  1. Will donate $20 once I sold these two items as this forum really helped me a lot for selling my gears recently. And I have 2 set of RCA cables, one is Audioquest brand (1m or 0.75m, worth maybe $40-$50?), another one's brand is unknown, but quality is pretty good, anyone who is interested, just message me to arrange a pick up. Got them from a fellow SNA member at the first half of this year, the condition is flawless, both leather band and wooden cups are maintained regularly, and the sound is perfect. but I don't have the box or original accessories (extension cable, 6.3-3.5 adapter). price is $520 ONO, feel free to make me an offer. Local pick up at Chadstone area preferred, but I can do shipping as well, paypal fee and postage extra. any questions, feel free to message me. Cheers Pictures: can provide more on request Item: Cambridge Audio CXC single speed transport Location: Chadstone 3148 Price: $520 ONO Item Condition: mint Reason for selling: surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: Bought them from a2a at the first half of this year, near new condition, comes with full box, accessories and paperworks. selling as it doesn't see much use, I prefer to directly connect my laptop to my DAC to play some musics. Hence try to list it to see if someone is interested. But this item is pick up only as it's quite heavy. Pictures: can provide more on request

  7. They are loved worldwide, and hand-crafted in America. Unfortunately we don't quite get them as cheap as the yanks do - which makes sense, considering they all need to be imported. So, how relevant are they here in Australia? I've owned two pairs in the past: Modded Alessandro MS1, and my current Modded SR80i (pictured below). They are both cheaper models, with but have been made a bit prettier with new pads, and hand-crafted wood. Definitely not "neutral" cans, but can be a lot of fun for a casual Sunday listen, depending on what kind of sound you're into. So, anyone else into Grado stuff? Anyone tried (or owned) the high-end models?
  8. Apologies if this is in the wrong section, or has been asked before (I did some searching but had no luck) but... I own a pair of Alessandro MS-1s which have developed some cable issues. Given that the sheathing is cracking in a couple of spots I'm intending to re-cable them (or have them recabled). I'm wondering if anyone can point me to either: a - A site or store that sells reasonably priced cable by the metre, as well as connectors, with reasonable shipping. or b - Somewhere/one that will re-cable them for an affordable price. I'm not concerned with specialty 'audiophile' cables (silver, ultra low oxygen etc.), reasonable gauge copper will do. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Chris
  9. Hi All. After a couple of hours of reading through the Head-Fi section here on SNA, I may have narrowed down to what I could be after. My preferred budget is $300 - $500 Max. These are the candidates: - B&W's P7 - AKG Q701 / K702 - HiFiMan HE500 - Sennheiser Momentum Over-Ear - NAD Viso + Up to any suggestions. In most cases I am unable to test before purchase. Happy to purchase Second Hand or New. No Particular Genre' of music listening. Will be using an iPhone 4 for most of the listening. Possibly also Marantz 1060 Console Amp Headphone section - Advisable ? (Only until I can get together a budget for a Headphone Amp). Currently listening to B&W's P3 Headphones. I am enjoying them too, but after reading all the Praises for B&W's P5 + P7, I am clearly missing out on lots. All thoughts are greatly appreciated. Dek,
  10. Hello SNA members. Yep, downsizing the system.. So headphones and amps are on the agenda!! So I went into Addicted To Audio, and great service. Thank you to the staff. After buzzing around on the forums, I narrowed down the amp and phones to The DT990, T90, and Grado RS2i. instead of tying myself in knots, the Woo WA6 I chose based on reviews.. It seemed to me to give the closest thing to what I liked. First off, DT990's, 600ohm version. Wow. Fed by my crappy seven year old Ipod, it was impressive. Certainly better then the GSP Solo Ultralinear/DT990 300ohms(?) I tested. So much body, detail and clarity. (Mind you it will be fed by my Rega P5/2M Bronze/Musical Surroundings Phenomena II Front End:)) Bjork's "Headphones" off "Post" was great.. Nice and deep, and a lot of texture around her vocals. John Spencer's "Identify" was nice and raw, his voice spitting into the mike:) Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" had effects shooting around the place. I love a bit of sonic fireworks:) So now I fed it some high res files (Don't ask me what player, what sampling rate.. I haven't got a clue. I'm a vinyl man:)) now even more clarity, and of course a less compressed sound. it's as if the sound had freed up a little more, a bigger stage was created. Okey Dokey, switched to the Grados. For about five minutes. No joke! Because a) they were bloody uncomfortable.. I must have strangely shaped ears or something... They're a beautiful looking device, granted, but when highs hit, there was a harshness. On the DT990's they go higher to my ears, but not as harsh. Why did I try the Grados? Well the DT's bass was a little loose, and I heard that the Grados had a nice punchy bass, which they did, at the expense of that harshness:( Disappointing:( I expected much, and maybe they weren't synergistic with that amp. I tried really, really hard not to spend extra, but I felt the urge to try the next tier up. Enter the T90's!! Why do I do this to myself?! This is good. Really good. The bass is PHENOMENAL. So much control, I can hear the midrange detail, feel the rhythm. I found extra detail on "Headphones" the bass felt more organic, and Bjork's voice soared, and the effects ping ponged beautifully. "Dark Side Of The Moon" was wider in the stage and deeper. Mr Spencer was now jumping like a lunatic:) Veruca Salt's "Fly" sounded so broody and went low, really, really low:) but with control, and none of the bloom of the DT990's. I think the phrase "expressive with control" which makes me smile! In fact, the DT990's reminded me of the RX2's I once had. Lovely sounding up top, but bugger all control in the bass. I'm actually thinking of getting some DT990s later as an alternative later. Because they're a lot of fun, but you can't have them all the time. Bit like dating Cameron Diaz.. I think she'd drive me mental after a couple of dates;) I like this headphone lark, great bang for your buck. I chose the T90's with Woo Wa6. The T90's are with me now. My shiny new single ended triode, point to point wired WA6 is on order and will probably arrive in 3 weeks. Poo. Santa, GET MOVING:( In amp/speaker terms, this, to me sounds like a $6000 combo. So a lot cheaper for maximum bang for your buck. Now I can spend more money improving my front end. Love to see what a Fosgate Signature phono pre-amp/Benz Wood/Gyrodec combo would sound like through the T90/WA6:) Or some Groovetracer mods on my Rega with a Benz Glider:) Thanks for reading my rant!
  11. Item: Grado SR80i Headphones (as new) Location: Sydney (eastern suburbs) Price: $100.00 Item Condition: Mint (used for 2 hours max) with original packaging. Reason for selling: I have a OTL headphone amp that needs high impedance phones (the Grados are only 32 Ohms) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD (prefer local pickup) Extra Info: Highly regarded phones! Won the 'Best Headphone Up to 150 pounds' Award for What Hi Fi in 2013! 'Sharply timed, awesomely detailed, musical, natural and – with the right recordings – simply beautiful.' (WHATHIFI review) Bought these new off a fellow SNA'er a few months ago and have barely used them as I bought a valve amp (OTL) that works better with high impedance phones (I bought some 600 Ohm Beyerdynamics). The Grado's sound fantastic out of IPods, computers and standard head amplifiers. Super efficient. Pictures:

  16. Not sure if people heard about this little beauty ! 1st time I heard one of these was some ears ago when I got my sennheiser hd580. was actually in the uk and have been ever wanting to buy one. but its not something ever seen sold locally. well going head over heals over headphones lately ... temptation got the better of me finally. and I went and ordered the latest incarnation of these the Ear Max PRO version from stone audio in the uk. Hand made in Germany and cost a pretty penny along with shipping, customs clearance / tax/duties etc. but in the end here it is ! the first thing that strikes is just how small this thing is. and yet what a stunning looking device it is to behold. Comes across like a hand made bespoke piece of industrial art ! switching on only just adds to the experience.. ahhh... the lovely glow of valves... I took up the recommendation of suggested pairing it with the Grado Reference RS1i and right from first placing the headphones on my ears I must say I am gob smacked. what an incredibly good match ! an incredibly enjoyable sound. Lush warmth, energy, not lacking in top end or bottom end drive and punch. and just renders vocals in such a beautiful manner. I have to say its interesting in an audio journey your going along nice and comfortably having heard a few things, knowing what you like and dont like. comfortable in your choices...and then every so often something comes along and seemingly upturns the whole applecart. something that never seizes to amaze in this world of audio ! anyways a bit of info on both items Ear Max Pro http://www.brocksieper.com/en/earmax_pro_eng.html http://www.tubeampdoctor.com/en/shop_EARMAX_Brocksieper/EARMAX_PRO_Headphone_Amplifier_by_Brocksieper_707 https://www.stoneaudio.co.uk/?product=earmax+pro+valve+headphone+amplifier Grado RS1i http://www.gradolabs.com/page_headphones.php?item=ae1595b5da20749abdc0f2ea66eb593f http://www.addictedtoaudio.com.au/product/grado-labs-rs1i-reference-series-headphones
