  1. Hey everyone, new to the board here and feeling very welcome. I've got an old 1990s NAD 310 integrated amp that I bought while living in Melbourne about 7-8 years ago. The fella who sold it to me stated it was tweaked by a one Richard McDonald, and when I auditioned this little unit I was blown away. At the time, I had dug up what I could find about Richard and his modifications to amps as well as the Quasimodo stuff he built. This little amp left a lasting impression on me, so much so that it was my only possession (along with some PSB Image B5 speakers) that I had shipped when I moved to the USA. My wife and kids had shipped heaps of stuff in comparison, but this was the only thing that mattered to me and I knew I wouldn't be able to replace it. To this day it is still my main (read: only) amp for listening, and it has been running off of a step-up transformer so I can power the 240v unit over here on 120v. What I'm trying to find out is what kind of impedance / wattage this thing is rated for after the mods. I know, I know, I can probably find out by using a multimeter and a specific resistor, but I'm not very savvy with electronics like that and I am afraid I might damage something. Not to mention I don't live anywhere that I can easily buy a decent multimeter or even a package of resistors. I live very deep in the middle of nowhere. The main reason I want to know is because my dear wife has done something unimaginable and bought me a pretty ridiculous set of speakers for Christmas (ridiculous in terms of the standards set forth by my wallet). She did this without asking specs or really anything, and picked them out herself. I'm impressed, gobsmacked, and incredibly grateful. So my question is this: These new speakers are rated at 200w @ 4ohms. Will this little modified NAD fry these new speakers my wife bought for me? I'm afraid to find out the hard way. I likely wouldn't be able to come up with $400 USD for a "reasonable" integrated amp for at least another few months, and I am hoping I'll be able to enjoy these with my family on Christmas. Thanks in advance for reading my rant and ramble, and for any insight or helpful input you can provide.
  2. Further Information: Yamaha A-S701 Integrated Amplifier. This thing is pretty heavy, and built like a tank ! The sound is nice, and very decent especially when running a pair of speakers, or 2 pairs of speakers via a quadrophonic set up - you can make your own surround sound :). I am sad i have to let this one go ; its the best budget amp on the market by far and for this price its what i would call a bargain ; priced to sell! Needless to say, one man's item is another mans treasure ; be quick to snap this one up ! Pickup only - just to make it easier - and i am happy to demonstrate that it turns on etc. Cheers
  3. Further information: Linn's highly regarded CD player, AM/FM tuner, integrated amplifier. 75 W per channel into 4 ohms. Head phone socket, 4 inputs and pre-amp out. Add say, a Bluesound Node 2i, a couple of bookshelves or smaller floor standers and have an excellent system that still makes really great music. Dimensions 80mm x 320mm x 325mm Weight 6kg It was purchased new in 2001 and gave faithful service for many years. I recently had it checked over by the local Linn dealer and it is still working as well as ever. The remote is only about 10 years old after the first one failed - coffee. Also included is a set of speaker plugs (as shown in the photo). User Guide Download https://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Manuals_-_Classik (I have a pdf if required). 4. Further information: Impeccable Vincent SV-400 Integrated amplifier. Have original box, packing and remote control. Great amp, lots of grunt for the money and super quiet -- and sounds great too. RRP is $999: https://www.selby.com.au/vincent-sv-400-integrated-amplifier-black-sv400b.html Can post at buyer's expense. https://www.vincent-tac.de/en/product-types/integrated-amplifiers/sv-400.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAtA2LbYDdw The weight alone shows that a solid power unit has been integrated, capable of guaranteeing stability. The 6800uF filter capacitors, a ring core transformer and electronic volume control all make a clear statement. The SV-400 is also equipped with a D/A converter in order to playback music formats offered by a PC or music server. A USB socket acts as the input here. 5. Further information: A beast of an integrated amp, it is near 20 kilos of solid metal. I have two, one I made into a purifi integrated amp as a bit of a fun DIY project and i'm going to keep that one for sentimentality more than anything. This being an old school stepped attenuator, it does make a 'pop' when you change the volume. It has two line level RCA inputs and one home theatre bypass or power amp input. Run a second set of speaker wire from the outposts to your high level input sub. If you need more inputs like I did, i recommend one of the douk audio switching boxes into line level 1 or two. What's great about these switches is that it gives you another 4 line level inputs and an additional switchable output which can go into your headphone amp. They are available here for about 80 bucks and objectively inaudible https://doukaudio.com/products/stereo-4-in-2-out-rca-audio-signal-splitter-switcher-selector-passive-preamp-85 Check out our own Cafad's review of the Amp here 80 watts a channel into 8 ohms and 140 watts into 4 ohms. 8. Item: NAD 375BEE Integrated amplifier Location: Melbourne , South East Suburbs Price: $775 Item Condition: Very good, sparingly used over last six years but i dont have the packaging. However the amp is in great condition as is the remote. Reason for selling: NLR, thinking of changing to tube integrated amp to have a change!
