  1. Further information: I am moving on my McChanson TimeE 300B amp as I just don't use it enough. It has a range of NOS 6EM7 valves included (‘Samsung’ + NOS Sylvania) and a matched pair of Genalex PX-300B with less than 50 hours' use. Currently I am using 6FD7 valves, with adaptors, as signal valves. Construction: professional point to point soldering; a 2-stage single input & driver stage using a 6EM7, then follows the power stage of 300B (SET), with adjustable fixed bias. One 5V4GA rectifier (could use GZ32). No negative feedback, 4 sets of inputs, two outputs - 4 & 8 ohm standard. The inputs on the amp are mis-labelled (front dial compared with back inputs) but apparently this is 'not uncommon'…I have re-labelled them on the side of the amp. FRONT CD-VCD DVD AUX TUNER BACK TUNER AUX DVD CD/VCD There is minor surface corrosion of the case screws. Eric re-soldered a speaker terminal for me late last year; otherwise it has never played up in the several years I have owned it. The amp works wonderfully well, especially if you like lush tonality and timbre of vocals and chamber jazz and classical. A fabulous combination with a good DAC. The Genalex PX-300B comes highly recommended on the SNA Forum—I have to agree. Eric makes great gear, and this is a solid, reliable performer. The 8-9W output is quite sufficient for sensitive speakers. I love the musical sound of this amp; it has a beautiful mid-range, full of 300B goodness, and is dead quiet. The McChanson Users group on SNA will tell you a lot more generally. I have detailed pictorial instructions from Eric on biasing, which I have done a few times a year. Straightforward. Eric M to me: “Yes, the bias adjustment is the same as your VTL 6550 OK. See picture (that is a T150 amp), we can use the black speaker out as ground, the Test Point is near the power tube. There is no issue if you use Black or Red probes for a digital multimeter; red probe plugs into DC port on multimeter. Set the meter to DCV 200mV. With the amp ON, tune the trim pot as needed to get a reading on the meter, for 300B, say 50mV to 55mV is good. Actually you can check and adjust anytime you may wish.... This bias varies with the AC main voltages, but keep them on average about 50mV will be good.” I have no box so pickup is preferred. 2. Virtually new BoyuuRange REISONG A50 MKIII 300B HiFi Intergrated Tube Amplifier Single-end Class A Valve Amp with Tube Cage. Upgraded Tubes: PSVANE 300B LinLai 6SN7 matched pair Includes 5Z3PA Ready for Skunkie Mods, if you want to further upgrade. Used for less that two weeks. Great sound as introduction to 300B amp sound. Lots of reviews online If you’re keen on soldering and mods there’s some fun to be had:
  3. Reason for selling: No longer using. Price: $1000, $850 (New price – $1400 for amp and $300 for tubes), given a full checkup and clean bill of health by Eric himself prior to putting up on SNA Location: Ingleburn, NSW Payment method: Everything Info: This was my first foray into 300B tube sound for speakers. Has not been getting much use recently and has been sitting idle. The tubes alone would cost around 300-400 as per Eric (Guiguang black bottles) on my most recent dealing with him for a checkup before putting it up for sale. Tubes have had a lowish life. I can recommend this as a very good entry level tube amp. It has a non bloated sound with good resolution and the typical 300B beautiful mid-range. I upgraded to another 300B tube amp after listening to this. Would prefer Sydney. Will be happy to deliver. Also willing to offer a bunch of photography light mods including Gary Fong (Complete set) [worth $200] and flash extender for free if the buyer wants them. This really improved my photography.
  4. Hi All I was wondering if passive bi amp is going to help this situation. My current amp is audio space reference 3.1 300b producing 21w rms. Still looking for a set of speaker at the moment to replace the focal chorus 705 but with the current offers out there will I be benefit and widen my speaker choices from passive bi amping? Reason for this been I came across a pair of audio space 300b mono block which is also 21w rms at a very good price. Cheers Jimmy
