  4. Item: Fostex T50RP Orthodynamic Headphones (Modded) Location: Bendigo, VIC Price: $150 (negotiable) Item Condition: Good Condtiion Reason for selling: Have a pair of Hifiman HE-6 Headphones...they sound very similar so no need for two pairs of similar sounding headphones Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Direct Deposit, Paypal Extra Info: I purchased these at the start of the year as I've heard modded T50RP headphones sound very close to top teir orthodynamics. I cannot say they are wrong, they sound VERY close to my HE-6, but overall I still perfer the HE-6, so these are up for sale. Modifications are: Hard wiring directly to each driver terminating into a balanced 4-pin XLR connector (I am willing to reterminate this into a 1/4 in jack if perfered no extra cost). Response Super Sound Deadener Acoustic Fiberglass Insulation Cotton wool Middle Headband Shure 840 pads (modded to be angled) (one has a slight tear in it) (pictures included) The only other mention is the previous owner of the headphones cut into the stock band to mount a Smyth SVS Realiser reciever. You can read up on Various internet forums for what the modifications bring, but I can say the modifications have really transformed the T50RP, which in stock form don't sound bad, but are very very far away from the HE-6, these sound closer to the HE-6 but are not as bright, and have less sibilance. Compared to a stock T50RP, Bass response is much better, clarity is much improved, overall sound signature is Neutral to neutral-warm I would say, soundstage is better.
  5. Item: Sennheiser HD 800 Location: Brisbane (Bulimba) QLD Price: SOLD Item Condition: Great condition, see pics. I see two small blemishes on headphone cups, but otherwise looks nearly new. 7. Item: Musical Fidelity M1 HPA Location: Canberra Price: $640 + postage. Item Condition: One small mark on top edge (shown in photo), otherwise perfect. Reason for selling: Need some cash and the MF is an optional system component. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank Transfer. Extra Info: I purchased the Musical Fidelity M1 HPA last year from Miranda HiFi to use primarily as a preamp with the Weiss DAC2 and W4S Monoblocks. Its inclusion in my system massively improved on the sound I was getting with a direct connection from the Weiss to my power amps. The class A MF M1 HPA is clean, powerful and detailed, but has a subtle sweetness that is very inviting. I haven't used it much as a headphone amp (I don't have high-end phones) so I can't comment on it in that role, though it reviews well. Similarly, I have never used its USB DAC but understand that it is fairly basic. When I purchased it it retailed for $1K but it looks as though it goes for $900 now. Here's a review: http://www.techradar...a-720752/review Prior to removing it from my system it was in completely immaculate "as new" condition. However, I clumsily managed to knock the top edge with a power cable while extracting it, and it now has a small mark which I have tried to capture in the photographs. I have all the original packing etc. Pictures:
  8. I would like to re-terminate my K601s to 4-pins XLR for use with my NFB10SE. I have read a few people reporting that it improves the sound as the added output power helps these rather difficult to drive headphones. I'm thinking of getting the items in this guide and following it: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/Phoenix/ModifyEN.htm Is there anyone that has done this / knows how this can be done? While I'm at it, would it be recommended to re-cable and dual entry as well so that wire does not get routed through the headband?
