1. Further Information: Here is a beautiful vintage Japanese turntable. It is warm and smooth with great musicality and dynamics. Just serviced with new belt fitted and the stylus has plenty of life left. Includes original manual, cartridge, dust wand, stylus protector and original box for stylus. I had a couple of turntables prior to this, and it was this turntable that reignited my love of vinyl and showed me what the medium is capable of. I’ve since paid a lot more for other turntables, however the SR-2050C still compares very favorably and is a pleasure to listen to. It is in very good condition considering its age with just minor superficial marks in the dust cover. There is minor chip to the inside front plinth that is generally not seen unless looking down from above. See the pic. Otherwise you will see that it presents well. See info from Vinyl Engine below. Description The Sansui SR-2050C is a striking model strictly for the purist looking for the simplicity and accuracy of a manual turntable with the basic convenience of an automatic. Incorporating two of Sansui's latest engineering breakthroughs - auto lift/stop mechanisms - the SR2050C substantially adds to the convenience of the manual turntable without sacrificing any of it's accuracy. Like most automatics, the tonearm automatically lifts from the final groove of the record in play. But unlike conventional automatics which take advantage of increasing end-of-play tonearm speed to trigger the lifting device, the auto-lift mechanism is entirely electrical and is set in motion by a special detector circuit which activates a relay/solenoid control system. Specifications Type: 2-speed, belt-driven turntable with auto-lifter and auto-stop Platter: 301mm, 1.2kg, die-cast aluminium alloy Motor: 4-pole synchronous Speeds: 33 and 45rpm Signal to noise ratio: better than 40dB Wow and flutter: less than 0.07% Tonearm: static balance, tubular, inside force canceller, lateral balancer, direct readout stylus pressure scale Arm length: 220mm Overhang: 15mm Cartridge: induced magnet type Frequency response: 20-20,000Hz Output: 5mV Stylus pressure: 2g Stylus: 0.5mil diamond Dimensions: 190 x 442 x 352mm Weight: 11.8kg
2. Further Information: Sansui AU-101 Stereo Amplifier, It is one of the best entry Stereo Amplifier from the 1970s made in Japan, that's you can buy with the reasonable affordable price, It had been recap few years ago. (I am unsure what are parts unfortunately because they were recommend by someone I have no longer to contact) As the photos show it's in excellent condition for the age of this vintage AMP. Paradigm Atom Monitor S 7 will be include with this AMP, everything are in working. I am using the Au-555a, so This set-up is collect dust. That's why I want to sell as for someoneelse would use. Selling as whole lots. At the moment I can only do PickUp.
3. Up for sale is my little 18kg dream unit. I'm off to the studio to record some new music, a bit early (e.g. before I've saved up for it) as it helps out some musician mates that have hardly worked their craft in 18 months. But wages for a week for 3 other muso's plus studio costs, well that stings the wallet. I love this amp and would prefer to keep it, but I'll get along with an amp of lesser stature for a while, there will eventually be another Sansui Alpha to replace it, these are great amps Note: these were only sold in Japan, so it requires a step down transformer. I have a new isolated 500 Watt transformer on it's way from Tortech for something else (that will also be sold), you can grab that from me at cost if you want the convenience, or source your own. I could probably have hidden the blemishes, I'm a bit wary of cleaning fluids damaging the printing on it, a silver pen could hide the scratches or the lighter ones could be polished out of the aluminium but you get an honest view of it's condition. 5 minutes on your behalf and you should have it looking pretty sweet. I've highlighted scuffs/scratches in the photos, except on the front face, there are some very light scratches that aren't showing up in the photo - I'm letting you know that they are there. Maybe some different lighting might pick them up - I'll add an alternate picture later if I can capture them. 6. Hey all. So I recently acquired a set of old Sansui speakers. After a bit of googling it appears they might be an ok set. I hooked them up and found 1 speaker sounds different to the other. The midrange is definitely blown and puts out no sound at all. Even when I connect the amp directly to that speaker. So I'm wondering if it's worth repairing these? I know parts will be hard to find. From what I can tell from the parts manual the components are idental between the SP-X7700 and the SP-7300. Tell me your thoughts. I found one of these mid range speakers for sale on ebay USA but they want aud$70 plus post.

8. Item: SANSUI SR-838 DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE Location: Brisbane Price: $950 Item Condition: Good for age Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal + 2.6%, EFT Extra Info: Rarel opportunity to acquire a 1976 vintage Sansui Turntable that was near or top of line in the golden HiFi era, features Direct Drive platter rotation, Quartz lock (dead accurate), heavy aluminium platter, pitch control and strobe. Has undergone a cable upgrade with Aurealis - Van Damme Silver plated RCA leads. Finished in piano black gloss, it presents well with some light scuffs to the main body and clear acrylic lid, which is in overall good condition for its age. Operationally it is fine, sometimes it hunts for target speed for a few seconds on start up, but once locked in doesn't move. Nice gentle cueing, which is careful on both vinyl and stylus. Visually - it's quite stunning! Soft copies of manual (owner's and service) available. The below pictures are of the actual unit for sale taken a few months ago, however the headshell shown is not included (previously sold) It comes with the original Sansui silver headshell (Sans cartridge). The heatshrink on the tonearm as photographed has also since been removed. It's rather large and heavy, so the preference is for it to be re-homed locally following pre-inspection, but I'm open to shipping it, just may take some additional time. Thanks for looking! 9. Well ladies and gents Terry has finalized the dates for the Queensland leg of what I hope will be a country wide phenomenon. The Qld all Sansui GTG will occur at Terry's place on the weekend on the 18th and 19th of May. Plan on a late morning arrival for a midday start with a finish somewhere between 6pm and late. So, I'm in, who else is keen?
10. Goodaye all Had a huge disaster just before Christmas with my Sansui AU505. A very heavy speaker fell on it while l was replacing the cables, sparks, smoke, huge dent in the lid, twisted chassis very sad. Had been heaverly modified by the previous owner and myself and the sound was magnificent. Found a another AU505 but the volume pot is toast. Its a ALPS 250k dual with loudness tabs, not sure if its linear or logrythmic. Does anybody know where l could get something to replace it? Or more information? Once l get it going l plan on restoring and modifing exactley the same as my old unit. l am looking out for a second AU505 as l seem to now have two matching TU505 tuners sitting here. Those old TDL's are heavy and solid, didnt mark the speaker. Happy New year to all. regards Bruce

12. Hi guys, I've got an old Sansui AU5900 thats in lovely condition except the relay has died on me i.e. no 'click' when you turn the amp on. Manually toggling the relay (with a hell of a lot of insulation) results in glorious glorious sound so I'm planning to unsolder and replace it. I'm not sure where to find a replacement though. The relay is marked as an Omron Type MY02 and also has -0-Y23 printed on it's plastic cover. Since google has been of very limited assistance, can anyone point me in the direction of a replacement? Cheers, Tim

16. Further Information:Price Drop I have had this amplifier for over 5 years now, I got it recapped earlier this year (I did have some initial issues with the repair which I started a thread on here titled Sansui Au555 noisy inputs). I have been using it to power my KLH model 5s and was very happy with the sound this unit managed to get out of them. Unfortunately it is not the quietest amplifier and sometimes a faint hiss can be heard if you are close to the speakers. This is particularly noticeable on the phono 2 and phono 1 inputs, I ended up using an external phono-stage (IFI zen phono) and was impressed by the performance the sansui and IFI offered. The power cord which I have not changed since obtaining the amplifier has always slightly bugged me, if you look at the pictures you can probably see why. Unfortunately I will not offer demo in my home, however I may be able to demo at my work in Fitzroy. I regrettably threw out the receipt for the recap so I don’t have a list of what work was done unfortunately.
17. I posted a while back about a sansui au555 I had that got recapped and found it to be still a bit noisey (faint hiss). This is a follow up to that post, basically I was using it to drive my KLH model 5s and it sounded pretty good with those speakers and even better when I upgraded to an external phono stage (IFI zen phono). However the faint hiss began to bug me because my other integrated amp (Rega Brio) was silent. I switched back to that amplifier but used the external phono; I was surprised because with the internal phono it sounded a bit flat and the soundstage was a lot smaller compared to the Sansui, this completely change with the IFI zen phono. I ended up taking the sansui to a friends and we hooked it up to his vintage JBL’s (I think L40) I was surprised by the result, the hiss wasn’t audible unless you put your ear a few centimetres away from the speaker. It was fun to listen to and he ended up buying it off me, it was a win for both of us as his amp was not working well with his speakers at all.
18. I recently took my Sansui AU-555 in for a service because I was hearing a hissing sound no matter which input was selected. It got recapped and sounded great when I got it back from the shop however the noise still persisted. After running some tests at home I noticed when switched to Tape Head it is noisiest and as you turn further down the dial (Phono 1, phono 2 etc) the sound is still present but quieter. I disconnected all sources and tested again same thing. Even when the volume is turned all the way down to 0 the sound is there, it gets louder as you turn it up though. I returned the unit to the tech explaining all the above however they advised they can’t hear it at all. I noticed when the amp was returned it was set to Aux 2 which was the least noisy channel, so I suspect they never tried the other channels but even on Aux 2 it is still noisy to my ears. I have ran it through different PowerPoints in different parts of the house to try eliminate the possibility of a ground loop, even disconnecting all appliances except the amplifier obviously. I’ve tested with two different sets of speakers and also a pair of headphones to no avail. I most likely won’t return it to the tech as if they can’t hear it I doubt they could fix the issue. I have asked to a few other people to listen as well to verify I’m not honing in on something that no one else can hear. I mainly use Phono 1 with a Rega RP6 fitted with an Exact cartridge. My speakers are the new KLH model 5. I also have a Rega Brio-R which runs without any noise so again makes me think it isn’t a ground loop. So if anyone has any advice and/or recommendations for amp repair in northern suburbs of Melbourne it would be greatly appreciated.
19. Howdy all, I am presently planning a new system build which will probably take a while to take shape into a finalised list and most likely longer again to track down the components. On the amplification side of things I am leaning towards vintage however this isn't set in stone, the short list so far are the following control/power amp combinations: - Sansui BA-F1 and CA-F1 - Sansui BA-2000 and CA-2000 - Onkyo M-504 and C-304 I suppose the main reason for this post is to find out a couple of things from the experience of others on the forum. What sort of price range should I be expecting, how difficult are they going to be to track down at the right price, and are there other considerations I should have on my list? Also is there anything specific I should look out for/avoid with the above models? In addition I suppose the question that I possibly don't want to know the answer to is would I be better off spending the money on newer equipment instead? Given the time frame is not set in stone, the budget is also relatively flexible I have set aside a hifi fund that will serve only for that purpose so if something is a jump pricewise on these I would still consider it if it means I have to wait a little longer to purchase. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Tex Edit: Wasn't sure weather to post there here or Beginner Advice, please feel free to move it if it is more appropriate there.
20. Hey all, Long time lurker, firs time poster! I think I'm in the right area for this one... I've recently inherited an old Sansui Au 2900 from a mate... play my vinyls on it through phono - works a treat! BUT... try and play my CDs in the AUX, Tape, Tuner inputs - and only 1 channel works... what gives? I'm thinking I'll need to tinker and replace caps/trans? If anyone has ever heard of this before please let me know asap! I should add that it appears to be the left channel only - amazingly it sounds great, but nothing form the other side... Also should add that my "cd player" is actually my old Pioneer CLD 1850 Laserdisc player, I thought it might just be the outputs there, but I tried RCA and SCART out with same results. The optical out works fine on my Onkyo amp btw from the same player... Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Cheers!

22. I meant to put up a thread about this a while back but never quite seemed to get around to it. However, no time like the present. If you would be interested in an all Sansui GTG then let all the rest of us Sansui fans know here. If we get enough interest from the community then we can try to get ourselves organized. Anyone who knows of an appropriate venue (or even can volunteer a venue of theirs) is heartily encouraged to speak up. I'd love for us to have some sort of state by state GTGs but let's see how things pan out shall we. I'm happy to book holidays and bring along my 907NRA to any event we can work out, so that's one person and one amp lined up. Anyone else?
23. Goodaye all Well after looseing a Volume pot in the post my only option is to build a stepped attenuator to control the volume. Its to be used in a Sansui AU717 is 4 pole with 2 at 150K and 2 at 5k and loudness tab. Found nothing around those values so am building it from scratch. This is the switch l have chosen, will just fit. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4pole-24-Step-Rotary-Switch-Attenuator-Volume-Control-DIY-Potentiometer-Small/252389496479?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 So l will use 1% resisters but what type? Will 0.25w be suitable? l need a calculater for resistor values. Any body got any details or tips on building these? Once upon a time l would think nothing of sitting there doing calculations for this, must be getting old. And l still have to restore the rest of this amp. Will do pics of the progress. regards Bruce
