So, sold my dynaudio contour 2's, so I could literally fund my entire new theatre setup. (Minus the screen) What Im currently searching for are my 2 fronts, I've boiled it down to Wharfedale 9.6's OR Dali Concept 8's...guys...which set?? Very hard to audition now as they're both discontinued and well, old. I see that the rrp of the concepts was about $2k, the wharfedales realistically around $1300, which seems the better speaker? These will be for movies, music is a very distant second in this setup. thanks J!

The Audile Solo Preamplifier is a hand built Australian made, valve pre. They used to be sold through Secher Audio until early 2011 at a rrp of $3800. I bought mine from Secher Audio used (I am the second owner) but had it serviced by the maker (who I believe is retired and now resides in rural Victoria). I can't give you the specs, nor can I tell you what valves etc are used. I'm not one to pull things apart. I know it works and what it did to the sound in my system and that was enough for me. It compared very favourably to a couple of recent lower-end Audio research pre's. Made by Barry/Bill Taylor. This pre was responsible for my switch to tube amps. I loved what it did to the sound of my solid state amps. I haven't used it for 12 months+ now as I found that it was too much of a good thing when partnered with some of my valve amps. It is perfect for those with solid state amps (even integrated amps with a pre out- which is how I got started) and speakers of low sensitivity, who have a slightly lean sound and want to flesh it out a little. I have heard it used to great effect with a Roksan K2. The Audile was my first upgrade from a very good first system and I haven't looked back. If you want more of a description as to my experience of the sound, send me a p.m. There a numerous inputs, even a 'monitor' switch which disables all the inputs for a more 'pure' approach. I only used the one input. It does not have a remote- that annoyed me when I was considering buying it, but in reality I didn't even notice. No it doesn't have an inbuilt phono. It won't: make your system sound like a 200k system, make you coffee, win you the title of 'world's sexiest man' (though I think it is pretty cool looking in a retro kind of way). It will: be perfect for those whose systems are a little lean and would like to try adding some 'valve' flavour, give you a class sound that is WAY beyond my price of $1100 require an audition to make sure that it is the right pre for you. If you are in Victoria, I am more than happy to try and arrange for interested parties the opportunity to trial it in their own systems, given that it is a relatively unknown brand. It is the sound that will sell, not the prestige of owning an 'Audile'. I am open to offers, particularly from those who may not have the luxury of being able to audition it in their system. I've compared the AUS original, and the various modern red vinyl repressings to these US original pressing on ODE Records, and the USA press is STREETS ahead, most noticeably on tracks like my favourite, "I'm Going Home". A near perfectly preserved piece of authentic 70's rock history. $58 AC/DC - Fly On The Wall – European original still in shrink and RL mastering (Atlantic - 781 263-1) NM/VG+. Has inner sleeve, and the cover still in more than 90% of the factory shrink still tight. The inner has three 3" seam splits, and the cover has just minor rubbing to the right-hand corners. The vinyl is awesome with just two minimal sleeve scuffs but plays strong and beautifully throughout with that Robert Ludwig mastering both sides (deadwax). $42 ZZ Top - The Best Of ZZ Top – German original (WB 56 598, BSK 3273) VG+/NM. The cover is still in 90%+ of the factory shrinkwrap with some light rubbing along right edge and some evidence of light bends. The vinyl is glossy and close to NM with a few very soft surface scuffs and plays perfectly. $38 Midnight Oil - Diesel and Dust - AUS original 1987 gatefold (CBS 460005 1) strong VG/VG+. Some edgewear, price sticker residue top left corner front, a hint of ringwear front and back the worst. Great OIS and the huge foldout poster is NM. Really nice cover, with clean front and just the odd mark on the back. Original paper inner sleeve, and colour lyric insert. The record plays with excellent SQ and with little to zero noise throughout. Really nice example on absolutely quality UK wax. Ahh, them 'ol days.... $36 Frank Zappa - Tinseltown Rebellion - AUS original double vinyl gatefold LP (S2BP 220239) VG++/VG++. This could have been minted yesterday. Awesome cover with no wear..would pass NM. Two mark free and absolutely clear discs, also easily NM. 'KDisc' mastering all 4 sides. $42 Little Feat - Let It Roll - AUS original pressing (25750-1) VG+/VG++. Really nice original with near perfect front, just a little edge wrinkling on the back bottom edge. As new OIS. Lovely record without a mark and totally noise free - plays like it is brand new. Nice!! $20 Little Feat - Hoy Hoy! - US pressed original gatefold (2BSK 3538) VG++/VG++. Awesome cover with no wear, and the original full colour booklet looking brand new. Two superb records tops off the best version of this you may find. Excellent SQ throughout. $26 Little Feat - Time Loves A Hero - AUS pressed original (BS 3015) VG/VG+. Nice cover with a little rubbing wear line across the top front and bottom, same on back with a small rip line in the bottom right corner. Original price sticker on front top right. Excellent OIS with no wear. Record sounds great, just carrying a few marks. $16 Little Feat - The Last Record Album - US 1975 original TML mastered (BS 2884) VG+/VG++. The cover looks awesome with just a hint of ringwear front and back and a small spine bend bottom left front the worst. Original Warner hype paper inner. Record is shmick and plays fantastic throughout. $20 Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac - The Original Fleetwood Mac - AUS compilation (SBP 234277) VG+/VG++. The cover is nice, with just a tiny hint of ringwear on front, and a little more on the back. No OIS (this title was never supplied with one). Record is really lovely and plays without a sound, but that which is intended. Sounds great too. $30 Everything But The Girl - The Language of Life - German pressing (BYN 21) VG+/VG+. Looks and plays great. With perfect colour lyric inner. The cover has some very light edgwear only, and a little name written inside the opening (not visible from outside). Wax shows some light hairlines in bright overhead light, but plays lovely throughout. Hard to find locally. $32 Spain - The Blue Moods of Spain - rare 1st time on vinyl 2012 double vinyl pressing of the 1995 classic (OVLP-30) SEALED MINT. 180gm Translucent Blue vinyl Ltd Ed. You *never* see this in this country (at least, I never have, and I look a lot). For those that know it, a GRAIL of the highest order. Fresh as the day it was minted and ready to be ripped open and played by a devotee. $95 Bic Runga - Winning Arrow - Four track 10" promo only unique Tui cover, signed clearly in silver marker (82876764811) NM/VG. The promo-only cover features a really nice clear signature from Ms.Runga and is in terrific nick. The 10" wax plays nicely with extensive storage ghosting on either side, but sounds great beyond the lead-ins with little to zero noise. Mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling NY, and heavily featuring Neil Finn on guest vocals, piano, guitar, harp and vibraphone. $22 REM - Life's Rich Paegant - AUS pressed original (ELPS 4550) VG+/VG+. Lovely set, with OIS, and plays wonderfully clearly and strongly throughout. 1st press local master was from Studio 301's A.Smart, and it's a beaut. $28 The Necks – 'Vertigo' 2015 import on their US label (52725 03552) Mint/Mint. Sealed new press. Like many of its predecessors, 'Vertigo' runs as one uninterrupted track, with 44 minutes roughly split between two interwoven movements. It does, however, break from the past by increasing the role of roaring electric guitar (played by drummer Tony Buck) and wafting-and-hiccupping synthesizers and electronic accessories (played by pianist Chris Abrahams). Unlike most of their albums, however, this one IS available on vinyl, thank god. Grab it, before it too becomes as rare as their talent. $42 Catherine Wheel – Ferment – dutch/Europe Orange and Gold mix vinyl repress (MOV LP1880) M/M sealed and brand NEW. 25th Anniversary Edition of 1500 copies (this is numbered #0545). Hi all, Do you want to get started with a scope widescreen setup then this is the perfect place to start. I am selling my CAVX Aussiemorphic MK3 lens with CA correction (not MK3+c). As you can see in the photos I currently have mine ceiling mounted and use a manual DIY slide to move in and out of the projector’s light path. This also comes with the lens. This is a great budget lens and have served me well. It is in excellent condition! I am happy to post, but will do so at the buyer's expense. $600 ONO
