  1. Item: Assorted Country Vinyl Location:Brisbane 4106 QLD Price: See List Item Condition:See List Reason for selling: Saving for phono stage Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: A couple of records are not on Discogs, namely Johnny Rivers Gatefold last pic. All American Country Vol.2. The $1 and $2 records will be used as postage packers for anyone buying the other records! Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  2. Item: Celestion Ditton 551 Speakers Location: Brisbane Price: $550.00 Item Condition: Excellent for the age Reason for selling: Too many speakers to hang to these. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal friends, COD Only Extra Info: This set of 551s came as part of complete system I bought to get a hold of a rare Luxman TT. The speakers were in pretty good overall condition, but one tweeter was dead, so both have now been replaced with SEAS 19TFF1 tweeters that are a perfect fit and even allow fitment of the original Celestion marked trim rings. Both original tweeters are included in the sale. While waiting for the tweeters the crossovers were recapped (by Speaker Bug), the front fascia repainted in the original colour, by roller, to match the original finish. The cabinets have been cleaned & oiled and have come up a real treat - probable the best condition 40yo cabs I've had. (There is only one small mark - as per the photos.) The grills are an 7/10 but would be an easy recover, or even make a complete new set and keep the originals as they are very 70's. The tech bits are all on the web along with reviews, but in basic terms these are a three way base reflex, front ported speaker, made in the UK in the late 70s, are 720h x 395w and 328d and weight 25kg each! Obviously local (4105) pickup is preferred, but I'm happy to drop to my local Pack & Send - who I know quite well and would do a good job packing them onto a pallet or skid. HiFi Shark pricing shows most good condition 551s in the A$700 - $1000 range, but I think I'm realistic in my pricing due to fitting the SEAS tweeters and re-capped crossovers. If you after a vintage three way that gives a great sound and looks sensational, then these might be the ticket. Can be demo'd with 24hrs notice. Pictures:
  3. A mutual contact I have has presented me a potential speaker change that I may consider taking up within the next two weeks. As such I'm considering moving on my three JTR Triple 12 units and seeking any genuine interest for them. Looking at $4000 for the set and I'll include delivery to metro areas Syd/Melb/Bris, etc. These are 3x 12inch driver + 1" compression tweeter speakers from JTR from the States. Standard black in colour, fantastic condition, magnetic cloth grills are present with no tears. I presently use them for my left, center, right behind my AT projector screen, powered by an Emotiva amp which gets them going well. If in Brisbane, I can demonstrate if genuinely interested. I'm also seeking any sale interest in my pair of 30-band high end Midas Klark Teknik 1/3 octave stereo graphic EQs and can pair with this for additional $1,800. These retail at about $2k new each. I am the first and only owner of these pair which were some of the last units hand made in England before they switched to mass production out of China. They are absolutely like new, will be in original boxes. These are used in studios, broadcast and pro audio. These have never seen beyond my home theatre and therefore never been hired out, Rockstar's or abused. Alternatively $1000 each Inc delivery if bought separately. Happy to send photos I'm just not having the best of luck while posting this from my phone.
  4. Long time no post. After years of dedicated service my Bladelius Thor integrated decided to stop powering up. It happened as I was fiddling with some cords from my AVR during calibration of my HT system. I assume I knocked or pulled on something in the process. Long story short, I am chasing someone who can take a look at the amp (was overdue for a service in any case). Any of you knowledgable folk able to point me in the right direction? Cheers, Hatters
  5. Hi, For sale are my pair of cherry coloured Dali Concept 8 speakers and accompanying Concept Center speaker, also in cherry. 100% functional and in excellent condition. Can demonstrate working if desired. Bought new in QLD, first and only owner. Reason for sale is due to recent upgrade. Refer to official site for complete details: http://www.dali-speakers.com/en-US/Loudspeakers-1/CONCEPT-8.aspx http://www.dali-speakers.com/en-US/Loudspeakers-1/CONCEPT-Center.aspx?M=eCom_Catalog&PID=6847 $800 for the set of 3 speakers. Pickup local from Brisbane (southside) or buyer can arrange own shipping. Can text photos to parties interested. I wasn't able to compress the pictures to upload... Thanks!
  6. I am considering moving on my Cambridge Audio 751BD Upscaling Blu-ray player. Unit is located in Brisbane. I have no problem arranging and including shipping to a metro area nationwide included in the price. Unit was $1,299 1-2 years ago when bought. Looking for $650 inc delivery. Unit is absolutely like new, all parts present. Plays international Blu-rays. Will come in original box with manuals, remote, etc. All features and functions 100% working, no scratches or any visual, physical or operating defects. Potential reason for sale: to fund Oppo BDP-105D that I'm considering which I want for the 32bit DACs and "4k" upscaling. Sonically this unit is impressive, I run analogue audio out as you get 5 x Wolfson 24-bit DACs across 7.1 channels that was as opposed to I think just 1 that runs across if you use HDMI. It loads fast and you will still get many years out of it. Latest firmware is loaded on it. Review the specs for yourself.... http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/products/azur-751bd-universal-upsampling-blu-ray-player
  7. Hi all...... Been lurking for a while and thought I should sign up to join in on some of the chats. My vinyl journey so far has been relatively brief but here it is..... - parents had a secondhand store growing up and got into collecting records of classic rock from what I could scavenge from the shop - had various old school TTs from the age of probably 12/13 through to leaving home. Didn't know enough about it then to even care what types...lol - have had a rega planar 2 for the last 5/6 years with the grace 707 arm with a AT440LMa cart - playing through a basic sherwood stereo amp with built in phono stage Anyway, just about to throw a bit of cash my setup for a new deck, cart and phono stage. To be honest my setup has sounded good to my ears, though far from audiophile of course. And through the last 5 years or so I've had a few parties centred around the TT and its been handled by some people who probably weren't physically capable at the time if you catch my drift. I'm fairly sure the cart and/or stylus has seen better days. I listen to classic rock, blues, hard rock, progressive metal through to heavy metal and sometimes hip hop...lol. Basically over the years I've tried to glean some sort of satisfaction from any and all styles of music, often opening up my mind in the process. Anyway, I'm sure that's enough of a novel for now......hopefully chat you all soon.
  8. Hi all I'm keen to have a look at some HT cabinets but I'm not sure on where I should start my search. I'd like a unit with adjustable shelves that are strongly supported - my current unit has shelves that sag with the weight of my centre speaker and avr & power amp. I'm looking for a cabinet roughly 1.8m wide, and a friend interstate has a bell'o unit that's pretty nice. So anyway, looking for any suggestions on where to look, or if anyone has something that might fit the bill that they're looking to sell, please let me know. I'm located in Brisbane. Thanks guys, Hatters
  9. Hi All, I tried to do a lot of reading on this site and others to get to the bottom of this. I have been told in their system (Foxtel) I can only get a standard box. I live in a newish unit complex (bout 10 years old) with satellite and there is only a single cable in the wall (I guess pre HD). I have read that in some places a splitter is all that is required to get IQ to work and that a lot of channels were moved to the Horizontal in the recent past. I can get Free to air channels a bunch of the +2's, On Demand channels are showing (although I haven't tried). http://forums.whirlp...787893&p=2 I have asked them to send out a technician to try out an IQ2 but they refused...... Don't care if FTA or some +2's disappear but want IQ and HD (EPL and use a projector). I thought Satellite lite could get IQ and HD now, does it sound like I have extra lite, lite or something else? Channel changes for Foxtel lite customers - Knowfirst Foxtel Lite - Page 6 - Foxtel Digital - DTV Forum Australia - The leading audio visual and home theatre forum Foxtel Lite - Foxtel Digital - DTV Forum Australia - The leading audio visual and home theatre forum Box on the floor of the MDU: Matchmaster Multiswitch 3in (Sat H, Sat V, UHF/VHF), 8 out which all have cables plugged in, only 4 apartments on the floor though.... I am concerned Foxtel DB is wrong but the phone people can't look past it (they are probably not technicians) Do you learned people think IQ is possible? Is there a Foxtel installer out there in Brisbane that can remedy?
  10. Hello there, Just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Steve, I'm 28, and I love music! I hold a Diploma in Sound Production and have just finished the first week of my Bachelor Degree in Audio Production. I play guitar, but not very well haha. I love live music and spend a lot of time checking out local bands. I haven't spent near as much as I would like on audio gear over the years, once upon a time I did own a Marantz SR-4400 and a 5.1 set of Pro Lab speakers. It was awesome! and I really wish I still owned it. Really love the Marantz gear. I have also owned a couple of pretty decent Alpine car stereo systems in my time too. I find their gear to be really great quality and probably wouldn't stray unless something really grabbed my attention. All up each of my systems (Car & Home) were probably worth around $2000 each, which I think is modestly reasonable for an above average sounding rig. As you can no doubt easily imagine, in the future I will be spending all sorts of crazy amounts of money on audio gear from Speakers, amplifiers, DAC's and room acoustics, to microphones, audio interfaces, monitors, P.A. gear and all kinds of leads etc. in a never ending tale of chasing that perfect sound. All going well hopefully even a studio and large format mixing desk which, if my dreams come true will be all analogue. Of course money is always necessary and at the moment studying full-time I don't have a lot of it . But I'm sure there will be plenty of discussions to be had and I look forward to hearing all of your input. At the moment I need to set myself up with a decent 2CH system to act as a reference for my mixes. I was hoping to maybe start a discussion on the topic of Aussie HiFi over there at Capalaba. I've been there recently and spoken to the guys and checked out a few of their awesome toys and I was really impressed, not only were they really friendly and helpful they have an amazing showroom with some awesome gear that is just way outta my sights for the time being, unfortunately haha. I stumbled across them I think it was a few years ago when some money must have somehow come my way and I was interested in hooking myself up with another Marantz system. I just have a soft spot for Marantz and if I could I'd love to be able to get my hands on some of their top of the range gear. Anyway, Aussie HiFi are one of only a couple if not the only dealer in Brisbane that carry Marantz gear. So I guess I just wanted to give a bit of a shout out to those guys and would like to hear where everyone else in Brisbane goes shopping for their aural pleasures. Steve.
