  1. Further information: This C500 from Audio-GD is a dual mono class-A parallel amplifier. It is rated at 250W@8ohm per channel. The build, as always from Audio-GD, is exceptional. It contains only audiophile grade components, including DALE resistors, WIMA caps, custom order NOVER (UK brand) caps, all audiophile grade input/output sockets and gold IEC sockets. The chassis is also very impressive with heavy heat sink. Input sockets: RCA x2; XRL x2; CAST x1 The build is reflected in its weight. The shipping weight is 39kg in a big box 48CMx44CMx19CM. I still have the original box. As far as sound is concerned. Audio-GD claimed that it is “very neutral and neuter, truly delivers the sound of source and doesn't add any colour”. Personally, having used it for some 8 years, I found it very similar to my age old Audiolab 8000C/P with the exception that the C500 has a slight edge in imaging, bass and of course sheer power. This amp is discontinued from current production. But its design is still very much alive in its current line of amplifiers. The one closest to this amp is the Master-10 which retails for US$2180 excluding shipping. The two even look the same externally. The amp also comes with a remote for channel and volume control. This is very useful. It negates the need to get up from your seat and change it at the amplifier. BONUS: A China-made power cable and a pair of speaker cables The power cable has US style plug. The original spec can be found here: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/amp/C500/C500EN.htm The Master-10 here: http://www.audio-gd.com/Master/Master102019/Master-102019EN.htm Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  2. Further information: Item: FS: ASR Emitter II amplifier Was asking $5500 originally) Extra Info: Purchased in late 2012. Have the upgrade kit to take it to 2014 spec (requires someone who is an expert solderer). Too big to take with me so letting go for way less than what I paid for it back in 2012 ($12.5k). I was using this beast to drive a pair of Rockport Avoirs and the sound was just awesome (ask Ed Kramer). Has 2x balanced inputs (not standard I believe) plus a sub out and a direct mode if you only have 1 component attactched to it. Always gets fantastic reviews which are well deserved. This is just way too big to ship overseas so it has to go. I have the original boxes so shippinh should be fairly easy (but not cheap I would guess). I think the combined weight is around 90Kg. 9. Hi I have a second hand NAD Stereo Integrated Amplifier C 326BEE that's not working properly. The amp powers on nicely and I've managed to get it working but only through the 'MAIN IN" channel, which is just directing the input straight out of the speakers. Any input connected to the MP, CD, TUNER, DISC, AUX, TAPE channels isn't amplifying, so there must be something out of place. Confidant the power and speaker output are working fine, and the lights on the front display are all lighting up. Has anyone had this issue before or any idea of what could be causing the problem? We took the case off and I've got no idea what I'd even be looking for... If you don't know how it could be fixed any comments on the quality of the amp / recommendations of repairs would be welcome. Cheers.
  10. Item: McIntosh C32 Stereo Preamplifier w/Original Case and Owners Manuals Location: Perth, Western Australia Price: $2,500 ono Item Condition: Near Mint. Second owner, stored in a glass front cabinet in a smoke free environment. Used periodically for about 6 years. Recently looked over by a service technician, no issues found but has been cleaned and RCA terminals have been polished. All in perfect working order, no noise, pops or cracks from dials. Reason for selling: I have recently decided to go with a mixer and two turntables, I now DJ for some extra income. Unfortunately I no longer have the room for both setups and as such I will be selling this pre-amp, along with the vintage turntable and power amp I was using with it. Stay tuned for those listings too. Payment Method: Pickup or ship at buyers expense - Cash, Paypal, COD, bank transfer Extra Info: This unit runs on US voltage and as such will require a suitable step up transformer. I also have one of these for sale. Can sell separately or include if the right offer is made. Feel free to contact me with any further questions. Thanks for looking! 11. Hi, I'm very new to audio. My current experience is related to headphones. I recently got some HD6xx (HD650) and a JDS Labs Atom and I love it. My only problem is that now my other audio equipment sounds awful in comparison. I have borrowed some speakers from my Dad who no longer uses them. As the title suggests they are Canton Karat 300's. The specs that I found online are as follows- Manufacturer: Canton Model: Karat 300 Production Years: 1986 - 1987 Produced in: Deutschland Color: Black, White, Walnut Measurements: 310 x 500 x 290 mm (WxHxD) Weight: 13,8 kg Technical Data Form: 3-Way closed, Compact loudspreaker (aka Bookshelf speaker) Chassis: Woofer: 260 mm Cone Midrange: 38 mm Dome Tweeter: 20 mm Dome Loading: 90/130 W (RMS/Peak) Sensitivity: 91,2 dB Frequency Response: 25 - 30.000 Hz Crossover points: 850 / 4.200 Hz Impedence: 8 Ohm I have been trying to figure out what kind of amp I should use to power them. They won't be in a massive room but I don't want to underpower them and cause damage (I've read that under powering can cause damage, please correct me if I'm mistaken). Can anyone suggest an amp that would do these speakers justice without driving price up very high. I'd prefer to be spending $400 or less if possible (I've got a feeling that this might not be possible). I can't figure out what kind of power I need and whether I should be looking at using my atom as a preamp. Essentially I'm confused and the more reading I do the more confused I'm becoming about what is needed. Haha! Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks for your time!

  16. I have no sound coming out of any channels at the moment. At first there was only surround sound no voice coming out of the speakers. Center Sub and front left were not working at all. I swapped speakers over to test the channels. Speakers were fine. I took off the hood and gave it a blow out. Made sure all connections ribbon cables and power cables were properly attached. Check capacitors for damage. Bursting or leaking, they looked good. Powered it on and off many times to flush out the capacitors. Connected and reconnected the power cables to the main board. I'm getting power to all the circuit boards. Did notice a channel coil was slightly touching another coil so i nudged it back upright away from the other coil so it was not touching. After i had done this none of the speaker channels worked. I've included some photos. What would cause the channels to stop outputting sound? I've checked the various inputs dvd and audio in. Also checked system menu anf dvd for speaker settings. I also have a marantz amp where the sound is not coming out of the right channel
  17. I am looking to replace some class A amps, not because I don’t like them but for practical considerations. But, having been spoilt by them, am struggling with where to go next. The issue – we have one living space that is used for listening to music, watching TV/movies but also provides background/ambient music during the evening. It is the later that causes the issue. Being class A (well first 50 watts) they produce a bit of heat, and while they don’t get overly warm to the touch they do heat up the room over time. As summer approaches again (in Perth) we have found that we are turning the stereo off, and only using it for more critical listening, and this somewhat defeats the purpose – particularly as off means no music! So I am seeking some thoughts on alternatives, I am looking (hoping) for that liquidness in the highs one gets with class A, but without so much heat. Have tried a class A/B amp but it is not quite as good – although I would probably be happy with it I had not owned the others . Are there class A/B amps that people would recommend in this regard and what about class D - or is that a step to far?
