time marches on though so we’ve moved the date a bit. We will have two main systems this year. Some of the components include: - a Pioneer SA-7500 amp - a Pioneer SX-1980 receiver - a Sony X555ES CD player - Sony and Tascam DAT machines - a Meridian CD player - an A. R. Sugden & Co. Connoisseur BD1 turntable complete with a SME tone-arm and a Shure V15 Type 3 cartridge - B&W DM 220 speakers - a Pioneer reverb amp from the 70s - a NAD 7240PE receiver - a Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference, with Fluid Arm and Stanton 681eee - Japanese valve amps - various cassette decks - a Reel to Reel deck We’re working on a Japanese theme from source through to speakers for one system. We’ll also have lots of gear on static display as well – such as a pair of B&W DM4 speakers. The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on vinyl or CD. (Sorry, we won’t be able to play flash drives or SACD as the players aren’t vintage… yet.) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting.
