  2. Further information: Rega RB330 Tonearm (Melbourne) Designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology, the new RB330 is the culmination of more than 35 years of tonearm design experience. Featuring a brand new bearing housing and our latest tonearm tube designed using intelligent redistribution of mass, ensure this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction free movement from the new high precision bearing assemblies guarantees to gather more information from your vinyl than ever before. Featuring a new bias assembly, re-designed stiffer vertical bearing housing, integrated arm clip and an improved spring housing with easier to read numbers.Rega made, new low capacitance phono cable with Neutrik plugs.Improved lower friction, precision horizontal and vertical bearings. Rega is famed for its tonearm designs. One unique characteristic of these designs is the achievement of near frictionless movement horizontally and vertically whilst having no measurable free play in the bearing assemblies (and in reality one or two microns of pre load). So, why has Rega spent over thirty years and invested so heavily in this area of tonearm design where the removal of even microns of movement has been pursued? Cart not supplied, Tonearm is in mint condition - needing to sell to upgrade. RRP$ currently approx $799 A donation will be made to SNA upon sale. 11. Item: Rega DAC (with an iFi Nano which can be used as a USB to S/PDIF converter) Location: Bunyip VIC, Southeast Melbourne Price: SOLD. including an iFi nano to use as a USB to S/PDIF converter Item Condition: Used, excellent Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Cash; Paypal (add 3%); Bank Transfer Extra Info: I got this as an upgrade from my Musical Fidelity V-DAC II earlier this year, and got the iFi nano to use as a USB to S/PDIF converter. Instead of getting the new Rega DAC-R, which has up to 192 kHz via USB, I figured this would be a far cheaper way to get all the benefits of hi res through USB without shelling out $1200. Now with this combo, you can have all the benefits of the hi res through the Rega DAC without paying three times the price. The DAC is in excellent condition. See the photos I took in natural outdoor light, with the intention of showing the unit as it appears. What you see in the photo is how it looks. There are very minimal cosmetic markings, if any, on the DAC. The iFi is a bit more cosmetically challenged, and I have documented this in the photos. The good thing is that while it works perfectly, it is very small, runs on USB power only, and can be easily hidden out of sight if that's what you want to do. It can also handle 192 kHz and DSD in its own right if you want that. But my intention was to use it simply as the USB converter, as the Rega DAC only came out with 48 kHz through the USB for some reason. So if you're playing files from your computer, ruun the USB into the iFi nano DAC, then the co-ax digital out from there into the co-ax in on the Rega, and you have equalled the Rga DAC-R in performance, for all intents and purposes. The Rega DAC retailed for $1199 when it was on the market. I went deaf in one ear from a virus a few months ago, and have neither a need nor desire for my hi fi gear any longer. After months of deliberation, I've decided to sell it all, so please have a look at my other listings in case there is anything else you might like. You are welcome to come and pick it up from Bunyip, about 20 minutes east of Pakenham. Or I am also happy to deliver it anywhere in Melbourne for free if you prefer. Alternatively, shipping can be arranged at the buyer's expense. https://www.whathifi.com/rega/dac/review https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ifi-nano-idsd.19896 Pictures:
  12. Item: Rega RP10 Location: Williamstown Price: $4500 Item Condition: Perfect! Reason for selling: Upgrading... yes I know Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Ok ok ok, I know I don't need to write or say anything here. It's an RP10 for goodness sake. One of the long term institutions of the hi-fi industry, and part of many peoples first steps into their musical loungeroom journeys, Rega is well know to deliver some of the simplest, most reliable and grin inducing turntables in the world. This turntable is only a couple of months old. It is in perfect condition. Seriously. Comes with all of the items a new turntable has in the box, except the cartridge. So if you’re looking to step up your turntable, you’d be hard pressed to do better anywhere near the price. Every aspect of vinyl reply has been addressed on this turntable - Rega has pulled out all the stops. The platter is made from compressed ceramic-oxide powder and diamond-cut for accuracy of shape, weight, and surface flatness. The arm is handmade and is the highest form of art and technology in an arm that Rega can deliver. The power supply is hand tuned to this turntable in the factory. Everything is designed to let the music free from those grooves. Full retail is $6,799 so your saving $2300 straight off the bat. See: https://www.carltonaudiovisual.com.au/rega-rp10.html I’ll refer to the TAS review: http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/rega-rp10-turntable-and-apheta-moving-coil-cartridge/ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: • Handmade RB2000 tonearm, precision engineered bearing and aluminium sub platter • Ceramic oxide diamond cut flywheel platter • Fully adjustable RP10 dedicated power supply tuned to its own motor • Rega’s pioneering skeletal plinth design • Aluminium skin phenolic bracing I've included some Rega photos, which are much better than my poor attempts of shooting the turntable. 13. Item: Rega Exact cartridge plus Rega Fono Mini A2D phono preamp Location: ACT Price: 250 posted Item Condition: Phono cartridge 9/10, Pre-amp 8/10 (two small marks) Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup or post - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays fee or as friend and family) Extra Info: I already have another cartridge I use with my Schiit Mani that sounds much the same but suits my record player better as this cartrdige probably needs to be used with a shim on my tone arm. I know people dislike the fact that people say cartridges have been used for less then X hours so I will put this differently. I simply don’t enjoy vinyl and prefer digital which is much easier in every sense and as such rarely touch the 200 odd vinls I own. I would have struggled to play 75, let alone 100 LPs. This is apparent in the photos I have taken of the needle. This cartridge sounds great with the phono, hence the sale combination. This represents a huge saving on new and is only cheap because the resale on both items isn’t great and I need to sell excess gear before I can buy anything else. I can split the items but it will more expensive to buy both separately. Pictures:
  14. Item: NEW Rega Elicit - R Amplifier Location: Melbourne Price: AMP SOLD ELSEWHERE Item Condition: Brand new, unopened box, delivered yesterday Reason for selling: Buying a Naim all in one. This is a new replacement item. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: In December 2018 I bought a Rega Elicit-R for my use in my living area. I soon realised that I would be better served having an all in one unit that included a DAC and Streamer. I was able to buy the initial Rega Elicit - R as an open box special and got a great price. The amp looked new and worked perfectly. However, after advertising it here on Stereonet I was packing it up and found the box contained a manual - that indicated it had been sold before!! The local retailer has been terrific with support and has delivered me a brand new unopened replacement Elicit -R yesterday. I am going to pass this new item on at the price the first amp cost me. (I would appreciate it if it was bought for personal use not flipping). I would much prefer local pick up in Melbourne. Nice performance summary by CAV; Rating at a very understated 105W RMS into 8 ohms, Rega's in-house designed power amp stage is set to pull the carpet out from under your speakers and make them do things you never thought possible. This has two Sanken Darlington Bipolar Transistors in the output stage which are rated at 150 watts each ... if this were a Japanese amplifier it would be rated at 300RMS as that is what these are capable of. Our local Audio Designer Gary Cawsey points out that these are the best output devices in the world ... none of those cheap Hitachis or Toshibas that proliferate elsewhere. With the Elicit-R playing Keith Jarrett this amplifier immediately sounds far more expensive than it is. There is that solid spatial portrayal and sense of the presence of the instruments that we are accustomed to with amplifiers with an extra decimal place. Still a definable Brio-R character though with a fullness and solidity that takes the edge away, but matured without the rough parts that tell us that a Brio R is still less than two thousand dollars. The Elicit-R is a very grown up amplifier. Good balanced review in plain language, http://www.audiophilia.com/reviews/2016/9/24/j027nrfz2howy3zvaklg5heqh9io1l Pictures:

  16. Item: Swagman Linear PSU for Rega Turntables - Special Edition Location: Brisbane QLD Price: $300 Item Condition: Used but presents as new Reason for selling: No longer required (selling my Rega RP8) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: This is the 'Special Edition' version, which are made only on special request Purchased Nov 2016. Used this on a Rega RP6 and later a RP8. For those that don't know this device replaces the cheap and nasty Rega 'wall-wart' power pack that plugs into the Rega Speed changer PSU box. This didn't come with a 'kettle cord' but can include one. Here's the blurb from the manufacturer: The low noise toroidal transformer increases the output current capability. EMI filter takes place as a result of suppressing RFI noise in the system subjected to electromagnetic interferences. It's a perfect upgrade Rega Turntable TT PSU which offer significantly improvement in sound quality. The power supply is equipped with a high quality cable made of OFC copper insulated wires. 17. Item: Rega RP8 TT Location: Brisbane, QLD Price: $2500 Item Condition: Great used condition, Purchased May 2017 Reason for selling: Funding other Hi-Fi purchase Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+ 3%) Extra Info: In great used condition, as pictured. I've been using this with my Rega Elicit-R and a Nag MP-500 cart and it sounds ace! I've had this since new, Purchased only in May 2017. I upgraded to this deck from a Rega RP6 and I think it was a substantial upgrade. NO stylus/Cart included. Although it is now boxed up securely in the original box and packaging, I would prefer local buyer/pick-up. http://www.rega.co.uk/rp8.html A couple of minor things worth noting: 1. I think I mixed up the phono plug caps somewhere along the line when switching gear. So the screw-on connector caps (pictured below), I don't think they are the originals. They're gold and look flash, yet they don't screw-on snugly, yet truly causes no issues in regards to making a secure connection to your amp or phono stage 2. I noticed a couple of very minor 'blemishes' on the front edge of the lid when I was taking pictures. I've tried to capture them clearly in the attached pictures (for full disclosure). Hopefully like me, you will hardly notice them. 3. There is some darkening/discolouration of the top metal brace, as occurs with all RP8/RP10s PS: I'm also selling separately a Swagman SE (Special Edition) PSU that I was using with this deck (and also the RP6 before it). The Swagman replaces the 'wall-wart' power pack that is standard on the Rega TTs Pictures:

  21. Hi All, I'm looking for some advice on a Phono preamp, I dipped a toe in the water of vinyl several years ago and bought a Rega RP1 which has done well for itself plugged into the built-in phono stage of my PM8005 Amp. I am a stereo fence sitter with a foot in both digital and analogue but my record collection has ballooned to 50+ records and I find myself turning to vinyl more and more when I want to listen to a specific artist or full album. So time to take a plunge and upgrade. So far I have settled on a P3 (I seem to like the Rega over the more analytical options) and an Rega Exact to tone down the potential warmth of the P3/elys 2 standard option. Trouble is I am buying blind when it comes to Phono amps having no practical experience. What level of investment should I put into this to match the rest of the equipment without having a weak link or over investing. Any suggestions would be appreciated as Phono stages are surprisingly difficult to research compared to the the more exciting components of a stereo. Also, if I really need to check out anther TT happy to moved away from the current Rega plan Current Gear for analogue, AMP: Marantz PM8005 Speakers: Vienna Acoustic Bach HP Amp: Schiit Vahella 2 HP: HD650s Thanks TwoDaysLate (Mike)

  24. Hello everyone! I wouldn't be asking for help if I hadn't tried everything I could think of, but this is messing with my mind for some time now and I can't stop thinking about it, mainly because I either find a solution or I resign to listen to music with a background buzz. I also know there are tons of threads like this. Believe me, I read a lot of them and many of the things I tried were suggested on those exact threads. I also know that this could probably be fixed with a ground wire, but is taking the tonearm apart of a one month old turntable really the only option? Would it 100% fix it? I would like to avoid losing the warranty as much as possible. (HUGE READ AHEAD) I'll try to keep it as short as possible, but I don't want to miss any detail. I tried a mountain of things and still couldn't fix it, so I'm hoping some of the more experienced users here could chime in and discuss ideas/share how they solved issues like this one. My system is not the best, mainly because I'm using a home theatre receiver, but this shouldn't happen nevertheless: TT: Rega Planar 1 w/ Rega Carbon (1 month old) Receiver: Marantz SR-73 (early 90s) Speakers: B&W DM305 (mid 90s?) First of all, I want to point out that I'm not sure if the issue was present since I acquired the Planar 1 or if it developed in the mean time. I honestly can't pinpoint when I noticed it, but it was maybe a week and a half ago. The issue is fairly simple. I have a high pitched buzz that I can hear when the volume is at 25%+ which is not loud at all. I'm writing this post listening to music using this exact setup, directly below my son's bedroom, dial is precisely on the 25% position and you can't hear a sound upstairs. House does not have the best isolation either. Anyway, the buzz is there and gets louder when I turn the volume up. It also gets louder when I position my hand next to the cartridge or the back tip of the tonearm. For the ones who don't know, Rega does not use an external grounding wire like most manufacturers. Now, here's what I tried doing: Move the TT away from the amp. To the front, sides and back. As far as the wiring lets me; Disconnect any other piece of equipment from the receiver leaving only the speakers and the TT; Change speaker wire (the one I was using was crap, now I upgraded); Unplugged TT from power outlet; Changed power strip/plugged directly to the wall (receiver); Tried it with headphones; Tried it with different receivers; Moved rooms AND floors; Tried setting up the amp and turntable on different bases; Unplugged everything connected to a power outlet on the same room; Turned off the lights. Nothing solved it. NOTHING. It didn't even make it better. And yes, the TT doesn't need to be powered (or the power cord connected) for the issue to arise. Also, the buzz is constant and does not happen on any other input. Now, here's what helped a little bit: If I plug a RCA -> Jack cable to my aluminum phone, the buzz is reduced a bit; If I plug the turntable power cord directly to the receiver (it has a power outlet on the back), the buzz is further reduced. BUT, it is still there and it's annoying, mainly if I want to listen to music using headphones. Now, this is where things get worse (I guess). A friend brought his Pioneer PL-100 and Pioneer vintage amp to my place and we set it up on the exact same location: Rega connected to his amp -> Buzz Pioneer PL-100 connected to his amp -> No buzz So, issue might be on the turntable or my place, right? OK, let's take the turntable and my amp to his place. Different house, different area of the city (~3 km away). We got there, connected everything up and, you guessed it, same exact buzz. So, case solved, it's the turntable! Well, not quite. The hi-fi shop I bought it in is a few meters away from his place so we decided to go there. Once we got there, we connected my receiver, my turntable and my headphones. Guess what, not a sound. There was a bit of hum, but only when the volume was raised above 75%. And it was not the same type of sound. At my place (and my friend's), it's a high pitched hiss/buzz mixed with a low one. At the store, there was only the low one, which is not half as annoying. And only noticeable at 75%+ volume, which I'll probably never use. Btw, the electrical installation at my place is 15 years old. His is a year and a half. Both are grounded as far as we know, we're in Europe in case that helps (not the UK). This has got a lot bigger than I thought and I think every piece of information needed is there. What would you do? I can't enjoy listening to music and I don't want to throw the €270 spent on the Planar 1 down the gutter. I can't even use the warranty because they'd probably test it at Rega and say there's no issue, just like it happened at the store (I watched the test being done, I listened myself). So, any ideas? I'm at a loss and I can't get my head off of this, I could use some help.
