  1. Here we have a Rega Planar 3, the first turntable I ever owned, bought from new in the UK back in 1980-ish. It did great service for me for many years but has been boxed up for quite some time, and upon opening, I can see that it needs some attention. If I was half handy with a screwdriver I would see to it myself, but as I now have a perfectly good Rega P5 I don't feel the urge. Anyway, the TT is an "original" Rega Planar 3, serial number 137274. It has a Rega R200 arm and R100 cartridge, again both originals. Everything is about 33-34 years old. It still has a British power plug on it, and original cabling etc. for that authentic look! Without wishing to promote it too enthusiastically, I would suggest that this TT could form the basis of a project to create a fine sounding turntable from some very good components. The good bits: The plinth, glass platter and felt mat are all in excellent condition. The tinted perspex lid is also fine, as are the working hinges, although there are some light scratches on the lid where I have cleaned it perhaps over-enthusiastically over the years. Still has original packaging (although bizarrely the serial numbers on the box don't match). The not-so-good bits: It needs a new drive belt, the existing one is stretched and brittle. The motor needs some lubricant. The R200 cueing lever does not work (i.e. the lever does not raise the arm to the full height and then the arm and lever slowly falls back down - I believe could be fixed by an expert hand and some silicone grease). I'm not sure about the anti-bias belt although the anti-bias mechanism still seems to be doing its job. So IMO for $50-$100 this could be made as "good as new". Obviously there are many more tweaks and upgrades possible for the enthusiast. The TT is located near Manly in Sydney, pickup is obviously preferred if only to avoid unnecessary Auspost charges. However, it does have good packaging so I will ship anywhere if necessary as long as the buyer pays for it Price: $250 or good offer out of which 10% will go to Stereonet. Reason for selling: surplus to requirements. Payment Methods: Paypal or Cash on pickup
  2. SOLD Rega P3-24 Turntable with TT-PSU. Approx 4 years old. Including Cork platter mat, Ortofon 2M Bronze Cartridge (with est. 300 - 400hours), Michael Lim double pulley (not attached) & centre weight, cork mat replacing the horrible felt rega mat. Location: VIC (Melbourne East) Price: SOLD Item Condition: Used, in Very Good Condition. Dust cover and deck have no scratches. The deck colour is a piano black finish Reason for selling: Upgraditis. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, EFT Extra Info: TT originally bought new in Sydney from HiFi trader aprox 4 years back. Included is the Michael Lim (http://lpturntables.blogspot.com.au), rubber feet, double pulley (never installed), and brass weight for sitting atop the records. The turntable platter is cork (I think it was Thorens) and has been on the turntable since new. Note: this version has the external PSU to turn on/off power and control the speed 33/45 with a touch of the button. No need to manually move the belt to play 45rpm. Note 2: The Groovetracer reference sub platter has been sold separately. hence the price drop. I have returned the original rega sub platter to the turntable Original box included, but do not want to ship, pickup or drop off only at this stage. Will donate $20 to stereonet, to keep this valuable service going.

  5. Item: REGA IOS MC Phono stage, mint condition with box, manual etc Location: SE Melbourne Price: $2,000 Item Condition: Mint, not being used Reason for selling: giving up the dream of a 2nd turntable rig... Payment Method: bank deposit or Pickup - Cash or can ship around australia at cost to buyer Extra Info: Have in original box and packaging with manual etc Pictures: see below, as can hopefully see this is in mint condition as would buy from the shop As some might know this is a very highly regarded MC phono stage. Its beautifully made and put together to the point that Rega decided to re box this item in another casing to elevate it to IOS Reference status ! as can see in the link below it now reboxed retails at $7,999! http://store.melbour...39/category/34/ Heres your chance to pick up one of these in mint condition for a fraction of what the model above costs in the shops ! Although I've had this boxed up and under the bed for the last year thinking of how could set up a 2nd turntable in my system, have finally resigned myself to the fact it aint happening and probably better sold and put to good use by someone else. you'll find a goo review of the Rega IOS here, http://www.rega-audi...dio_2008-07.pdf "Over the last few months, I’ve listened to perhaps a half dozen $1000 phono preamps, each one a winner in its own way. Just prior to that, however, I used a couple of phono stages in the $5000 to $7000 range. The Rega Ios easily belongs in the latter group. The build quality is astonishing (it’s certainly the heaviest phono preamp I’ve used), the flexibility world-class. The sound quality was perhaps the most addictive I’ve experienced in my system, and now I want that Ios as well. 7. Hello! With a BIG sigh, I have to let my beloved Rega P5 go. Graphic Design setups are NOT cheap. I'll return to spinning the black stuff sometime down the track. UK made and very well looked after, always covered, and in a smoke and pet free environment. This cost me close to $2600 just three years ago. It's had about 500-600 hours playing time I think. Not huge at all. The cart has been on the Rega the whole time, and has had one arm base spacer fitted to get the ideal VTA. Original box and receipt. * Rega P5, with Ortofon 2M Bronze cart and TT PSU * Kilsyth, Melbourne * Fantastic condition, used sparingly over three years * $1100, $1200 shipped interstate, anywhere in Australia. I WILL NOT separate the parts. It will ship in it's original box. $30 to StereoNet!!!!!! * Reason for selling Yep. Need the cash to buy a monitor! * Payment Methods: Cash or PayPal

  12. Now tax time is here I'm getting itchy fingers and would like to do something for my 2 channel setup. Trouble is, I don't know where my next gains will come from. This is all focused around vinyl listening. I currently have a Rega RP1 that I have done some modding to- 24v upgrade motor Rega TTPSU GT Acrylic platter GT Reference subplatter White upgrade belt 2M blue cartridge. This is running into my CA Azur 640p phono preamp and then into my Onkyo 807 receiver. Speakers are still my Paradigm Monitor 7's and Subsonic MK2 sub. I have had thoughts on if my next move would be moving up the TT chain and either look at a new deck or better cartridge but also thinking maybe I should look into an integrated amp. OR do I retire the Paradigms as they are around 9-10yrs old. Would love to hear some input as I've never really played with amps outside of HT receivers nor heard TT's above where mine is. Thanks!
  13. I'm a bit of a Rega fan (having 4 Rega products at home). So it was really interesting to read this Rega factory tour from HiFi+ here. In that article, there is a few images of various bits (power board, RB1010 tonearm) and of the actual upcoming RP10 turntable. There is also photos of a "Naiad" turntable that has a tiny tiny carbon fiber skeletal plinth, and very cool, structural (non-round) looking sub-platter. Rega looks to be really going on strong with some really interesting products in the pipeline.
  14. So I've pulled the trigger on a Rega RP6 and want to know if anyone has any suggestions on a good cart suitable for classic to modern rock and blues. I've been suggested a Garrott P77i for it which I'm sure will sound good, and there's obviously the Rega Exact 2 etc.....but not having the opportunity to trial these prior to buying I'd be very interested in hearing any and all opinions. Simplicity of setup isn't a huge factor as I will be having a pro do it for me for a small fee (I just want to listen to the music and not constantly tinker.....why I got the Rega). I know everything is subjective, but still interested to hear opinions. I'm looking for a MM. Am yet to grab a phono stage but will hopefully pick one up for around $500 to best compliment the cart.
  15. Hi all...... Been lurking for a while and thought I should sign up to join in on some of the chats. My vinyl journey so far has been relatively brief but here it is..... - parents had a secondhand store growing up and got into collecting records of classic rock from what I could scavenge from the shop - had various old school TTs from the age of probably 12/13 through to leaving home. Didn't know enough about it then to even care what types...lol - have had a rega planar 2 for the last 5/6 years with the grace 707 arm with a AT440LMa cart - playing through a basic sherwood stereo amp with built in phono stage Anyway, just about to throw a bit of cash my setup for a new deck, cart and phono stage. To be honest my setup has sounded good to my ears, though far from audiophile of course. And through the last 5 years or so I've had a few parties centred around the TT and its been handled by some people who probably weren't physically capable at the time if you catch my drift. I'm fairly sure the cart and/or stylus has seen better days. I listen to classic rock, blues, hard rock, progressive metal through to heavy metal and sometimes hip hop...lol. Basically over the years I've tried to glean some sort of satisfaction from any and all styles of music, often opening up my mind in the process. Anyway, I'm sure that's enough of a novel for now......hopefully chat you all soon.
  16. ITEM: Rega Apollo cd player, Purchased Dec.12 2012. Location: Sydney area, Annandale, NSW Price: $650 Item Condition: Excellent, like new Reason for selling: Too wide for my stereo cabinet! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash. Extra Info: I bought this for myself from Audio Connection in Leichardt just last December. I assumed it would fit in my cabinet but the folks at Rega made it too wide. It only came with a 3 month warranty which was just my method of getting the price down a bit. It still has a bit of warranty left as it was purchased on Dec. 12. I did hook it up and play it for maybe 2 weeks and everything works just fine. The power cord came as shown in the photo, like it was put in the container with some kind of glue on it or something. I don't know if it is supposed to come with another cord or not, maybe an optical cord? In any case what you see is what you get. I prefer to sell this to someone in the Sydney area. That way the purchaser can fully inspect the unit. if nobody around here wants It after 2 weeks I'll consider posting at buyers expense. Pictures:

  19. Item: Rega P3-24 Turntable + RB301 + TT PSU + Groovetracer Reference Subplatter + other nice mods... Location: Sydney Price: NO LONGER AVAILABLE Item Condition: 9 Perfect working conditions. Minor marks on tonearm screw slots, tonearm (where the tonearm rest) & turntable cover. Reason for selling: Upgrade Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: There is no need for introduction for P3-24, it is one of the best entry level turntables and sounds wonderful as it is. I bought the P3-24 from an Australian dealer in Melbourne, in standard matte black, in February 2011. I found this tread from Vinyl engine and decided to go on the journey with these wonderful guys to start learning about turntable. The journey has been so wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you have only heard a stock P3-24, you would never guessed it could produce music so good... The mods I have done to the P3-24 are all non-destructive. If you are new to turntable, and wants to learn about how each component can improve the sound of P3-24, the turntable can be reversed to it's factory stock mode easily. You can then change one component at a time to hear how the sound change, or, you can add a different mod to the turntable. There are a lot of mods available for P3-24, and this is what I love about Rega P3-24, it's simple, elegant and versatile. A big bonus here is, if you love to tweak, you don't have to wait in agony for all these mods to be shipped to you. So the turntable will include all the mods and all the original bits. The P3-24 with mods listed below: 1. Rega P3-24 in matte black + RB301 tonearm - $1100 2. Rega original TT PSU (bought second hand from a SNA member) - $150 3. Rega Tungsten Counterweight (120 Grams) - $152 4. ISOKINETIK ISOPLATTER Rega 25mm Acrylic Platter - $170 5. Groovetracer Reference Subplatter with Zirconia ball (US$250)- $237 6. Michael Lim's Double Pulley for Rega P3-24 - $42 7. Rega Turntable White Belt Upgrade x 2 (₤21 each) - $65 8. SRM Silent Base for Rega P3-24 - $197 Total $2113.00 * The prices listed above have been converted into AUD from GBP or USD and NOT including shipping fee. So the total including shipping fee is around $2400. * I have the original box for the TT and ISOPLATTER, unfortunately all the receipts were destroyed when my basement was flooded in Jan last year. * Will ship with register post within Australia. Price including shipping fee if asking price is met. Images:
  20. Hello everyone I'm not sure if I have posted this to the correct forum but I was chasing some information regarding the best set-up for an RP3 turntable that I received for my birthday. I understand the basic system layout is source (RP3) > preamp > power amp (or integrated) > speakers. Now, from what I have been reading here and elsewhere is that some components simple work better with others, so what I am after is any advice or tips regarding how to proceed with the system. My aim to get some USED gear as I can hopefully get higher quality for less and am aiming for a Valve system of some sort. Price range isn't at the level of the RP3 sadly so sub $1000 for the amp/preamp and speakers I know I have to really find myself as it will be the sound I enjoy Thank-you all for reading
  21. Item: Rega RB700 Turntable Tonearm Location: Sydney Price: NOW SOLD ELSEWHERE Item Condition: 9.5 Perfect working conditions. Minor marks on tonearm screw slots, tonearm (where the tonearm rest). Reason for selling: Not use. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Images: Extra info: Rega RB700 Tonearm The RB700 improves greatly on the previous model, the RB600. The aluminium tube has been specially coated in a unique finish and the entire bearing housing has been redesigned and is now manufactured to even higher tolerances. The tone arm tube itself (which is a one piece silicone/aluminium casting) is very rigid, while being low mass. The tone arm assembly is concentrated around precision, hardened stainless steel and miniature ball races of the highest quality. The bearings fit onto ground shafts and into the tone arm using interference fits. This means that no adhesive is required and therefore none of the associated (component - adhesive - component) losses in rigidity prevail. It is fitted to the plinth by a 3-point fixing which is CNC machined out of a single solid block of stainless steel. This provides the strongest most rigid base structure possible for the tone arm and causes less stress on the plinth and the RB700's bearing housing, and therefore the least possible resonance. The RB700 tone arm is designed to make cartridges work harder, maximising the cantilever acceleration and travel as much as possible with the utmost accuracy within the cartridge body thus providing new levels of information. The RB700 is used as standard equipment on the P5 and P7 turntables and will work with other manufacturers turntables The tonearm tube itself (which is a one piece silicone / aluminium casting) is very rigid, while being low mass. The tonearm assembly is concentrated around precision, hardened stainless steel, miniature ball races of the highest quality. The bearings fit on to ground shafts and into the tonearm using interference fits. This means that no adhesive is required and therefore none of the associated (component - adhesive - component) losses in rigidity prevail. The arm is fitted to the plinth by a three-point mounting which is CNC machined out of a single solid block of stainless steel. This provides the strongest most rigid base structure possible for the tonearm and causes less stress on the plinth and the RB700's bearing housing -- and therefore the least possible resonance. The job of a tonearm is to hold the cartridge body both accurately and rigidly. It must be in a position where the cantilever of the cartridge will reproduce all of the information in the groove of a record. To be able to do this, the friction levels of the bearings in the tonearm must be very low so that the cartridge will follow the spiral of a recording without affecting the signal. To achieve this result, the RB700 uses the highest quality bearings available, (ordinarily used in navigational gyroscopes), that are then graded both by hand and by aural examination. This ensures that Rega has the smoothest and quietest ball races. The precision stainless steel shaft onto which these bearings fit is ground to a tolerance of within 5 microns (one micron being 1/1000 of a millimetre). The bearings are then selected and fitted onto shafts by hand. This is a highly skilled and time-consuming process which results in the fit between the shaft, bearing, and one-piece arm tube being 'interference fitted' with zero tolerance. Technically correct levels of effective mass. High quality appropriate materials used throughout. Unique bearing assembly's offering high levels of rigidity (zero-play) combined with very low bearing friction Unique anti skate mechanism which provide ample power whilst introducing no bearing friction. Very high levels of stability whilst tracking the record resulting in market leading performance in dealing with record warps large or small. Bespoke manufactured wiring throughout offering ultimate performance. *Includes ISOkinetik rega 3 point VTA spacer kit 3mm. Will ship in it's original foam and wooden boxes with registered post within Australia.

  23. Item: ISOsub GT 2 S UPGRADE SUB PLATTER FOR REGA TURNTABLES Location: Sydney Price: $125 Item Condition: 9 Perfect working conditions. Minor marks. Reason for selling: No longer needed. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra info: I bought the ISOsub GT 2 S from here along with the ISOplatter when I first got my P3-24. I used it for about 3 months and upgraded to the Groovetracer Reference Subplatter. I found ISOsub GT 2 S is not as good as the Groovetracer in both performance and build, but it is cheaper and a lot better than the plastic one that comes with the stock P3-24. The subplatter comes with the ISOlube PLUS and ISOBear - Ruby Sapphire bearing upgrade for Rega Turntables. Images:
  24. Hello SNA members. I'm selling my beloved Rega Brio 3 amplifier and Sonus Faber Toy Monitors. (For Sale in another posting) This is a great combination, and have had much pleasure from it. Beautiful silky sound, but also, you can hear the midrange clearly and superb imaging. I'm selling these items as I only have a small room, and I need the available space for my graphic design setup, so I'm keeping my turntable and phono pre-amp and hooking up a headphone setup. This sale will fund it! I would love to keep this combo, But other needs come first! I've got all the original receipts. I've had the amp since early 2011 I will deliver for free to anyone in metropolitan Melbourne, Interstaters can pay, and organise there own shipping, I have all the original boxes, and it will be shipped in these. You bear all the responsibility for the condition of the goods when they arrive. I look after my equipment, and both items work faultlessly. * Item: Rega Brio 3 (bought in early 2011) * Location: Kilsyth South, Victoria * Condition: Immaculate, Used * Price and price conditions: $450 * Reason for selling Downsizing to a headphone setup * Payment Methods: Paypal, Direct Debit, Cash on pickup
  25. Item: Rega RS3 floorstanders in gloss piano black Location: Clayton, Melbourne Price: $950 pickup or buyer pays postage Item Condition: Mint Reason for selling: Funding other purchases Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Deposit Extra Info: I brought these over from the UK earlier this year as an ex-demo set. They're in fantastic condition (as new); the gloss black finish is impeccable. They sound very similar to the RS1 standmounters, but with more bass (duh). They do the Rega "musical" thing even better than the RS1's. The midrange is typical Rega smooth, and the treble is amazing - the new ZRR tweeter is the fastest, most energetic tweeter I've heard to date. I've been running these with my Rega DAC and Brio-R and they make a fantastic combination. These retail for $2K in Australia. I haven't ever seen any on the local used market, so here's your chance to grab a mint pair at less than half price (and already run in to boot). They'll come in the original boxes with the manual and floor spikes/pads. Pics:
