  1. Item: Burson V5-OPA-S x 2 Location: Mosman Price: 50 Item Condition: used Reason for selling: not needed Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Purchased on fleabay with a view of updating a tube dac I had lying around.. Discovered that these are single, not dual, op amps hence incompatible. Markings are a bit patchy as they come off easy. Although used, will guarantee purchase. Will post any where for $10 express post Pictures:
  2. Hey peeps, The official sources don't mention one way or the other whether Burson Audio's Conductor V2+ supports Linux (I'm running Ubuntu) as a source on the USB interface. Just wondering if anyone out there has these components in their setup and can chime in with any first hand experience. Thanks, DD04.
  3. Item: Burson Conductor V2+ Location: Blue Mountains Price: $800 neg. + postage & fees Item Condition: 9/10 Reason for selling: Funding another project Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is the Burson Conductor V2+ which also includes the high end DAC. This is a very powerful headphone amp which can drive a full range of headphones. Its in perfect condition and has been well looked after. It also includes the blue USB cable in the photo and the high quality remote machined from metal. There are plenty of great reviews of this Headphone amp/DAC online. Pictures:
  4. Item: Burson Conductor CV2+ (yes, this is the version with the DAC) Location: Sunny Nanango, Qld, 4615. Price: $550 firm (includes postage to the eastern states, maybe an extra $10 or $20 to WA or TAS) Item Condition: Excellent, just over 2 years old. Reason for selling: I've upgraded to a Gross DAC so the faithful Burson is not required anymore. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Comes with original double box and all original extras, cables, remote, etc. See pics for details. Pictures:
  5. Burson seem to love to produce products that are almost like other companies products but just that little bit different. I received an email today telling me about the new usb DAC and headphone amp called the Play, and was surprised to find that you can slot it into your computer. Cool! It's available for pre-order now, link below. https://www.bursonaudio.com/products/play/
  6. Item: BURSON SOLOIST SL Headphone Amp Location: Adelaide Price: $200 O.N.O. + Delivery Item Condition: As new Reason for selling: I recently bought a little LUXMAN SQ-N100 Amp which has a headphone output jack and doubles as one of the best headphone amps. I do not use my SOLOIST SL anymore. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: The amp was used less than 50 hours. Pictures:
  7. Item: Burson HA-160 headphone amplifier Location: Williamstown, Victoria Price: $250 + post Item Condition: Has cosmetic scratch and dent but working perfectly Reason for selling: Too many HP amps! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: I'll just refer to the original ad below which I bought it from... great price for a great HP amp Frankly it doesnt look as bad as the previous ad makes out, you dont sit there staring at the back or underside of the unit. Powerful, smooth, great sound. Volume control crackles a little as you turn it - its a stepped volume control, but balance is perfect. I'll try cleaning the volume control this week as I've seen hows its sreviced. Pictures:
  8. Burson were kind enough to lend me their brand-spanking new 100W Timekeeper Virtuoso. Alex said it had already had 100hrs on the clock for quality control. It's benefited from some more burn in time over the past week. The longer I've had it, the more I appreciate what it can do. I will post some impressions soon. But keen to hear from others who have heard it too. If you are interested in hearing one in your home, post it here and get in touch with Burson: https://www.bursonaudio.com/products/timekeeper-virtuoso/ info@@BursonAudio.com Luke 🎼
  9. Item: Matrix M-stage headphone amplifier with Burson V5 opamp upgrade Location: Brisbane Price: $150 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Upgraded to DAC / AMP combo Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: Provided with the V5 (installed) and the original opamps. This was connected to an Oppo 105 driving AKG Q701 headphones. The V5 to my ears made a very nice improvement. Smoother, warmer sound and a much lower (darker) noise floor. Only selling as I've purchased a Marantz HD-DAC1. Prefer local pickup but can post at buyers expense. Pictures:
  10. Item: Burson Audio Buffer AB-160 Location: Castlemaine VIC (or pickup Melb Wed 7th). Price: $250 Item Condition: Excellent, clean, a few faint marks on top plate. Reason for selling: No longer needed. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, EFT. Extra Info: This is used for sorting out impedance mismatches between components, especially between CDP and amp, which is how I used it. My amp had low input impedance, so I was having to crank the volume dial right up to reach the desired level. Adding the buffer actually improved the sound of my CDP, providing more drive and slam, along with the boost in volume. It's a very solid aluminium half-size case, weighing 3.5kg. 2 inputs, 1 output. Here's a review from way back, which refers to the previous model: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/burson/buffer.html Pictures:
  11. Has anyone has the pleasure of trying the Burson Cable+ Active RCA Cable? I've just read an interesting review about it. http://www.avrev.com/home-theater-accessories/av-cables/burson-cable-active-rca-cable-review.html
  12. Item: Burson Buffer Location: Coogee Sydney Price: $70 (plus postage) Item Condition: OK for age. Screws showing rust dust. LED flickers occasionally. Reason for selling: Not required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is an early Burson Buffer in a plain black box. I bought it about 6 years ago 2nd hand to play around with. It worked really well between an old Counterpoint tube pre-amp and Quad 99 power amp. Apparently, they also work well with old FM tuners. The label on the back is faded. Here is a review. From the pics, this is the model that I have. http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue29/burson.htm I haven't used it for a while but I've just plugged it in and all is OK. EDIT: after a few hours I've noticed that the LED is flickering occasionally. There is no noise so the lamp probably just needs to be replaced. Pictures:
  13. Item 1 : Burson Conductor (the first model with the stepped attenuator and no remote, sabre DAC) Location: Sunny Nanango Qld. Price: $400 Item Condition: Excellent electronically, very good aesthetically, a little light scuffing (difficult to photograph on aluminium). Reason for selling: My storage capabilities are maxed out so I need to move a few things on, also I upgraded to the new Conductor V2+ a few months ago and so have no need for this older model. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Extra Info: Purchased directly from Burson, can't really remember when but I'm guessing it was 2011 or 2012. Has been used as my standard DAC for TV and movie watching from purchase until a few months ago when the new model showed up. Used to power HD700 headphones on occasion with no issues, used as a preamp every now and then with a wide range of power amps, again with no issues. Comes with original box and manual. Item 2 : Burson PP-160 Power Amp Location: Sunny Nanango Qld. Price: Also $400 Item Condition: Very good aesthetically, again a little light scuffing (difficult to photograph on aluminium). Reason for selling: My storage capabilities are maxed out so I need to move a few things on and the Burson gear is just the first of what I am sure will be many for sale adds. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Extra Info: Purchased second hand, a previous owner had a tech mod it internally to remove the valve booster functionality (which I personally consider to be a damn shame but these things happen) so it is only a power amp with a single input. Will be posted in the box that originally contained my Burson PI-160 (which I won't need because I'm never selling it). Item 3 : Burson PRE-160 Pre Amp Location: Sunny Nanango Qld. Price: You guessed it, $400 Item Condition: Very good aesthetically, excellent electronically. Reason for selling: My storage capabilities are maxed out so I need to move a few things on and the Burson gear is just the first of what I am sure will be many for sale adds. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Extra Info: Purchased directly from Burson at the end of the production run. Comes in original box (which I will admit has seen better days, I will wrap the whole thing in plastic wrap to seal it up) with original manual. Pictures:
  14. Item: Burson Audio Conductor (Headphones Amplifier with inbuilt DAC with Preamp outputs)Location: MelbournePrice: $950 onoItem Condition: ExcellentReason for selling: SurplusPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal friends/family (buyer pays all fees), Direct DepositExtra Info: This has been a great all-in-one unit. It was optioned with the upgraded USB module when purchased from Addicted to Audio which really improves the sound vs the standard USB. Burson's sound is warm, articulate and has excellent pace and impact without being brittle, lean or sharp. With 4W output it can also drive difficult loads, but with 3 variable gain settings it offers a lot of flexibility. The item also features the stepped resistor attenuator usually only reserved for far higher end products. This ensures excellent channel matching and purity of signal path. Stepped attenuators make a lightly audible zipper sound through the phones/outputs when turned - this is entirely normal! Attractively minimal it looks great sitting on your desk. Demonstrations welcome if you are local. Still has warranty remaining (Burson have a 5 year warranty) Note on condition - There is no damage visible on the item. I do have the original boxes and foam inserts for shipping if required. I have misplaced the Toslink cap! Note on shipping - I will ship, but it's at the buyers risk and cost. I would strongly suggest using pack and send sensitive freight, I can drop it off at my local office and they will call you - you arrange and pay for freight and deal with them directly henceforth.

  16. Did anyone else get an email in the last week regarding Burson launching a new subsidiary site for their DIY oriented products? The Lycan headamp/opamp tester looks like an interesting piece of gear, I mean I'm not much into headphones but it has managed to pique even my interest. It seems Burson are moving into the 'garage style' side of the headphone market. It's preorder only at the moment, no shipping until September so there will be a bit of a wait until any product reviews pop up. The pic below is the one they included in the email. Anyone got any more info on this new move by Burson?
  17. Check this new Timekeeper Virtuoso out. http://www.bursonaudio.com/products/timekeeper-virtuoso/ Now hands up everyone who went weak at the knees when they saw the size of the torroidal transformer. I know I did.
  18. I was just surfing about earlier today when I decided to check out the Burson web site, just in case something was happening that I hadn't seen the last hundred or so times I'd been there, and something had. I had heard, long, long ago, that Burson was working on a remote control but had heard nothing since then (and that was back before the Timekeepers made an appearance) so it had just slipped into the back of my mind and been filed in the "Interesting but not yet important" folder and then quietly forgotten. Until now, Burson seem to have moved away from their 24 step volume control with three gain settings to a new 100 step volume control which is operated via volume knob or remote. They seem to have done a redesign of the DAC board too but I'm not sure how relevant that is as it doesn't seem to be mentioned on the new blurb page. (I'm guessing the update on the blurb page isn't finished yet, it still has a few pics of the old model mixed in with the new one.) So it's the same conductor but more convenient for lazier people. (The audiophile within me is only mildly curious, but the TV watching fat, lazy, couch-dwelling, arse-scratching bastard within me is smiling (and belching in elation) as he contemplates no more getting up to change the volume control on the new Conductor) Check it out here: http://www.bursonaudio.com/creations/conductor/
  19. I've been running in a pair of the new, 4th Generation, of Bursons' Discrete Opamp replacements, dubbed the "Supreme Sound" Opamps and I'm enjoying them. They seem a little smoother than the standard OPA2604 chips that came standard with my Consonance cd120 player. Once I'm happy that they have "run in" I'll give them a run against the 3rd gen discrete opamps and see if I can tell the difference, so far the performance of the 4th gen discretes are reminding me of what I remember hearing when I was trialing the 3rd gen pair so I'm expecting similar performance. One thing I am happy about is that the dip 8 adapter (shown on the 3rd gen module in the pic below but not on the 4th gen, for whatever reason) on the 4th gen is only pressed in so you can remove it and take 5mm or so off the height of the overall module, this means it will actually fit inside the case of the Consonance without me having to add a couple of layers of felt to lift up the top of the case. I see this as a very big improvement. I stole this pic from the Burson web site, mine are stuck inside the Consonance at the moment. Has anyone given these new, 4th gen, discrete opamps a run against the 3rd gen ones? Or against anything else for that matter?
  20. I've recently acquired a Sennheiser HD650 and I'm currently looking for a headphone amp under the $1k mark. The source of my desktop system is an iMac27. Ideally I'd like a DAC+Pre+Head amp to be able to drive my active Audioengine A5+ speakers as well. I'm considering a Schiit Bifrost USB Gen2 & Uber upgrade ($705 at Addicted to Audio), SOtm sHP-100 ($999 at Addicted to Audio), or a 2nd Burson. Any suggestions?
  21. Item: One Burson PRE-160 and PWR-160 component system. Location: Bowen, Nth Qld. Price: $900 each (including postage to the eastern states, extra $20 to WA and TAS) or $1700 for the pair. Item Condition: Preamp is excellent, power amp is almost excellent (the aluminium finish on the power amp is not quite as nice as the finish on the preamp, not due to anything except the finish from the factory, the preamp is a later model, which happened to have a nicer finish, than the power amp which is an earlier model) The power amp has been modified internally so it can no longer be used in its "valve booster" role. Reason for selling: Been eyeing off an Audio GD Precision 2. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Deposit Extra Info: Have original boxes and packaging for both but only the manual for the preamp. Pictures: Please note that the Rotel in the middle was only on loan and is not part of the sale. And just in case someone wanted a 'lid lifted' shot.
  22. Item: Burson Soloist Solid State Headphone Amplifier/Pre-Amp - SOLD Location: Glen Waverley or Richmond, Victoria Price: $645 (RRP: $899) Item Condition: Very Good. Perfect working condition. Reason for selling: No longer using the Mad Dog 3.2 which I pair it with. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Includes both ALPS Pot AND Stepped Attenuator as well as one RCA set that came with the amp. Note that there's a noticeable scratch on the left side that is shown in the third picture. Pictures:
  23. Item: Burson Audio Timekeeper Power Amp Location: Melbourne Eastern-ish suburbs (Balwyn) Price: SOLD Item Condition: Immaculate as new Reason for selling: Surplus to my needs Payment Method: Pickup - Cash if picking up, DD if posting Extra Info: New price $2860. This was purchased from Addicted to Audio on 07/02/14. Is it in as new immaculate condition. This is a fantastically transparent highly regarded power amp with a small footprint making it very versatile in application. It sits happily on a pc desk or would be equally at home in a lounge room setup. 80wpc stereo, 240w mono. Very regretful sale but my wedding is heading over budget, something has to give and my loss is your gain. All original packaging still available. Will sell as a package deal with my Immaculate <3 month old B&W 685's for a package deal price of $2500 and will throw in a 3m pair of Chord Silver Screen speaker cables. That's less than the cost of the Timekeeper alone! Pictures:
  24. Hi All, Here's a few bits and pieces that have fallen through the cracks whilst setting up my hifi in a new house. All prices are exclusive of postage/packing. Item: LITE DAC-60 Price: $200 Sold. Item: Audio-gd NFB-2 Price: $200 Sold Item: Burson AB-160 Buffer Price: $250 Sold
  25. Item: SOLD Burson Soloist SL Solid State Headphone Amplifier and MrSpeakers Mad Dog 3.2 Planar Magnetic Headphones (Professional T50RP Mod) with Alpha Pads Location: Glen Waverley or Richmond, Victoria Price: Mad Dog 3.2: $200 (RRP: $399), Burson Soloist SL: $450 (RRP: $650), Combined: $600 (RRP: $1049) Item Condition: Very Good Reason for selling: Upgraded to T1 and TH900. Need to recoup cash. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: An amazing combination and one of the best mid-fi setups ever. This is a quote of how I described them to other Head-Fi members. Having owned the HD580 (upgraded to HD600 grill and ZY Cable) and Philips X1, tried the Beyers DT770 and DT990... I can say that the Mad Dog 3.2 is THE best mid-fi headphone I've ever heard by a considerable margin. I found a good synergy with the Burson Soloist SL amp allowing for treble sparkle AND a sufficiently good bass hit. Drums in particular sounded like drums and not some synthesized bass hit. Everything else sounded great too but the drums was a standout for me. Pictures: Coming soon.
