  2. Item: Realistic R-8010 Location: Central Coast, NSW Price: $75 Item Condition: Really rather good! Reason for selling: Not using (have a Systemdek) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Came with a Shure N91 with a broken stylus; new stylus sourced and provided (cost approx $30) Description (courtesy of Vinyl Engine) The Realistic R-8010 Precision Belt Drive Turntable is designed to meet the high standards of performance that audiophiles expect for superior sound reproduction of their disc recording. The turntable employs a powerful, 4-pole Synchronous motor for unwavering, perfect speed with instant acceleration. The motor, which turns at 1800 rpm, reduces the primary rumble to 30Hz. The belt-drive system absorbs the slightest vibration of the motor to give excellent signal-to-noise ratio. The S-shaped tone arm keeps the stylus of the cartridge perpendicular to the radius of the groove over the full surface of the record, which means low distortion and perfect tracking at less than 3 grams. The turntable comes complete with a Vertical Moving Magnet type cartridge with 0.4 x 0.7 mil diamond stylus that faithfully produces frequencies between 20 to 20,000Hz while maintaining good channel separation. NOTE: Only issue I can see is that the hinges which hold up the lid have became a little brittle with age so the springs are poking through, preventing the lid from holding itself up. Specifications Type: auto return; Drive method: belt drive; Motor: 4-pole synchronous; Platter: 300mm aluminium alloy diecast Speeds: 33 and 45rpm; Signal to noise ratio: 45dB; Wow and flutter: 0.08% wrms Tonearm: static balance type, S-shaped tubular arm tube; Effective length: 215mm; Overhang: 10mm Cartridge weight range: 4 to 10g Dimensions: 442 x 145 x 365mm Weight: 6.2kg Item: Teac P-70 turntable Location: Central Coast, NSW Price: $50 Item Condition: Works fine - no lid though Reason for selling: Not using (have a Systemdek) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Has a cartridge through no idea what it is! Description Teac P-70 automatic, direct drive turntable. This turntable is working fine, with 33/45 selection, pitch adjustment with strobe confirmation, automatic tonearm cueing for 7" & 12" records, anti-skate, arm up/down, straight tonearm with removeable headshell, plus it comes with a 45rpm adapter. Has a cartridge and stylus fitted, but unsure of the quality of these. No perspex lid. size, approx 43w x 39 d Specifications I have no idea. Can't find any info on the web. Pictures:
  3. I'm after a cheap (around $300, say) system for classical music. I don't need a thumping bass or high volume, just a clear neutral sound across a fairly wide dynamic and tonal range. My options seem to me: micro hifi system (Onkyo CS-265, for example), powered speakers (such as Yamaha NS-333), unpowered speakers + amplifier (too complicated for my tiny brain). Mostly I'll be streaming from my phone, tablet, or computer using Spotify, and the occasional audio file as well. I don't need a CD player, or a radio receiver. (A USB port would be nice, though). And quite happy to go second hand. Oh - and small: bookshelf equipment. One more constraint: I don't have any Apple products, so an Apple dock would be useless. As I know sweet nothing about hifi, the more I read, the more confused I get. So I'm hoping knowledgeable people round these 'ere parts might be able to give me some advice! Thank you all,

  6. Item: Sanyo Z5 projector Location: Melbourne East Price: $300 ono Item Condition: Excellent considering age Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought this projector when 1080p was the new big thing and very $$$$ and I only had $$$ to spend. From memory this was still around $3500 but have owned for 10 years or so and original owner. As far as 720p projectors are concerned it was about as good as they got and the picture is excellent (very sharp on a 100" screen considering the limitations of 720p)... and indestructible. I patiently waited for it to die so I could upgrade and the bugger refused to. My wife finally took pity on me and bought me a JVC X7000 for Christmas 2015 and I was holding on to this to put in the kids retreat but figured still being 6&7yo it will be too long before we set up that room and they can always use the dedicated HT room when friends come round. This would make a great projector for a kids room, a mates man shed or even trying an outside set up. I do have the ceiling mount that was very stable and for an extra $50 will include a 10m active HDMI cable. Pictures: to follow from my phone

  10. Hi everyone, Whilst I am recovering from my various surgeries I have been bored witless. Going through my 40 odd years of collected stuff I have found stuff I didn't know I owned. A lot of this has been sold by my son on DIYaudio. But, I have decided to keep most of my drivers, hence this thread. Now to the project at hand. A wallmounted thin system for TV or HT types. I found in my sheds the following. 1 pair of Tang Band WT-1427B and a pair of Tannoy 6.5" DC units. The TB's are a shallow highpower woofer that on measurement appears suited for a TL, they will work equally well in vented or sealed boxes with a bit of eq. I have decided on a TL as it allows for a more pleasing shape to be created. The drawings have been done and just need approval by the owner of the room (not me). This will be updated with pics as soon as I start cutting, hopefully in the next couple of days. Pics of drivers

  12. Item: Laserdisc Collection Location: marrickville, Sydney Price: $10 if just one, really $5 each, or swap for other titles if you have a collection too, or vinyl, almost anything.. Item Condition: varies Reason for selling: far too many to keep!! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: updated with link to list (this also includes my faves which I won't part with so..) http://www.scribd.co...-Discs-for-Sale Hi all, I bought an entire collection of Laserdiscs, quite a big collection of around 1200 discs, have pulled out a few favourites ..a few hundred... hey I'm an ex video store guy :-P Now I'm going to slowly try and clear as many of the rest as I can to keep the other half happy and clear up room on the shelves for Vinyl, so I offer them here before taking them to the "Bay" just in case any fellow collectors are out there... not after a lot of cash per disc, if buying just one though $10, if more than one or a repeat $5 each, very happy to swap for vinyl or trade for other interesting things, even liquor, wine or beer are welcome.... use your imagination if you have a player laying around and want some classic movies for it.. I'd not like to post them, but will for whatever the Post office charges or courier if I must, I work in Newtown and live in Marrickville, can carry a few (maybe 10 safely on my little Vespa) won't travel far though and would prefer either requests for titles ( I probably have it) or browsing is welcome, not at crazy hours obviously, I work most weekends too BTW... Hi Fi retail has both perks and drawbacks like everything else.. I have old classic MGM style movies, Karaoke, music videos, martial arts, anime, drama, bible bash movies, Dick Tracy stuff, Horror, Thriller, Action, you name I probably have it, and am happy to swap with other collectors if they have something that would fit in my favourites.. also available and cheap too, is a LD player to play them on as I bought a very good quality Japan only model, so don't need my standard one anymore.. happy to swap for vinyl guys... please note, a fair few from the list have been sold, and I have others not on the list, I just checked and the list is still there at least so, happy about that!

  14. Hi there, Been researching a few options to get together a speaker / subwoofer set ups for around $500. Keen to muck around with seperate speakers / subwoofers / amps etc if its louder / cheaper - like car speakers. Bit of background info: making a unit that can be hired out at various parties, so just needs to be as loud as possible with good bass to keep cutsomers happy. Speakers / everything will not be visible (behind a speaker fabric / mesh), so doesn't matter what they "look" like they'll sound like. Option 1 - logitech z-5500 speakers http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-Z-5500-5-1-Digital-Speaker-System-Z5500-PC-PS3-XBOX-Optical-SPDIF-/170903008762?pt=AU_Laptop_Accessories&hash=item27ca9cf5fa#ht_4781wt_986 Option 2 - car speakers / amp. not sure how loud this will be or if $500 is enough to make it viable - 10 inch sub? 12 inch sub? 2 subs? 6 inch speakers? tweeters? done a car install before and done a lot of researching on prices on ebay and other stores. Option 3 - dj / PA speakers - no idea about these never looked in to them - good option? which ones? cost effective? Other options?? basically looking for most cost effective option that is LOUD! Thanks a lot hopefully you know a bit about some of these options and can help me out!! Much appreciated!! Daniel.
