I have heard a lot of positive reviews about this product (Cartridge Alignment Software), since it only operates under Windows OS (I am a Mac user and have stopped using PC for nearly 20 years), therefore I was quite reluctant to try it. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro and leave it untouched for age, why not have a try to install a Windows 7 under the bootcamp, and it turned out the installation was simple and easy, therefore I ordered a copy of this records / software from Decibel HiFi, and got delivered yesterday. Installation is quite straight forward, and have a test on one of my turntable systems - Technics SP10 MKII + SAEC 407/23 + Ortofon SPU Gold. I am quite confident that I did quite Ok with the cartridge alignment and tonearm cerebration , and I followed the factory recommendations i.e. VTF 3-5 grams and anti-skating accordingly, of course some adjustment based on hearing and vision (mainly using the bubble level). After testing the azimuth , VTA, VTF and anti-skating (I did skip few tests for my first preliminary testing), I was surprised to see the figures suggested by the testing i.e. VTF 4 g and Anti-skating 2.5g. The outcome does give me a big surprise, the improvement is quite significant, mainly on the bass and the treble high side, in return the sound is more neutral and better in dynamic , I am sure if I spend more time to complete the rest of the tests and fine tune each, I will expect more improvement to come.
