  1. Further Information: Spendor D7.2 Speakers in beautiful Walnut finish. Purchased in late October 2021, replacing PMC Twenty5.23's and providing significant performance gains. No scuffs, scratches, chips or blemishes. Barely noticeable gradation of veneer coloration on front baffles (only) due to having grilles fitted and ambient UV. Never exposed to direct sunlight. Have been assured by the dealer/distributor that removing the grilles will quickly fix this (they naturally darken in colour). These speakers present as perfect with grilles fitted. Lightly used (150hrs max.) and never driven hard. Very amp-friendly at 90dB sensitivity and 8 ohms, lending themselves nicely to tube and class A amplifiers. Have all original packing and boxes, so can be shipped but would much prefer a local sale and pickup. The Spendor D7.2 consistently receive rave reviews: https://www.hifichoice.com/content/spendor-d72 https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/spendor-d72 Specifications can be found here: https://spendoraudio.com/wp-content/uploads/Spendor-D-Line-Product-Data-Sheets_D7.2_2023.pdf Please note: IsoAcoustics Gaia III and/or Stainless Outriggers are not included in this sale. Standard floor spikes (as pictured) will be supplied. Price is firm and represents a massive saving over new price.
  2. Spendor LE3/1 speakers Descendent of current Classic 3/1 speakers which are very expensive indeed comparatively! Refer here: https://spendoraudio.com/wp-content/uploads/Spendor-Product-Overview-Brochure_JUL_2023.pdf These are working great. the timber enclosures look great but they have some surface scratches which I have tried to show in the images. The stands are metal and solid. I’m trying some new speakers but I’m not sure it’s an upgrade yet. Hesitant saw but no room for spare speakers. Would prefer pickup but might be able to post or courier.
  3. Further information: Speakers are approximately 14 months old and are in pristine condition. They have around 400 hours of use, and sound magnificent. A once in lifetime purchase. The D9.2 not only looks good but sounds even better... these speakers are a true 3-way design that will represent the music as the musicians and producers intended it to be heard...come in for a demo and hear the Spendor D9. The new Spendor D9.2 is an elegant, modern, full‐size, 3 way, 4 driver, floor‐standing loudspeaker. The D9 delivers music with exceptional resolution and a vibrant realism that conventional loudspeakers cannot match. It delivers low frequencies with breath‐taking power, scale and authority. It has a beautiful coherence and transparency across the entire sound spectrum. It is easy to place in a multiplicity of rooms, easy to drive, very efficient, plays any kind of music and, if you have the inclination, it will play very loud without compression. With its tall slim enclosure and smart modern finishes D9 is entirely at home in any modern living environment. It will do full justice to the finest ancillary equipment. Spendor D9.2 Floorstanding Speakers Features: *Spendor LPZ (Linear Pressure Zone) tweeter* The goal of every tweeter designer is to achieve linear acoustic output over a wide frequency range. In practice this is extremely difficult. Spendor’s approach to this age‐old challenge is radical, and it works. The Spendor LPZ tweeter is built around a stainless steel front plate which forms a damped acoustic chamber directly in front of a lightweight woven polyamide diaphragm. The front plate incorporates a phase correcting micro foil to equalise sound wave path lengths across the diaphragm surface, simultaneously it generates a symmetrical pressure environment on both faces of the tweeter diaphragm so the tweeter operates in a balanced linear mode. The front plate also provides excellent mechanical protection for the delicate tweeter dome and a smart modern appearance. Imagine focusing an ultra‐high quality camera lens until you see a clear bright image. That’s the effect of Spendor LPZ technology. Our sequential geometry micro‐foil operates like an acoustic lens. The result is perfect focus, uninhibited sound transmission and a very wide listening window. Sound images are vivid, in‐the‐air, as bright or sweet as any music demands. *Spendor 18cm drive units developed for D9* The D9.2 mid‐bass drive unit has an advanced EP77 polymer cone mid‐range drive unit. Housed in an isolated enclosure at the top of the cabinet, it handles only mid‐range frequencies which eliminates mid‐low frequency inter-modulation. It delivers music with superb clarity and vanishingly low colouration. The two D9 low frequency drivers have ultra‐rigid, two part bonded, lightweight Kevlar composite cone assemblies. The drivers are in a large dedicated low‐frequency acoustic enclosure. Like Spendor’s highly regarded A9 loudspeaker (now superseded by D9) the D9 delivers accurate powerful bass without distortion or compression. All three drivers feature cast magnesium alloy chassis, high efficiency motor systems, optimised electro‐dynamic damping, and excellent thermal dissipation for wide dynamic range. New polymer surrounds with very stable molecular composition reduce driver ‘break‐in’ time significantly. *5G (Fifth generation) Spendor Linear flow port* When extended low frequency sound reproduction is the goal there is simply no substitute for volume. In the D9 low frequencies are handled by two specially designed bass drivers in a substantial volume enclosure. For optimum low frequency response and power handling the enclosure is ported, but not like a conventional loudspeaker. The D9 incorporates our latest 5G Spendor Linear flow port technology. Inspired by Formula 1 diffuser technology, it offers significant advantages over any conventional port or transmission line loading. An aerodynamically profiled central baffle, like an aircraft wing, creates a tapered twin‐venturi port. Air at the port extremities is smoothly decelerated and there is a further reduction in air velocity in the large tapered area at the cabinet base. The result is evenly balanced acoustic pressure and air‐flow along the whole length of the port. Rapidly decreasing air velocity at the port extremities creates an air‐curtain effect to eliminate port noise and spurious mid‐band radiation. A carefully optimised combination of bass driver electrical and mechanical parameters, enclosure volume, air flow and wide‐band (very low‐Q, very low phase shift) port tuning allows the D9 to deliver deep, fast, articulate bass in a way no conventional loudspeaker can challenge. *Unconstrained internal airflow* Conventional loudspeakers incorporate foam or fibre to provide low frequency acoustic damping. The damping material stores energy. As stored energy is released it is no longer in‐time with the music and it creates an unnaturally, heavy , slow sound. Inside the D9.2, the sound path, from the bass drivers to the listening room is unrestricted, there is no low frequency damping. As a result the Spendor D9 is entirely free from damping material energy storage effects, the advantage is clearly audible, music sounds naturally fast, agile and coherent. *Spendor dynamic cabinet damping* Timing is fundamental to the musical experience. In conventional loudspeakers rigid high density cabinet panels are mass‐damped to reduce cabinet‐talk. Spurious energy is stored and released slowly. This introduces unacceptable blurring and slowing of the sound. Spendor’s solution is asymmetric aperture bracing of the cabinet to disperse internal waves. Dynamic Damping with small low mass constrained polymer dampers at key energy interface points instantly convert any spurious energy in the cabinet structure into inaudible heat. The result is a silent rigid cabinet and a naturally fast clear sound. *Stabiliser Inserts* The base of the cabinet has four leveling feet attached via forged steel inserts to hold the cabinet rock steady. The elimination of micro‐vibration allows fine musical detail to be reproduced with delicate precision. *Crossover network* A meticulously refined crossover network with precision wound inductors and high‐linearity plastic film capacitors integrates the drivers seamlessly in a minimum phase alignment. Each crossover component and every complete pair of Spendor loudspeakers is calibrated and matched to stringent broadcast reference standards.. *High efficiency* 90dB efficiency and an easy to drive 8 ohm load ensure complete compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers and cables. With substantial power handling the D9.2’s can play very loud without sounding compressed. At low replay levels the sound is always clear and balanced. *Elegant modern design* The Spendor D9 looks as good as it sounds. Our premium finishes perfectly complement today’s on trend interiors. Spendor Dark, a diamond polished gloss lacquer over a dark natural veneer, for an alluring modern look. Satin white, a silky pure white lacquer, for a distinctive contemporary look. Dark ebony for a deep luxurious look, and natural rosewood for a timeless exotic look. Standard finishes are light oak, dark walnut, cherry and black ash. The plinth is finished in satin black lacquer. 4. Hi gents Sad news in one way, but great news for us. Andrew from AudioFix has a new range of speakers ( Falcon Acoustics) which has been announced in the news section here just yesterday Bad news is that after many years he is no longer the Australian agent for Spendor Speakers ( another agent has been appointed apparently ). The good news part is that he has Spendor speakers ( new and Demo ) that he will be letting go at bargin basement prices. Andrew is a gentleman to deal with. So if your in the market, now is your chance to snap up a bargin
  5. I heard the Spendor SP2/3R2 for the first time today, wow! This speaker is by far the best Spendor I've heard so far. It's on par with the D7 in both bass and mid range, but is more relaxed in both. The treble however is miles better than the D7. It's more refined and super smooth, and beats it with driver integration too. Before hearing it I thought the SA1 had the best treble and integration, the A5 and D7 the most bass weight, the D7 the biggest sound with the best dynamics, and the SP3/1R2 the best mid range tone. Each of those had weaknesses as well: the SA1 had no audible bass; the A5 was bloated in the bass and had a gap between the upper mid and treble causing a treble spike; the SP3/1R2 had the same issue, but much worse; and the D7 although having it as well, was better, but unfortunately was way too bright in the treble. The SP2/3R2 takes all those best qualities and adds its own character, it is superb. To me the bass sounds just as deep as the D7; has the same impact as the A5 but is less bloated and more even. It was the same integration and treble as the SA1, but even slightly softer. It has the same mid tone as the SP3/1R2, but even more relaxed, yet also much more dynamic. It has the same treble detail as the D7, but does it without being bright, but rather has a very smooth and refined character. What's more is that generous bass doesn't seem to affect the mid range at all, similar to how a 3 way sounds. The D7's bass sounds a bit faster, but the SP2/3R2's bass sounds more natural.

  10. Further information: These are typical Spendor speakers, renowned for their sweet and musical reproduction as well as oustanding build quality, being designed and hand-built in the UK. The elegantly shaped floor-standing enclosures are constructed of heavily braced and damped panels and finished in real oak veneer, reducing unwanted vibrations and box colouration. The "S" series introduced several other innovations including "linear flow port technology" to reduce low frequency turbulence, the "e" bass/mid driver with light but stiff damped polymer cone for ultra low colouration and an even more seamless crossover. This is a factory-matched pair of speakers with original cartons for safe transport. They offer a nice step up from Spendor standmounts in terms of increased bass extension and improved aesthetics (IMO). Price is firm as they are already great value. A good match for the Leema Pulse III amp also advertised. Donation to SNA on sale. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  13. Further information: Due to a combination of COVID boredom, FOMO and attempts to get my new listening space (aka hifi hell) to sound decent I have found myself with an excessive amount of gear and need to make some space. I'm also taking a huge swerve across to single full range drivers and SET amps. As a poor decision maker I'm not able to decide what goes so I am leaving it to the market to decide for me! For sale is a pair of Spendor SP1 speakers, classic three way design built on the Spendor BC1 which is rightfully regarded as a classic. Personally the SP1 and Rogers Export Monitors are even better than the BC1. But don't just take my word for it, listen to Dr John! https://cheaptubeaudio.blogspot.com/2008/07/overview-spendor-loudspeakers.html. Like the BC1 the SP1 are all about musicality. Forget about dissecting the music, just get into it. I have run these with SS and tube power (PP and SET) and in all cases it sounded wonderful. The benign impedance loads make it a easy speaker for tubes even if sensitivity is only reasonable. Drivers are perfectly operating, cabinets are in pretty god condition overall but a bit of oil would make them really come up a treat. I have tried to capture the significant defects in my photos. Serial numbers are sequential and they are a matched pair with the mirrored offset porting. Stands are included. Local buyers welcome to audition but any interstate would need to be a pack n send job, too big for me. Buy yourself a classic! Photos:

As a poor decision maker I'm not able to decide what goes so I am leaving it to the market to decide for me! For sale is a pair of Spendor SA1 mini monitors. The sound is classic Spendor, lush and inviting. They are pretty similar to an LS3/5A and some folks think they are better. I bought these from a lovely couple who were the original owners, purchased from Albert's Stereo and used for the wives classical music listening in the study. One lady owner, never driven hard or in the rain . These work well in a small space but can also fill a larger one pretty well. Cabinets have some marks but overall pretty good. Even comes with the original manual in its plastic sleeve. Happy to demo for locals or pack for interstate courier. Photos:

  22. Item: Spendor SP1/2 Loudspeakers - Rosewood Location: Melbourne Price: $1700 $1500 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Keeping the Harbeth SHL5s Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, EFT Extra Info: The woofers have been upgraded to the latest versions and were made to order by Spendor. The latest version has a phase plug instead of a dust cap and a larger magnet and is a factory approved upgrade. They were replaced because the original woofer surrounds stiffened considerably, reducing the bass output and skewing the tonal balance. The cost of this upgrade was over $800 through the Australian distributor Audiofix. The new woofers have less than 50 hours on them - not even broken in. The condition of the Rosewood finish is remarkably good given that the speakers are over 20 years old. There are no scratches, only a few edge dings (pictured) and a couple of shiny spots on the finish that don't show up on the photos. I see that I missed photographing one side of one cabinet. I can pull it out and photograph that if desired. The grilles are in good shape with no holes that I have noticed. The speakers are all original other than the woofers. No mods. There is no reason the speakers should not last another 20 years as the woofers are new. The primary failure mode is a dragging woofer voice coil due to sagging of the cone suspension. The Spendor SP1/2s don't give a lot away to the Harbeth SHL5, some bass fullness and extension (the Spendors will work better in smaller rooms), and a bit of precision and harmonic richness. On the other hand the SP1/2s have a more seductive quality in the upper mids, where the SHL5s can sound somewhat recessed. Read the reviews. Here is a good one: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0302/spendor12.htm I can include the original woofers (pictured sitting in the replacement boxes) if desired. The surrounds can be rejuvenated using a treatment of brake fluid, apparently. I was never game to try. Details can be found on the Spendor Yahoo Group. Also included, if desired, are serviceable steel stands. They are a bit on the short side, but I used them for years. Shipping will be difficult as they are surprisingly heavy and I don't have boxes. Pick up is best, but PM me to discuss options. Happy to answer questions. Please send me a PM. Edit: I have the original biwire jumpers and the owners manual somewhere. Remind me to find them if you are a prospective buyer. Pictures:
