  9. I've been searching the Forum to see if anyone has written reviews on the Voodoo Power Cords. I have read some sparing comments including reference to other power cables in the FS posts, but there doesn't seem to be many reviews here or on the net. Does anyone have experience and comments on characteristics of the Voodoo Power Cables, with reference to the Avatar, Ultra Wave (lower end) which I'm sure they are good enough, plus PS Audio and Isotek (comparisons). I don't want to spend thousands on Power cables, aiming for $500/cable so am interested in reviews on whether they are any good. many thanks

  19. Item: Isotek EVO3 Polaris Power Conditioning Board with EVO3 Premier Power Cable (1.5 m AUS plug) Location: South Gold Coast Price: $450 FIRM + post / courier costs. If no interest in package I would consider selling the power board alone, or both items separately if I can close a sale on the power board. Item Condition: Original packaging. Perfect working order. The power board presents as new. The cable is in very good condition with minor signs of use on pins (see pic) and very light scuff marks on cable itself, noticeable when checked up close. You may notice the label on plugs are bowed. This is as they came when purchased and for all I know is intentional? The labels have not, and would not come loose unless prised out as the recess for the tag is so tight hence the bow. Reason for selling: Reduced number of boxes in system. Remaining components require right angle IEC plugs due to shelving constraints. So these are NLR. Payment Method: Pickup - COD, EFT, Paypal (any fees at purchasers expense) Extra Info: Purchased by me from local dealer in June 2015. I haven't played around with my system to much in that time so the board has been tucked away virtually unmoved. The cable has been rerouted a few times hence light scuffs. Here are technical details / marketing from the Isotek website. http://www.isoteksystems.com/products/ Power board Removes Common Mode and Differential Mode mains noise. RFI reduction 30dB Independent outlets stop Differential Mode cross contamination Unique delta filter topology improves product performance 13,500A of instantaneous protection, featuring IsoTek’s unique sequential protection system Internal wiring; multi-strand silver plated OFC copper with PTFE dielectric. Maximum continues power 2,300W. Cable Our most affordable mains cable, the EVO3 Premier was inspired by discussions with high-end electronics companies, many of whom produce audio equipment that retails for tens of thousands of pounds and yet is bundled with poor quality power cords that significantly constrain performance. This led us to produce a high-quality alternative that respects standard geometric principles, but where every single element is carefully considered, implemented and manufactured to the highest possible standard. There are many brands offering high- quality power cables but these are often very expensive, and also impractical because of their inflexibility and weight. Our goal was to attain similar levels of performance from a more practical cable at a fraction of the price. The EVO3 Premier not only delivers excellent performance, it also represents outstanding value-for-money. No compromise has been made in relation to the quality of parts and materials used in its construction. Pictures: As good as I can achieve this morning. Plenty of glossy ones out there.
  20. For the October meeting of the Sydney Audio Club, we are very pleased to have Steve Behrens of Audio Active present (refer to http://audioactive.com.au/). Audio Active is a leading supplier of specialist audio-visual products, with a commitment to sourcing products of only the finest quality, while delivering value for money, even on the most high-end systems. They are the exclusive Australian importer and distributor for some of the world’s most respected home theatre and hi-fi brands, including the UK brand Isotek which will be featured this month. This month, Steve will present different Isotek power mains conditioning products. Isotek is an English company that designs and manufacturers highly specialised mains conditioners that clean your power before it reaches your hi-fi or audio visual system. The one thing all electronic devices need is power. And to some extent, your power is probably polluted with Differential and Common Mode mains noise. Differential noise is created by the power supplies in all electronic devices. Common Mode noise is introduced into your devices by RFI and wireless communications (e.g. Wi-Fi). Isotek mains conditioners clean your power and allows your system to sound more pure, clean and quiet. (Clean power also allows audio-visual gear to render better images.) And of course, Isotek mains conditioners also provide protection from dangerous power surges and spikes. Isotek is recognised as the leader in clean-power technology, and have recently won yet another award - the “Most innovative Brand 2016” – refer to http://www.plusxaward.de/en/innovativste-marke-des-jahres/. Steve will introduce and demonstrate the various Isotek products, starting with the entry level Polaris through to the cutting edge Mosaic Genesis. This event will give you the ideal opportunity to discover what clean power can do for your system. Details of the system…. Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Baby Grand Symphony speakers – gorgeous sounding and looking speakers made by the highly respected Austrian manufacturer. All components will be wired with the excellent value-for-money Isotek power cord, the EVO3 Premier. Refer to http://www.isoteksystems.com/products/get-connected/evo3-premier/ Note: We will also have an Oppo BDP-105D Universal player on hand to allow the playing of SACD and USB flash drives. The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on CD/SACD or USB flash drive. (Sorry, no vinyl this month, but next month we will have an excellent turntable!) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park Address: 26 Stanley Road, Epping When: Sunday 9th October 2016 Doors open 1pm Meeting starts at 2pm Best regards, Tom Waters President Sydney Audio Club www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au tomwaters@sydneyaudioclub.org.au
  21. I don't know if this is the case or not. But maybe.... Last year I was having issues with my study system - PC as a source, Yamaha CD S2000 as a source, Copland CSA 29 and Revel M22 speakers. Krispy cables. The issue was intermittent static and fading in one of the speakers. I upgraded PC (new everything including $400 sound card - total spend $1800), still there. Changed out 6922s in Copland - still there. Changed Amps to a Yamaha A S1000 - that amp died last week (not happy). I had the Copland with Eddie Lee (a well known Sydney Amp repairer) during January after swapping in the Yamaha - not fault found. He said the Copland is one of the cleanest and well made amps he's seen in terms of insides and the performance was impressive... (scratch my head - ok, maybe nothing wrong with it after all and I'm a moron for going and buying the Yamaha..). I plug the Copland in last weekend - issue still there... grrrrrrrrrrr. Contact Yamaha - advised the return Amp as its within 60 days. Issue: No A S1000's left anywhere.......... So getting to my point. Yesterday I'm listening to my study system and getting annoyed when I hear the static and fading every now and then. I decide to change the source of power from one side of the room that was feeding it via an extension cord and power board ($30 one - nothing of note). I had purchased some Isotek Polaris power boards and Isotek power cables off Jimsan at Tivoli last year which were laying around downstairs. So I grab them and plug into different power point, plug the power cords from Amp and CD into the IsoTek Polaris powerboard. The issue has not recurred again. I had the system pumping all day yesterday and from 730am this morning. So could it have been the power feed??? Maybe the Isotek Polaris made a difference and different power point on the wall. Possibly the old power source was degraded / dirty and the Isotek is buffering to smooth out the juice (not sure if these powerboards do this or its just the power conditioners). I read the Polaris does some filtering - so maybe its not hype and its actually delivering that... Interested in people's experience. I think its the case for me. Wish I'd have plugged these things in before wasting money ........ (sigh) John
