  1. In the interest of all sporting tragics here I think there is a minor call to arms at the moment if you glance through the fora. There needs to be some balance(not Gary btw) and perspective displayed. Magical moments in sport are many and they are varied and it is indeed a case of each to their own when it comes to fantastically phantasmagorical moments in the sport you like...well it's down to you to apprise us of your magical moment/memory/experience. I'm a Cricket tragic, have been since I saw 'Lord' Ted Dexter at the MCG as a tiny bloke sitting on my uncles knee in 62/63 season and overheard him say a naughty word(as I later learned from my Nan ) about the Pom's Capt' Ted Dexter as he went about batting in first+second innings. From that point a life time of listening/watching and playing cricket has been a source of enjoyment for me, it's my overriding passion as far as 'Sports' go, but I also was in the crowd at the MCG when Darrel Baldock,Mr Magic, led St.Kilda to their first premiership and my uncle lifted me up to watch Barry Breen kick 'that' goal and knock over the hated Collingwood. Move on into to my move to NSW in the late 70's early 80's and Parramatta and Ray Price just did it for me. I was gobsmacked at the hits and the blues! Wow these guys actually punched blokes and knocked 'em out...the only bloke I'd seen do that before was 'Big Carl' Carl Dietrich in front of play from St Kilda and also the dirtiest player I ever watched in VFL, Big Bad John Nicholls from the hated Carlton in back play. Then I strayed over to the game they play in heaven and I watched the Wallabies in 84 complete the 'Grand Slam' and the sainted Mark Ella...I was a convert. Two world cups later and I pondered the sublime skills of the man they named 'Nobody', John Eales as in "Nobody's perfect"...the big man was the epitome of fairness and the so called 'Australian' sense of a fair go and never give in. I still watch endless replays of that All Black Test. Kieran Perkins, Olympics,Fat Arse the Wombat,Roy+HG,Peter Thompson,The Hockeyroos,'Rabbit Bartholomew,Peter Townend,Ian Cairns, and then we can move to sports from overseas and the FA Cup and the absolute dynamic of Baseball and on and on it goes. I can sit/lay/straddle/grip/bash/jump up+down on my couch come whatever sporting event I'm watching. Cricket lends itself to contemplation and reading and listening. What are your sporting memories, your high points your low points(Wallaby losses for me and the 71 Grand Final against the hated Hawthorn!)
