  2. Item: Altec 604-168x Duplex Speaker 16" - Single speaker only Location: Sydney East REDUCED Price: $650 $550 plus postage Item Condition: Very good Reason for selling: Different Build Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank TT This speaker has the original bass cone in excellent order, and a replacement high frequency diaphragm. Both work perfectly and have the ferrite permanent magnets which superseded the AlNiCo (prone to losing their magnetic strength). The 168x refers to the 16 ohm HF and 8 ohm woofer impedance. Please see the original marketing flyer attached. https://www.technicalaudio.com/pdf/Duplex_Speakers_related_to_Altec_604/604_1983_604-16X_168X_Duplex_Speakers.pdf In 1944, Altec Lansing released what is possibly the most famous loudspeaker ever made by anyone – the 604 DUPLEX®. A 15″ co-axial loudspeaker, it revolutionized the studio monitoring world, and became the world standard by which all others of it’s type that would follow for the next 50 years. Nothing sounds more natural and lifelike than a properly operating 604! This model offered for sale is the Altec 604-168x and was made between 1982 and 1998. It boasts a different high-frequency horn than the previous models. It has Altec's Tangerine phase plug that extends high frequencies to beyond 20kHz (depending on diaphragm used). The new Mantaray horn is a constant directivity design new exponentially-flared radial horn that provides excellent upper end response not achieved in any previous version of the 604. When installed in a properly designed enclosure, its performance is, to say the least, impressive. Stereo imaging is amazing and very real-to-life. Perfect for studio monitoring, critical listening rooms, hotel ballrooms, professional sound reinforcement systems, and home audio systems of the finest order.

  6. Item: Altec Lansing 288-16K Large Format Horn Compression Drivers Location: Sydney South Price: $700 for the pair Item Condition: Very good, new 16 ohm diaphragms fitted, see pictures Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Only Extra Info: These compression drivers have recently had new Titanium 16 ohm diaphragms fitted. The diaphragms have been nicely centered, tested and work extremely well with large format Mantaray and Multicell Horns. These compression drivers can also be used with many other large format, 500Hz, 1.4" throat horns on the market. The midrange and frequency response from these drivers is outstanding and have been used in countless legendary Voice Of The Theater two way speaker systems. This is achievable due to the magnet structures being both the same for each model and being a ceramic magnet type less likely to require regausing in the future. These vintage American speakers are highly efficient and work really well with valves They go from 30 to 1500 khz, so benefit from an added tweeter or super tweeter.Thats a tweeter in the metal dome- but not a “shouty” paper woozer as far as i can tell. They were originally produced in a medium sized cabinet, and work really well in big boxes, around 7 cuft. They also work really well in open baffles, and JBL recomended them as theur best in wall speaker read about them here: http://www.lansingheritage.org/html/jbl/specs/home-comp/d123.htm These sell for around $340 but one of these has a couple of fine tears, which would be pretty easy to fix if you are into that sort of thing Gere is a post below about how to fix this Pictures:

Price: Was $1200, Now asking $1000 Item Condition: Very good for age Reason for selling: From estate of Russell Spokes (Krusty) I'm selling on behalf of his wife. Payment Method: Cash, DD. Extra Info: 4 posts in this topic Red MacKay Topic Starter Members 724 posts Location: Box Hill South Country: Australia First Name:Red Posted August 28 · Report post This pair of Altec 288C HF drivers come from Russell's collection. These are the ones that he used on his 805 horns. Overall condition is quite good, one of the ID labels is a bit scratched up, otherwise most of the paint is very good though. They are fitted with brand new diamond edge diaphragms from Great Audio Plains. The receipt/ paperwork and boxes from Great Plains are included here. One measures 12.2 ohms, the other 12.6 ohms. They are useable between 500hZ to 16K. ...And that is about all I know about them. They weigh around 10kgs each, so would prefer a pickup. However, I am willing to ship these at your expense. You will need to be a touch patient though as I make some boxes for safe travel. Thanks. 22. item. Altec 605B Duplex speakers with crossover location. Lane Cove NSW. price. $500. item condition. Working, good condition accordian surround on one speaker damaged reason for selling. No longer being used. payment method. COD on pickup only extra info. If you are reading this far you know what these speakers represent :-) These are 16 Ohm duplex speakers, purchased in 1978, have been used in a home basis since then. Surround was damaged in moving from 620 box to 8cu ft box(SAF!) in '96. It was (I consider) only minor damage. The grey glue on the surround is a Bostic type flexible glue. Please note these do NOT include any type of enclosure, these are raw speakers. Please also note that this is pick up only - absolutely and totally - no couriers, no freight. You must pickup and pay. pictures.
  23. Item: Shindo Petite Latour Loudspeakers Location: Brisbane Price: $9,900 Item Condition: 7/10, some minor marks, second owner Reason for selling: Upgrade to full size Shindo Latour Payment Method: Negotiable Extra Info: This is a somewhat unique opportunity to purchase a pair of Shindo "Petite" Latour Loudspeakers, rarely available on the second hand market, even more-so in Australia. These are the "Alnico" version using modified Altec 1" HF and 12" LF drivers, Western Electric/Altec horn, proprietary adjustable crossover networks, and hand tuned resonate cabinets. The cabinets are finished in beautiful Pau Ferro (rosewood) veneer with trademark speaker legs. Sound is as good as they look, rich, coherent and open. The ideal compliment to any full Shindo system. The cabinets are approximately 45cm wide x 45cm deep and 120cm tall, the legs add around 6cm to the width at the base of the cabinets, weight is unknown but I estimate around 30-35kg per speaker, so not exactly 'petite' by modern standards. I have rated them 7/10 due to not being the original owner, there are some minor hairline scratches and small marks from previous shipping. There is also some fading of the cabinets from sunlight exposure, visible in the attached photographs around the grill area, otherwise they are in original condition. They are approximately 5 years old (2007). Reason for sale is the desire to upgrade to the full size Shindo Latour. As above I am located in Brisbane, but will ship Australia wide, or even international, freight costs will be quoted on an individual basis to serious buyers. Approximate crated dimensions are 120cm (L) x 66cm (W) x 145cm (H), and ~100 Kg if you would like to obtain your own estimates. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions, or would like more pictures. Pictures:
