  1. Hi all been inactive for a while now. But I'm considering upgrading from my old NAD C555 deck which is essentially a re badged rp2. I had a budget in mind of $1500 turntable and cartridge. I'm leaning towards a planar 3 with an exact 2 cartridge. I thought I would put it out here and take advantage of the wealth of experience and other opinions. Other considerations have been a Thorens table in the same price range. Also I'll state that I have a NAD PP2 pre amplifier. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated thanks.

The images shown are just what im using at the moment, The shell, dustcover and everything are packed away. Pictures:
  3. Item: Michell Tecnoarm - based on the Rega RB250 Location: Brisbane Price: $695 Item Condition: Superb. Very little wear on the head shell from cartridge screws as shown in the photos. Reason for selling: Upgraded to Audio-Origami Uniarm Payment Method: Pickup in Brisbane is available and cash accepted on pick-up. Will ship express for $10. Paypal and bank transfer are accepted. Extra Info: I'm the original owner of this tonearm. It is the original Tecnoarm and has the single screw mounting system and VTA adjuster. Please note that if you are wanting to use it on a Rega turntable, the VTA adjustor will require the mounting hole to be enlarged. My images below on the red Rega plinth show the arm without the VTA adjustor. All the original packaging and instructions are included in the sale. Other things you may wish to know: - comes with two underslung counterweights for heavier and lighter cartridges - original black offsets included for Michell Gyrodeck - continuous silver Litz wiring from cartridge clips to RCAs - the difference the silver Litz wiring made was wonderful when I first heard it This is a well-known high quality tonearm and there's lots of reviews and other information available on the internet. 4. Item: Rega Brio R Amplifier Location: Northcote - Melbourne - Vic Price: $500 Item Condition: Good Reason for selling: Sadly no longer seeing use, Have upgraded to and use a completely different system and need to downsize. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought brand new 5 years ago from the excellent Carlton Audio Visual. I ran this amplifier primarily with B&W 683 speakers and never had to abuse or push the amplifier to get to loud and uncomfortable volumes. Also recently tried this with some Cerwin Vega D7's and could still rattle windows with lovely crystal clear clarity to boot. Does come with original remote but no longer have manuals or original box that came with purchase. There are some small and light scratches on both the case and glossy front of amplifier but these are not noticeable unless face right up to amplfier and can be easily buffed out. An overview of the specs inside The award-winning Rega Brio-R amplifier certainly betrays it's compact size with a large performance of exceptional music reproduction for it's price category. It certainly belies it's power output of 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 73 watts per channel into 4 ohms, with an ability to more than competently drive most speakers. Due to it's substantial toroidal transformer, generous power supply components, a rugged output stage the Rega Brio-R justifies it's multi award-winning status. It also has an excellent phono stage with the use of film capacitors at all critical positions within the phono amplifier. It comes housed in a custom cast aluminium half width case. Excellent review here http://www.tonepublications.com/spotlight/rega-brio-r-worlds-first-review/ Feel free to PM with any questions! happy to audition for locals and am not interested in shipping the unit. 5. Item: Rega R Stack - Brio R, Apollo R, DAC R (black) Location: Forestville NSW Price: $1,500 (excl postage) Item Condition: used Reason for selling: No longer required - planned renovations with one less music room Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I have bought these components separately to build what is a great small room and modest stereo system. Some were bought new, others from SNA members. It is a reluctant/nostalgic sale. Planned renovations means I'm dropping a music room I've got original boxes for all 3 components, and willing to post. At this stage, I'm not willing to "split the family" but if I do I'll relist with FS individually. Note that the HiFi Racks furniture is not included in the sale price. At this stage I'm planning to keep the rack, but as this is "EOI" and you are willing to pick up the assembled rack, then make me an offer I've also got lots of short length interconnects - digital and analogue. Buyer can discuss if they want any. Essentially I had digital from CD to DAC, and (clearly) analogue RCA to amp. The CD and DAC use the same DAC chip (Wolfson WM8742) , but the DAC-R uses a pair of them. Add a streamer or endpoint and you are set (I've used SB Touch, Sonore microRendu, Auralic Aries mini at various times). 6. Item: Rega RP6 turntable Location: Canberra ACT Price: $1450 Item Condition: 9/10 Reason for selling: Not enough use Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD, EFT Extra Info: This Rega has the upgraded Groovetracer reference sub platter, along with Ortofon 2m Blue cart with low hours. To my ears its an amazing sounding combo, but unfortunately I just find that when I get a chance to sit down and listen, Im listening to my digital library and not vinyl. The TT has the great RB303 tone arm and external TT-PSU with speed control. I love the look of this thing sitting up on my draws, but not enough to warrant keeping it without use. The TT is in absolutely flawless condition and is always kept with the dust cover on. I have the original box so shipping is not an issue at buyers expense/risk. I know I am going to miss this thing but something has to give as I want to spend more $$ on my digital front end. Pictures:
  7. Item: NAD 556 (Rega RP1) turntable upgraded Performance pack (cartridge, mat & white belt) Location: Melbourne Price: $385 with Rega Bias 2 and beginners pack (cleaner, brush, stylus brush) Item Condition: Almost new Reason for selling: Some really lovely Stereonet gentlemen sold me a fantastic Rega amplifier....and now I feel I'm not doing it justice by running the base model Rega through it so bought a Planar 3 - however it shows just how good the RP1 is!!!!! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Had it 6 weeks, excellent and confirmed exactly what I wanted it to, yes, I am a vinyl guy (well, I am a bi-source guy who likes both vinyl and digital). The second cartridge was very illuminating - I now understand why people spend big dollars on these things! Very impressed with the performance though, the albums have great punch vs. my stream (an Audiolab M-Dac) and has convinced me that vinyl has a place in my system! Has been upgraded with the Rega performance pack - wool mat, Bias 2 cartridge and the famous Rega white belt - pack is $200 Has original box etc Feel free to come and try before you buy Thank you Review: https://www.whathifi.com/nad/c-556/review#juctPjFFoGRvQrXT.99yyy It appears that it comes with a Rega Carbon cartridge (although it's unmarked) https://www.aussiehifi.com.au/rega-carbon-mm-phono-cartridge and Cart option 2: Rega Bias 2 (10 hours usage): https://www.aussiehifi.com.au/rega-bias-2-mm-phono-cartridge Pictures: * does not include Rega platform nor Radiohead - however both are highly recommended
  8. Item: REGA. RP9 turntable external full sized power supply and superb 30 hours use ortofon jubilee cartridge. Books cables etc. Location: Perth Price: 4950 Item Condition: Mint Reason for selling: Upgrading 2 decks to one. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal plus costs freight as buyers cost. Extra Info: As new very very low hour use turntable cart and power supply , no visible scratches on deck ,very mild scuffs on rack mounted power supply but I think will dust off. Superb deck quite possibly the easiest high quality reference turntable on the market - turn it on and go - no set up no suspension issues - just sublime sound and value for money. The arm itself costs more than the entire rp6 deck and arm and the platter is made from space shuttle ceramics. online reviews everywhere but bit more detail. Product Overview:from vision living website but loads of others The P9 is, in our opinion, the ultimate performance turntable available to the music-loving public. We designed the P9 with no financial restrictions whatsoever. The ceramic platter alone costs more to produce than our P5 turntable! With the right cartridge, you will be astonished at just how much information this turntable retrieves from your vinyl LP collection. The plinth is a complex CNC machined skeletal structure encased in highly ridged phenolic resin laminates. The equivalent to the carbon fibre 'monocoque' chassis of the formula one car - an ultra lightweight, ultra rigid foundation for this high performance turntable. The plinth of the new P9 uses a brand new material to hi-fi for the inner skeletal structure. It is an ultra lightweight fibre composite. This results in the plinth being even lighter than the previous Planar 9 and improves the performance. The main bearing assembly is engineered to extremely tight tolerances. This results in virtually friction free rumble-less performance which, if lubricated correctly, will last your lifetime! The platter is quite simply the most exotic material we have used to date in our turntable designs. It is made from pure ceramic; a material that you would otherwise find on missile nose cones or maybe insulation tiles found on Nasa's space shuttle. The reason for using such an exotic and difficult to produce material? It is the hardest material known to man apart from diamond! The P9 carries a decorative surround of exotic solid woods, which you can cleverly interchange if you so wish to give a different appearance. New technologies in CNC woodworking machinery have allowed Rega to produce its first technologically complex surround. The new P9 surround is considerably more attractive than its predecessor and externally much larger although through clever machining the new surround is lower in mass than the old which gives a performance improvement. The external power supply unit is a quart crystal locked system. To ensure accurate speed stability of the platter motor, two quartz crystal control reference oscillators have been utilised. This system produces a high frequency (3 MHz for 33 and 4 MHz for 45) signal, which is then divided down to feed generously rated, high current power fet amps. The output from these is very pure. 9. Item: Rega Brio R Integrated amplifier Location: Brisbane Price: $600 (plus 3% for paypal) Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Not required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: In excellent, like new condition. Comes with remote and original packaging. Local sale preferred but will post if required, contact me for postage quotes. Note: Line appearing in front panel is not a scratch but just a reflection from tiles, Pictures:
  10. Item: Groovetracer reference subplatter Location: Hobart Price: $260 + post Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Upgrading from a Rega TT Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Purchased 2 years ago new from Groovetracer in the US. They now retail at US275 + freight so landing one here would cost about $400. Along with the delrin platter, it really improved the sound of my Rega P5. This is listed as an EOI - my new TT arrives in a couple of weeks and I want to make sure I prefer it over my P5 before committing to a sale. All bits (bearing, oil, instructions) and packaging will be included. White belt not included. Pictures:
  11. Item: Rega RP6 TT - Red with Groovetracer Subplatter Location: Brisbane QLD Price: $1150 - firm Item Condition: Great Reason for selling: upgrading Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+3%), bank deposit Extra Info: Purchased new from Living Sound and Vision in Brisbane April 2015 Comes with upgraded sub-platter: Groovetracer RP6 Reference Subplatter (essential upgrade for RP6 TTs), these cost $300 US$ + plus postage from the USA. http://www.groovetracer.com/RP6Subplatter.htm I will also include Funk Firm Achromat II (3mm thickness) http://www.analogueseduction.net/turntable-mats/funk-firm-achromat-ii.html, as seen in the pictures I have replaced the original Funk Firm label with a good quality custom made Rega center label (had a bunch of these specially printed up in both green and red). Still have the original Achromat label if you want it, (I thought the original looked tacky). Comes with fitted Ortofon 2M Red cart, as pictured (yet deserves a bronze or black). As standard comes with orignal Rega Speed-changer 33/45 and power supply and black belt. Have original box and invoice. Only negative about this TT package is that the lid has a notable circular scratch on the inside of the lid where I regrettably closed the lid after playing a record with a high record puck/weight in place. The up-side is that it's dead-center with the spindle and kinda looks like it's meant to be there (so I keep telling myself). I have yet to try to buff it out with some polish or plastic revitalizer (car light polish etc). Replacement Rega lids are about $90-$100 from local dealers here in Australia NOTE: I'm away at present, but will be back on the 10th June so can't arrange pick-up before then PS: Also selling my Rega RS5 Speakers, see here:

  15. Hey SNA, I have a few Cartridges in my drawer that I had purchased to trial on my previous TT. I have now moved up a notch and have done a deal on an RP6 including an Exact, so my assembled backups are going to be on-sold or gifted depending on their relative merits in either the market or as an improvement to a vintage TT suffering from an overly layed back setup. So I will have the following Cartridges looking to be moved on: 1. Rega Elys 2 - Bought to tame some brightness 2. Ortofon 2M Blue - Bought because the price was too good 3. Nagaoka MP-110 - Bought to get the clarity of the 2M without the top top end brightness. Now my initial thoughts are that the MP-110 is the better cartridge for a vintage Auto TT with a heavier arm, the 2M would really up the anti on the layed backness and the Elys2 is a prime candidate for selling to a proud owner of an entry Rega deck? (P1 or 2) Any thoughts on this mixed bag would be great, and if I was to keep a cart in a backup capacity, which would it be for the RP6? Thanks
  16. Hey people, I have just received my new (pre-loved) RP6 + Exact and started the setup process to make sure it was all working. To my surprise the combination didn't perform particularly well, and I have some terrible right channel distortion. The HiFi News test LP showed it up pretty quickly, and no amount of anti-skate could make it better? Thinking it might just be one of those problems that the Test LP highlights but may not exist in real conditions, I played Sam Smith to see how it sounded.... Again not great, there seemed to be some additional detail, but the imaging seems off, and his voice was 'odd'. Then on the first track of side B, the distortion problem surfaced in normal listening..... BAD. Thinking it may have been the Cartridge at this stage, I spent the next night installing and aligning an MP-110, expecting the distortion issue to disapear....... Nope, first track of side B still crap in all the same places. Now I am a newb at this setup thing, and I was of the opinion the RB303 is a pretty good arm with little that can go wrong ??? But I find it difficult to accept a new virgin copy of the test LP and a <10hr listening of Sam Smith would both show up the same issue that a change in cartridge didnt fix or even really adjust? Also the LP didnt have an issue when playing through a Project/Elys2 combo a month ago..... So I am looking for any advice on what to try next, and also looking to find some experienced face to face help in Canberra to try and resolve the issue. Some of the other things I am thinking might be relevant: I have a new NAD class D amp with a T9 Sub connected with the Speakon cable (earthed via the amp chassis) The Rega arm is earthed through one of the channel return wires, Not sure if this may be causing an issue through the class D, that acts like a balanced Amp? Azimuth or Arm fixings may have been knocked in transit? Bias mechanism is not working properly? Things I tried: Swapped the speaker cables to check it wasnt a damaged tweeter or speaker on the right (Nope distortion now on the left) Swapped and aligned carts with two different protractors Added VTW, Bias etc... Tried different mats, no mat etc... Things to do next: I will find someone who can play my Sam Smith copy to see if that's an issue. Maybe also have them play the test LP to see how theirs performs? Any takers in Canberra for this? Wait for the advice to flow from the SNA members
  17. Item: Rega P3 Turntable with Ortofon OM10 cartridge (Will also throw in a digitech battery powered phone preamp) Location: South Sydney (Bonnet Bay 2226) Price: $390 Item Condition: Excellent. Motor runs silent and smooth / arm lowering mech works flawlessly. Dust lid exhibits some scratches typical for its age but has no cracks to it's surface. Hinges are perfect. No box Reason for selling: Very rarely listen to vinyl and I need money to buy some new gear Payment Method: Paypal + fee, cash on pickup Extra Info: I purchased this from forum member Sheff in April last year. See his post and photos here: http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/101472-sold-sold-rega-p3-turntable-optional-denon-dl103r-cart-bonus-extras/#comment-1600624 (Following text from Sheff’s original post with my edit) Sheff was the second owner and he purchased it from another member who purchased it new from a now defunct hi fi store in Paddington. Sheff used it for less than 10 hours and I have used it maybe 20 hours and that is being generous. I just so rarely listen to vinyl and only when my mate is over as he is a vinyl buff and sometimes will bring over a new album to play. It is completely stock save for the original rubber feet that the original owner had upgraded for metal conical feet (as photographed). Includes all original documentation (instructions / cartridge alignment card / mini flathead screwdriver / purchase receipt) As an added bonus I will also include an Alchemist branded record weight (275 grams) and a set of digital scales that will give an accurate reading to 0.01 grams. Both were purchased by the original owner. I will also include some LPs which I no longer require including some duplicates such as Talking Heads (Remain In Light) and Lou Reed (Rock n Roll Animal) amongst others (see photo) I will also provide an Ortofon OM10 that I purchased new and has less than 20 hours on it. I encourage prospective buyers to have a demo of the tt as it will demonstrate that it performs well above the asking price. The demo can be with your cart or mine ie the Ortofon OM10 Pick up only as I disposed of the box
  18. Item: Rega RP6 + Rega RB 303 Tonearm + Rega Power Supply + Rega Exact 2 + Original and Additional Acrylic Mat + NEVER USED Rega Dust Cover Location: Sydney Inner West Price: $1,100 firm Item Condition: 10/10, not a single mark on it. The cart is as new Reason for selling: upgraded to another turntable Payment Method: Cash, Paypal (+3%) Only Extra Info: I bought this deck new from Apollo Hifi about 1 year ago, and used with extreme care. The turntable is immaculate and has a beautiful minimalistic style which is enhanced by the gloss white colour. I chose this colour because enhances the transparency of the glass platter. I liked this effect so much that I then purchased an acrylic transparent mat so I could leave it on and still have the see-through effect (sound-wise it is the same as the original Rega felt mat, which is also included - and I have NEVER used). The cartridge is in perfect shape (this is a replacement that I got from Apollo about 9 months ago, the original cart was defective and was replaced under warranty). Always handled using the cue lever, never manually, and on records always brushed before playing. A couple of weeks ago my wife had the great idea to wash the original dust cover with a sponge, which obviously resulted in massive amount of marks on it. I then purchased a new ORIGINAL Rega dust cover (rrp is $99) from Apollo Hifi, but shortly after I decided to upgrade the whole system and I have never used the new dust cover (still has plastic film on it). This also comes with the original Rega power supply, and of course the RB 303 Arm. I have all the boxes and original packaging (including the cartridge box and the power supply box) so I can easily pack and send (ay buyers expenses). I should also have the receipts. FYI: I have also a Pro-ject Ground-It, which I recently bought from another SNAer (see photos), which I can sell for an additional $250, which will include three Agora Acoustic Magic Hexa vibration-absorbing feet (rrp is about $45 for these only) (link here: http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/agora-acoustics-magichexa-each/). 19. Item: Rega Apollo R Location: Victoria (Dandenong Ranges) Price: $500 plus shipping Item Condition: Great condition (noticed 2 very minor scuff marks and some very fine scratches on the glossy lid that are only visible on a certain angle) Reason for selling: Not using it much at the moment. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Purchased as ex demo unit from Synergy about 1 year ago. Has had very light use since I purchased it and has performed perfectly. Comes with remote and have original box. Pictures:
  20. Item: Rega Planar 2, Tangospinner Astor Subplatter, Factory Linn Arm, Denon DL110 and Herbies Way Excellent mat Location:Adelaide Price: $700 $500 firm Item Condition: Excellent (other than original dustcover not available) Reason for selling: Moving into the exciting new frontier of high(ish)-end vintage Japanese import Direct Drives Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Extra Info: Happy to pack and ship (at buyers expense), I've done so with audio gear / turntables via fleabay in the past, with good success (check ebay username gordo4455) Dropped price as it needs to move before I go away in a week. Make for good buying: Mat, Headshell, Cart & Subplatter cost more than I am asking!. A very nice deck at what I reckon is a fair price. Set up and aligned / serviced by John from Revolver audio here in Adeliade (known round these parts as johnmath). He'll vouch for its SQ. It has the factory mounted Linn BASIK LVV arm (early Regas sourced components from Linn). Arm in great condition, has not given me any dramas. I added the Tangospinner Astor subplatter (http://www.tangospinner.com/) a year or so ago, which gave immediate sonic benefits - increased speed precision, image clarity & bass tightness. The addition of the Herbies mat (http://www.herbiesaudiolab.net/ttmat.htm) substantially lowered the noise floor and further tightened up the bass. These two are an awesome match for each other - I'd recommend each Rega owner undertake these modest upgrades. Denon DL110 has moderate use - maybe 200hrs, but it still sounds excellent. Cart sits in a good quality Denon headshell imported by me from Japan. It also has the Rega white belt upgrade. The dustcover I use is from another TT & is reasonable nick. The original had some weird stains (superglue / nailpolish), so I turfed it. It only sits on when not in use, I prefer to take off the cover when spinning wax anyhow. Rega originals can be sourced for ~$100 if you are keen. I just never saw the point. Asking $700 $500. Cheers, & thanks for looking Pictures:
  21. Item: Rega Apollo-R CD player (black) Location: Mount Waverley, VIC Price: $500 pickup or buyer pays postage. Item Condition: Very good. Reason for selling: No longer using. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: We're a streaming household now, so the Apollo-R is not getting any use these days. It's in very good condition and will come in its original box with manual, remote and power cord. I'm located in Mount Waverley, VIC - pickup available after hours or buyer pays postage. Pictures:
  22. Item: Rega RP40 with Groovetracer Reference Subplatter upgrade Location: Melbourne Price: $1300 ONO Item Condition: Great. ~150hrs use. Very fine light scratches on the dustcover which I think are present in most acrylic covers. These have been there since new. Reason for selling: Possibly up/side-gradeing. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Purchased on 13/9/14 from Stereophonic in Carlton North. Comes with factory matched TT PSU & Elys40 cartridge. Have all original packaging. Groovetracer reference subplatter has been installed (RRP $275USD+shipping, original subplatter will be provided also). Pictures: From internet - Will post actual photos in a week once I get back home.
  23. Item: Rega RP1 Turntable White Location: Perth (pick up preferred) Price: $350 Item Condition: Mint Reason for selling: Upgrading Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is my first turntable which I purchased in October 2016. As is regularly mentioned around SNA, it is an excellent turntable for someone getting started in vinyl and I certainly credit the RP1 with kickstarting my own passion for vinyl. The cartridge is the Rega Carbon MM which is the stock cartridge that came with the turntable. As far as usage I would guess 5 hours and that is being generous given my very modest vinyl collection at this point (it's probably closer to 3 hours). With such low usage the condition of the RP1 is as new with maybe a few minor hairlines which are barely visible if I am being truly fussy. The Rega RP1 will come complete with all available documents as well as the original box and packaging. As mentioned above the only reason I am selling it is I am upgrading to a refurbished late 70s / early 80s model Technics SL-Q3 direct drive turntable. The Rega RP1 Turntable will surprise you with its sound quality and simplicity. Pictures:
  24. Hi, not sure if i should post this elsewhere but if anyone is interested i decided to do the following on my Rega RP3 - Tangospinner Subplatter and bearing/belt - SME clear Acrylic platter mat - Tangospinner feet First day of everything set up, im not one to ramble on about too many adjectives. lets just say im impressed. its dropped the noise floor and there is more detail in the music, both bass and treble. Notes: the feet are adjustable, makes levelling easy and they look great. the new mat is about 1.5mm thicker than the original wool. VTA is just out by my eye, in saying that - i am loving the sound of this combo the subplatter looks great under the clear platter and mat. Glass platter was spinning at 33.38 when first tested, will try again tomorrow once ive had it on for a day. i was originally going to upgrade to a dynavector 10x5, but i decided to buy these parts, more vinyl and keep the 2m blue as is.
  25. Item: REGA DAC D/A processor Location: Brisbane , QLD Price: $500 $450 Item Condition: Like new, purchased in Sept 2016 (from Living Sound & Vision) Reason for selling: no longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Direct Deposit, Paypal(+ 3%) Extra Info: Solid-state D/A processor.
