  2. Just wondering if anyone else is having major issues with Tidal and or their Bluesound this weekend or over the past week? Constant buffering when streaming Tidal either using cellular data out and about or at home via bluesound (which is hardwired via ethernet) A mate who lives over an hour away having same issues using Tidal and his Bluesound and am wondering if others have issues too? Spotify and Qoboz work no issue via the Bluesound but Tidal works fine for my mate using his Yamaha so is the issue a Tidal and Bluesound compatability thing or more a Tidal issue given streaming tidal to my phone presents issues too. I have sent a requet to Tidal and am waiting for a reply. All the usual checks been done re connections etc, I am confident that is not the problem given my net speed and all other wired or WiFi devices in the home work flawlessly. Will be interested to see if anyone else has been paying for the privage of frustration this weekend...

  6. Item: Bluesound Pulse 2 (white) Location: Doncaster East, VIC Price: $550 Item Condition: Item is in excellent condition. Looks new. It is currently stored in original box with bag and original accessories. Reason for selling: NLR. I need the cash and my audio gear hasn't been getting used. Time to move on the secondary systems. 7. Item: Bluesound Node 2 Black Location: Melbourne Price: $419 PRICE DROP! (New price dropped to $719) Item Condition: As new Reason for selling: No longer needed Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This Node 2 is about 18 months old but was only in use for 6 months. 2 reasons. I bought it mainly to hear how MQA files played but ended up cancelling my Tidal account as I preferred my long held Qobuz streaming app and they hadn't embraced MQA. There are many online reviews available but Johnnie Darko seems to be most comprehensive. "This single box and an accompanying app does it all: Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, Slacker and Napster with support for up to 24bit/192kHz for anyone enjoying a Qobuz Sublime+ account or streaming hi-res audio from a NAS device." https://darko.audio/2018/01/further-travels-with-the-bluesound-node-2/ Pictures:
  8. For those SNAers who may not be subscribed to the Newsletter thought I'd just post a heads up of the Runout Sale of the Bluesound 2 series components by their distributor in Oz ( details and link in News) now that the 2i models have landed. If, like me you've been looking to enter into dedicated streaming hardware this is a great opportunity, grabbed myself a new Node 2 with warranty and free shipping at a used price. Very happy, thanks SNA 😁
  9. Ok, so having recently sorted out my amp and speaker issues, I'm keen to upgrade the next weak link in my system. My System comprises Spatial Hologram M4 Turbo S, Moon 340i DP2x amplifier with built in DAC and the rather weak Sonos Connect. Most of my listening is done on Tidal HiFi and Spotify premium but I have some Hi Res stuff on a NAS that I want to listen to and want to build a better collection of quality local files. Trying to work out how/where to spend the $$$'s for the best ROI in SQ. I want to be able to run Roon but i've made it this far without so it could wait a little longer if there was a better value proposition out there. Bluesound node 2 / 2i: Reading about the 2i there are significant improvements to SQ over the 2 but will these be noticeable if I'm using the DAC on the Moon or an external DAC like the Chord Qutest? Would this result in a significant improvement over the Sonos when just using Spotify/Tidal or will these benefits only be obvious when using HiRes files and MQA? Does Bluesound Node have ability to adjust balance? my room is asymetric and I don't have balance controls on my amp so one speaker always sounds a little louder than the other. Cambridge Audio CXN: I love the form factor of this streamer but it doesn't have MQA although that's not really a deal breaker for me, just a nice to have. Is it a waste of money to buy this when the DAC in the Moon is likely better than the CXN? Alternatively do I keep the Sonos and upgrade the DAC further to the Chord Qutest? I have listened to the Qutest quite a lot with several systems including my old Peachtree Nova which is currently winging it's way to its new owner, but I haven't been able to do a direct comparison with the DAC on the Moon. I'm loving the sound from my system now but hankering after a little more resolution and detail retrieval. The Qutest is tempting but funds are limited due to the recent amp upgrade, Node 2 looks like it does everything I need, don't mind buying a 2i new if it means better detail retrieval through my onboard DAC. CXN doesn't seem like a good value proposition but it looks awesome and does most of what I need. Your thoughts, ideas, opinions and alternatives are welcome. Cheers, Brendon.

The cables are about 3 years old, free of scratches and coming from a smoke/pet free house and sound SUPERB. Heimdall cables are STEREOPHILE recommended cables as voted as extremelly valued for money, just short of their Valhallas. Time to upgrade.... Manufacturer's Description: The HEIMDALL loudspeaker cable uses a heavier gauge of twenty four 24 AWG OFC with an extruded silver surface. This cable uses our proprietary state of the art Micro Mono-Filament technology which reduces insulation contact with the conductors by more than 80%. This means that current signals traveling above the surface of the conductor are virtually unimpeded by the insulation material. With an effective dielectric constant of 1.12 HEIMDALL loudspeaker cables transfer signals more efficiently and at extremely high speeds. You can easily hear this with fabulous transient detail, superb imaging and magical sonic performance. A full system wired with HEIMDALL offers tremendous performance and value for money. The AWG Installation Cables come in two versions,?a 14 AWG two conductor cable called 14/2 and a 14 AWG four conductor cable called 14/4. Both cables were specifically developed for use in home theater in-wall installations. Both cables consist of two or four nineteen stranded silver plated 99.9999% OFC conductors for maximum flexibility. Each conductor is specially annealed before it is extruded in FEP. The conductors are then twisted and insulated with a special flame retardant PVC Alloy. Underwriters Laboratories Inc rates these cables as CL3P. This means that not only are these cables superb for home installations they can also be used in commercial installations such as hotels, office buildings etc. CL3P denotes plenum rating. This means that the cable is safe for use in a plenum or building air duct. In the event of a fire the cable will not act as a fuse and transmit flame from one room to another. For commercial in-wall installations in North America insurance regulations and building codes mandate the use of CL3P cabling. Due to its flexible design and low signal loss, it is ideal for running loudspeaker signals in multi-channel applications. Designed for ease of installation, it is an extremely durable cable and it will solve a multitude of installation problems. The AWG Installation cable is designed to compliment the new range of cutting edge home cinema cable products from Nordost. 18. I have a Node 2 hooked up as a streamer to my Rega Elicit R and Tannoy XT8F speakers. I am considering the Pulse Mini as a portable option for the kitchen and bedroom. The purchase price is ridiculous relative to the competitors in Australia ($1199 aud vs 499usd). Am I better off looking at something like the Sonos Play 5 or the Naim Qb or even the Dynaudio Emit M10 bookshelf? Any other worthy options to consider? Much thanks for advice.

  21. Hi, I need some help in finalising either Bluesound Node2 or Marantz NA6005 for my Hi Res audio streaming. Marantz is slightly expensive in my country but its on Sale so now both BSN2 and NA6005 cost same to me. I have Marantz PM6005 amplifier and the media streamer I'd choose has to feed into PM6005 DAC. I am not able to finalise because: Node2 would have extra Coax digital out that I need badly cause my PM 6005 Optical IN port plastic jacket is broken but its working perfectly and currently being fed by my MacBook and Chrome CastAudio. There are very positive reviews on Node 2 SQ, but I have not personally heard them. Marantz NA6005 being from same 6000 family would fit better with my PM6005 (at least from looks wise). NA6005 has Physical remote while BSN2 depends on Mobile App remote. NA6005 supports DSD playback while BSN2 does not (I do not care at all about DSD so its not a valid point for me at least to consider). NA6005 reviews are just Okayish but I have not personally heard them. has someone got personal experience of both of these streamers? Which one would you recommend here and why? thanks Srbh
  22. been considering one of these... appear to be a more mature version of the previous gen. as a bit of a back ground... I pretty much abandoned streaming sold off streamers etc, went back to disc.... what I have ripped really just for back ground music which play through Apple TV these days. though with a mature device like this one thinking what it is like in the whole rip to store to play - I really dont want to get all caught up with artwork, and tagging meta data and all that. And as a streamer whether off online or internet radio ? whats it like ? is the dac in it any good or is an external dac preferable ... and if so whats best means of hook up ? any feedback on this if someone has or has had a play
  23. Item: Bluesound PULSE Soundbar Location: Sunbury VIC Price: $1200 ($1799 RRP) - can courier Australia wide at cost. Item Condition: As new, with original packaging. Reason for selling: Was used purely for review (to be published next week), with the intention keeping it for personal use. Wife wants to go AVR and standmount speakers in lounge room now. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, EFT or Visa / Mastercard for known/long term StereoNET members. Extra Info: This soundbar was only released by Bluesound in October. Of all the soundbars I've heard, it's the most "hifi" in sound I have come across. In fact, I walked into a room prior to it's launch and was most impressed by what I believed to be the floorstanding B&W speakers that were flanking the TV. Imagine my surprise when I was informed it was the soundbar playing. I ordered one on the spot. For those that have already bought into the Bluesound multi-room platform, this acts as another discrete zone in your home. With Hi-Res playback ability and Roon integration coming before end of year, it's simply the best multi-room system around. There's also a matching wireless sub that will be released soon. I heard the Soundbar without the sub and I was already impressed. With the sub, I can only imagine this is all most people need in a living room. More information here: http://www.stereo.net.au/news/bluesound-announces-streaming-high-res-audio-soundbar And of course here: http://www.bluesound.com.au/bs_au/soundbar/pulse-soundbar/pulse-soundbar-black/c-36/c-1007/p-1559 Pictures: It's not currently in my possession as it is still with the reviewer, so can be picked up from Maribyrnong, Preston, or Sunbury. It's as new condition with all accessories etc. Stock images for reference.
  24. Item: Bluesound Node 2 Location: Melbourne Price: $650 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Just discovered and started a Roon Server trial directly on my QNAP Nas, fed straight into my Peachtree amp via USB. Really enjoyed the Node 2 but I’m ok with reducing components. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: - Purchased from the USA - Fully compatible with Aussie power supplies. Just needs a standard Figure 8 (2 pin) power cable. I have been using my own Merlin Black Widow MK6 FE Filtered Edition Mains Power Cable with it. Happy to sell that for extra with the Node 2 if you want a quality power cable, otherwise the Node 2 won’t come with an aussie cable (unless I find another one around the house and I’ll chuck that in free) - More than happy to demo the unit to the buyer - Happy to post interstate at buyer’s cost - Running the latest Bluesound firmware - MQA ready for when Tidal push the button on MQA streaming - Happy to sell my Analysis Plus toslink and coax cables too and Cat 7 ethernet cable too - Also selling my iFi SPDIF Purifier which I used with it on coax. Top notch product to go with the Bluesound Node 2. - Comes with all the original accessories and boxing - Any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask - Happy to add anymore pics if requested. It’s still hooked up and in use as per photo (I keep switching between it and my QNAP running Roon. Hurry before I change my mind!). Pictures:
  25. Hey all, Is anyone using the coaxial out? In all of my reading so far I've only noticed everyone using the Toslink out. My amp accepts 24/192 on the coax input, and 24/96 on toslink. Just wondering if anyone has anything against coax, or if they have a preference to the toslink out, specific to the Node 2. For a 1.0 meter cable connection (i.e. very short distance) is it safe to say there'll be no difference between these digital outs? Cheers
