  2. Item: Linn LP12 Location: Perth Price: 1600 ono Item Condition: good Reason for selling: small child is now almost ready to destroy everything I own. Best it go somewhere safe. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Early Linn LP12 for sale equipped with Rega RB300 tonearm and Linn Asak moving coil cartridge. I am told that I am the third owner of this beauty with the original owner having it for many decades. The second owner got a newer Linn rather than upgrade. The fluted plinth is in pretty good condition with a few small nicks as seen in the photos. Lid is crack free with only minor swirling. Hinges replaced by myself so are almost new. No idea about the hours on the cartridge but it plays without a hitch and stylus looks very straight. I've put on less than 50 hours personally having only got it right before our child was born. It has been well looked after by all owners and I even have the original documents. Bonus shim for the tonearm in case you need to raise the height to accommodate a different cartridge. Happy for inspections for anyone in Perth. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  3. Item: Micro Seiki BL 91 turntable with SME 309 tonearm Location: blue mountains nsw Price: 3400 Item Condition: very good Reason for selling: a very reluctant sale but want funds for another project . Payment Method: cash , PayPal +% , transfer Extra Info: a very special combo. the SME 309 should need no introduction - see online reviews. superb in styling and a breeze to use. the micro seiki is simply a beautiful turntable both in form and function. from vinyl engine specs site it "Features a massive, thick, 12.2 inch platter, employing special alloy bearings machined and polished with techniques usually reserved for turbojet engines. Micro Seiki engineers devised an exclusive oil-bath damping system to support the entire rotating assembly in complete isolation from all mechanical resonances. A precision-ground drive belt connects the rotating assembly to the brushless, servo-controlled motor with total isolation from motor generated vibration. In fact, the BL-91 (L) is probably the smoothest, most vibration-free device of its kind ever built. the plinth is multi-laminar natural wood finished with hand rubbed natural ebony... 16 kg" all original handbooks for SME and micro seiki. . please note the benz cart is NOT included in sale price . please also see blemish on tonearm where it sits in holder ( common )and blemish on plinth. also the wire connectors on the tonearm head shell to cartridge have shabby insulation that is unnoticeable from above and does not affect performance. would prefer a pickup but will consider postage. preference for pickup. will consider seperating - although the unit is functionally and aesthetically outstanding as it is. .

  5. Item: NAD 5120 Turntable with Ortofon OM5E Location: Melbourne, Australia Price: $250 Item Condition: Excellent overall. Perfect working condition, great cosmetically (perspex lid has superficial scratches from years of being wiped/cleaned). Reason for selling: Upgraded to a new TT Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This NAD 5120 is a time capsule. I bought it mint from a gentleman in the outer Melbourne suburbs in 2012, he had bought it brand new in the late 80s, used it for a couple of months then stopped using it and had put it back in its original box. For 20+ years it was in storage in its original box and when I bought it I had the pleasure to unbox it again. The sticky tape had almost perished / disintegrated and left a sticky mess.. nothing a citrus cleanser can't fix of course. Sounded pretty good out of the box (I had it hooked up to a Rega Fono Mini) but I knew the original cartridge and stylus would've been long past its best before date. I put a fresh Ortofon OM5E, a new drive belt and took it to Carlton AV for a proper setup and voila, it sings! Over the last 9 years I have enjoyed the NAD, listening on average only 1-2 hours per month - it did not get much use at all. Very very clean deck overall and well looked after. Stylus is regularly cleaned with a carbon bristle brush and has dust cap included. The NAD 5120 is the epitome of NAD's quirkiness + 80s overengineering. The sub-plate is floating, suspended by springs, isolated from the main chassis from vibration. The counterweight is freely sprung in a magical 80s viscoelastic liquid in a reservoir! NAD calls it DVA - Dynamic Vibration Absorber. Patrick Bateman would've been really into this. Lastly, it has a super handy auto-stop function which I really like.. you can listen to records to sleep and not worry about the stylus being ground to oblivion. Own (and listen) to this 80s vintage piece of cool. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  9. Hey, I bought a Rega planner 1 a few months back and have been enjoying it immensely. Just recently I’ve noticed it had a considerable amount of vertical wobble in the platter. I’m talking five or six mm. Moved the platter on the sub at five degree intervals and it made very little difference. Is this play deemed an acceptable amount of tolerance. To my mind I’d think not. I know the deck is a basic starter unit but I thought I’d be getting decent quality buying a recognized brand name. Any thoughts on the issue ? What would be the course of action to follow ?

  11. Hi all, I’m after some advice about a new turntable. I have so many questions but I’ll try to keep this post to the essentials at the moment. Basically, I’m after turntable, possibly vintage, of reasonable quality. I’ve got approval for $300 from the wife but I reckon I could push her to $400 without too many issues. I’d be playing these through a pair of Dali concept bookshelf speakers and either an 80s era Yamaha amp (nothing special) or a more recent pioneer amp. A better amp purchase will come later. My music choices will be rock/indie, all eras, a lot of modern stuff like Radiohead, the National, Bon Iver. Also a little bit of jazz. I’m quite handy with electronics and mechanical stuff so a vintage turntable doesn’t scare me with maintenance. I service my own guitars and amps just fine so I think I’ll pick it up alright. I’m currently looking at a pioneer pl-15r for $260 that has been serviced by a guy in Adelaide that sells a lot of vintage gear. There’s also a pioneer pl-15d for $150 but this would need some work to get it right. Are these worth it? I keep reading about getting a project debut on the forums but an all manual turntable scares me a bit. I’m the kind of guy who will put a record on and then get distracted by something and leave the thing spinning for hours so an auto return deck seems to be the right fit for me. Unless you all say I’m an idiot and the project is so much better than the pioneer that I’d be stupid to consider anything else. I've also got my eye on a dual cs505-2 in good nick for $175. These seem to be a bit more complicated and may not be anything special anyway. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. I don’t need audiophile quality or anything, just something that will sound good and I won’t outgrow in 6 months. Thanks, sorry for the essay, Ferg

  19. Item: Sansui SR-212 Vintage 70s Turntable - Japan - Professionally Restored & Upgraded Location: Sydney Price: $450, open to reasonable offers Item Condition: Very Good, recently serviced/restored/upgraded and working. Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I recently inherited this Sansui SR-212 turntable , which is of 1970s vintage and is made in Japan. The turntable employs a unique multiple suspension/insulation system to eliminate howling ( it has a suspended sub-chassis design). The deck is in really nice condition, no major blemishes to speak of. Even the lid is in good condition, no cracks and the hinges also appear to be working fine. It did need some minor repair work to get it up and running, so I engaged Chris from Spin Doctor Music here in Sydney to repair/restore the deck for me which he did very well. In the process the following upgrades were also made to the deck : Brand new drive belt Brand new Jelco HS-25 cartridge shell was purchased and installed onto the tonearm Brand new Ortofon 2M Silver MM phono cartridge was purchased, installed and aligned Brand new AUS power cord was installed Initially I thought I might use this Sansui TT in a second system, but It turns out that I won't be making use of it after all. So , it's up for sale now to someone who can make use of it. Everything is in good working order, including the arm cueing and auto-return mechanism. Platter speed has been tested by Spin Doctor Music and is accurate and stable at both 33.1/3 and 45 speeds. Some more info and general specs on this turntable are available here: https://www.vinylengine.com/library/sansui/sr-212.shtml Note of course that this one has the Ortofon 2M Silver cart and Jelco headshell upgrades. The Ortofon 2M Silver seems to sit between the 2M Blue and the 2M Bronze in the Ortofon 2M lineup. I will also provide the original headshell and also the (probably very worn out) original SC-37 IM cartridge. I don’t have any boxes or packaging for the deck, so I would prefer local pickup from Sydney. I've also got the original operation manual for it. The new Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge and Jelco HS-25 headshell together alone would cost over $400 RRP. Buyer will need to add their own RCA-RCA phono cable to connect the deck to an amp/phono stage. Local pickup Sydney only. COD payment is easiest, or happy to receive a bank/BSB or PayPal Friends transfer before pickup. 20. Item (relist): Micro Seiki BL-51 Turntable with Rega RB301 tonearm + 1 new Thakker belt Location:Richmond, Melbourne Price: $700 (no cartridge or dust cover) including extra belt, or $25 dollars for brand new Thakker belt only Item Condition: Looks Great apart from the dent to one corner, mechanically good, with speed rock solid with the new Thakker belt and a second spare Reason for selling: replaced by : currently have 3 other turntables Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+3%), COD Only. No shipping at this stage. Extra Info: Given I don't have the original box I prefer not to ship, so pickup only. This turntable is very quiet with a quick startup, and has that great classic look with a great wood effect (if that is what you are after). I have polished up the aluminum platter and it looks good. The Rega RB301 tonearm is a solid performer and has continuous RCA cable feeding out through the turntable. Any 3 point REGA arm could be fitted here. There is no lid, but that could be manufactured by local plastic companies. No cartridge included but a low to mid range MM or cheaper MC would be ideal. Pictures:
  21. HI Guys,I'm looking for a good place in Melbourne for my SL1210 MK2 need a service.thanks
  22. Hi All, I have just taken delivery of a Kenwood KP-9010. I love these beasts, I also have a KP-7010 and a KP-1100 (soon). I know I don't need to tell anyone here what happens when you get hooked on one particular brand or model The 9010 has just arrived and essentially it's in beautiful condition and generally speaking operates flawlessly. you know there's a "but" coming... But, the tonearm lift mechanism is not working as it should. My 7010 lifts and lowers very smoothly but this 9010 drops the tonearm like a stone. It's less than subtle. I've read through a service manual for a similar turntable but there's nothing specific about the mechanical servicing of this component. I'm just wondering if anyone on Stereo.net has had any experience with this particular fault on these Kenwoods or might have some suggestions please? And I'm sorry there's no pics, in my excitement yesterday when it arrived I spent all my time setting up the tonearm, headshell and cartridge and then listening to records I simply forgot. I'll post some pics tonight, I promise.
