I have original boxes for the DAC and Preamp, the Power amp box was attacked by mice soon after purchase, so no box . JJ Pictures:

  12. Hi guys, I am looking at selling on my brand new Yamaha CX-A5000 11.2 channel AV processor. This unit has been sat in its box for about 6 months whilst my home is being built but due to overspending on he build I need to sell it to recover some funds. As you do when you get a new toy, the unit has been opened to take a look but it has never been powered on so is absolutely as new and would suit a new buyer. This unit was selected after many hours of reviewing and auditioning and has received fantastic reviews. The CX-A5000 is $3499 retail but will currently accept offers around $2490. I am willing to negotiate to a certain extent but not to a silly amount. I can organise interstate shipping if required but will not ship outside Aus. If you require a shipping quote please let me know your suburb and postcode. For a more detailed look at the units specification take a look at the link below to Yamaha's website. http://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/aventage_separate_components/cx-a5000_black_a/?mode=model For enquiries you can reach me on 0404 986 863. Kind Regards Mike
  13. I have been playing with digital volume control with a DAC straight into a power amp for a while now. I cannot flaw the digital volume control but after getting used to it, it's starting to sound a bit lean or meager, and I am starting to feel that I am missing something. If a pre amp function is to just sqeeze the volume to less than 100%, than why do some pre amps have huge power supplies and large capacitors? Am I missing something by bypassing the pre amp, and go from the DAC straight into the ower amp?
  14. Hi folks, Come the next tax return time I am looking forward to adding my next component to my emerging stereo setup. I've just recently added a Rotel RMB 1582 mk2 which is presently tethered to my Denon AVR 3310 via the Denons preouts. My goal is to have my stereo system separate to my HT. Well that's not quite accurate as I plan to use the RCA and Balanced inputs on the 1582 to take a signal either from the Denon (RCA) or Pre amp (Balanced). Listening either to stereo or the HT setup will just be a toggle switch position change on the 1582. I've also replaced the previous floorstanders (Whatmough Audiolabs M30s) with the Whatmough P33i - yep - I'm a fan of their build/quality/sound. I've lusted after these puppies for many, many months and despite listening to other speakers in the price bracket, I just fell under their spell. Hence the addition of a power amp to give them a good dose of oomph. To keep the tonality of the new fronts in sync with the centre speaker, I've also lashed out on a new Whatmough centre that shares the same drivers as the P33s. Santa definitely came early this year. So with a good many months to go until Mr Taxman decides (hopefully) to throw some sheckles my way, I'm looking for ideas on a good Pre amp to buddy up with the 1582 with the option of also replacing my existing CDP - a Rotel RCD-06SE with a beastie one or two steps further up the quality ladder. Price wise, I'm looking between $1-$2K for the Pre and around $1K for the CDP. I am yet to be converted to the vinyl dark side and have instead invested in silver spinners with the last 12 months seeing many new additions attempting to slip past the admonishing gaze of my better half (well if I've got to give up riding motorcycles - I've got to replace one passion with another - that's how it works isn't it?). Digital music files might come into the mix at some point, but at the moment I'm happy popping jewel cases open. So the Pre doesn't necessarily need to be optioned up with every conceivable input. Your thoughts and suggestions will be much appreciated! Cheers, James
  15. Hey guys, just after a used Marantz AV8801 pre/pro, let me know what you have, thanks 0404 120820.
  16. Recently came across this Beast recently for a bargain..... I think. I was just after peoples thoughts, experiences and opinions with Nakamichi products (In particularity this one), Rather than the tape decks we usually associate the name with. I believe this is a 80's / 90's product and it hasn't been used for about 7 years until yesterday. I have never bothered thinking about 'Caps Replacement jobs etc' on my other vintage gear. But considering the age and that this particular amp might be of some status and value, Would it be worth me spending some hard earned on a freshen up ? If anyone knows anything about the amp, please share. Nakamich PA-7II "Stasis" Inherently Stable/Uniform Amplifier 225+225W Made in Japan. Approx 30KG. Also have the CA-5II.

  18. I have a Sony TA-E2000ESD digital processing control amplifier. I want to use it as a pre-amp for my two front Cerwin vega CLS-15 with my Yamaha RX-V3900 as the power amp. Problem is before I can even turn on the sony I saw that it is 120v 60Hz with a flat pin plug! What are my options? How much is it going to cost me? Is it even worth it? Thanks for any help
  19. Item: Lexicon MC12 Surround Sound Pre Amp Processor Location: Yandina, Sunshine Coast, Queensland Price: $1500 Item Condition: Used Reason for selling: We have dismantled our home theatre system as we are going travelling Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: The Lexicon MC12 has three zones, twelve configurable inputs, on board processing, twelve output channels, and a wide array of expansion capabilities enable the MC-12 to easily meet the demands of the discerning audio/video enthusiast The three zones are independent, allowing for seamless control of multi-room systems. Because each zone is capable of routing a different input source, it is possible to watch a DVD in the home theatre while listening to a CD in the kitchen and recording a program from a satellite receiver to a DVD-R. The record zone can also be used to provide audio to a third room. This processor is in perfect working order and is still one of the best on the market. We have now dismantled our home entertainment system and are selling the pieces individually. The lexicon comes with it's original box, remote control and owners manual. Please call me on 0434 028626
  20. Item: Audiolab 8000Q pre amp Location: Melbourne Price: $450 Item Condition: as new Reason for selling: upgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, bank deposit For sale is an Audiolab 8000Q pre amp in first class condition. It is in such good condition it would suit a new buyer, and the remote still has the protective cellophane. Soundwise the bass is full and solid, the mids are rich and detailed and the highs very smooth - its musically very satisfying. Comes with everything - original box, complete packaging, remote control, manual and power cable. I don't know the date of manufacture (it doesn't appear on the case). I bought it a few months ago as brand new old stock. Its a fine pre amp and I think no real difference from the 8200. And its a great price for an as-new pre amp.
