Signature Version of B&W 705 S2's Significant Crossover Upgrades Bring A More Refined Sound Bright Metal Accents & Signature Badging All The Best In B&W Audio Engineering In A Stunning, Unique Finish The B&W 705 Signature bookshelf speaker is the new top-of-the-range model that adds a beautiful high gloss Datuk ebony finish as well as substantial crossover upgrades to take this already wonderful sounding speaker to new heights. We look forward to demonstrating these superb new speakers from Bowers & Wilkins. About The B&W 705 Signature Speakers The new 705 Signature and 702 Signature models share a common philosophy with their predecessors: like previous Signatures, the new models are carefully upgraded and lavishly finished loudspeakers that represent the apex of current Bowers & Wilkins design, engineering and manufacturing processes. A huge amount of care and attention has been paid to improving their acoustic performance via an upgraded crossover design, and also to carefully crafting the luxurious new cabinet finish. Launched in 2017, the elegant Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series range of speakers already delivers exceptional performance thanks to its careful use of technologies first seen in the high-end 800 Series Diamond, such as the Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top assembly, unique Continuum cone drivers and Aerofoil profile bass drivers. Used in combination with bespoke 700 Series technologies such as the Carbon Dome tweeter plus carefully optimised and rigid cabinets, the result is a range of loudspeakers as superb to listen to as it is to look at. As Signature products, the new 705 & 702 Signature have received further, detailed improvements enabled by upgraded crossover designs and components. Both models now feature specially treated and upgraded bypass capacitors sourced from Mundorf, larger heatsinking and, in the case of the 702, an upgraded LF capacitor on the bass section of the crossover. In tandem with the immense benefits both models enjoy as a result of their Tweeter-on-Top configuration, these upgrades improve the already-remarkable resolution, openness and spatial retrieval on offer, lending them an even-more polished, refined and involving sound. Upgraded Finish In keeping with established Signature practices, the 705 and 702 Signature boast a stunning new Datuk Gloss ebony-coloured veneer with a distinctive, beautiful grain. This custom-designed finish combines the beauty of exotic real-wood veneers with the environmental benefits of a sustainably-sourced supply, in this case from specialist Italian wood company Alpi. Each pair of speakers is unique, with no two models sharing the same grain pattern or figuring. Bowers & Wilkins adds to Alpi’s painstaking workmanship by applying nine coats of finish – including primer, base coat and lacquer – to create a deep, lustrous appearance. To further accentuate and highlight the quality of finish on each model, both Signature speakers have bright metal trim rings around the mid/bass and midrange cones plus bright, silver- finished, protective tweeter grilles. Finally, both models have a Signature identity plate to their rear panel, helping turn each speaker into a genuine and unique and individual piece. Director of Sales at Bowers & Wilkins Australia, John Martin, said “Like our previous Signature releases, these two special Signature versions of our highly regarded 702 S2 and 705 S2 are destined to become classics. Whether you buy them for their next-level performance or their exotic finish, or both, you’ll be buying something that is unique, exclusive and timeless, to be enjoyed for many years to come”. Technology The 700 Series is an entirely new range of speakers. Compared with the outgoing CM Series, every transducer has changed and radically improved. To do this, B&W have borrowed some of the most advanced technologies from their flagship 800 Series Diamond, adapting them to suit a more attainable price point. And they’ve introduced entirely new technologies, designed specifically for this range. Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top Decoupled Carbon Dome: The Bowers & Wilkins 705 bookshelf loudspeaker houses a 25mm (1") Carbon Dome tweeter that utilises a Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top design for uncompromising high performance sound that will reveal subtle nuances that you've never heard in your music before. Decoupled Carbon Dome Tweeter: The 25mm (1") Decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter is purpose-built for the 700 Series and delivers a dramatic improvement on B&W's aluminum double dome tweeter (found in the 600 Series) by raising the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail. The tweeter is decoupled from the mounting assembly and hardware using synthetic gel to prevent any unwanted vibrations from reaching the tweeter. The result is breathtaking clarity and definition. Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top Design: The Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top design is borrowed from B&W 800 Series Diamond and helps the speaker convey uncanny realism, presence and transparency. Milled from a solid block of aluminum, the solid body tweeter housing design creates an acoustically optimized enclosure for the tweeter that is exceptionally inert and resistant to resonance. The result is a more natural, spacious, and open sound. Continuum Cone Midbass/Midrange Driver: The 705 speaker features a single 165mm (6.5") Continuum cone midbass/midrange driver, borrowed from B&W's 800 Series Diamond. Thanks to its woven-coated material and composite construction, the Continuum cone provides a natural and open sound by avoiding the abrupt transitions in behavior that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit and cause distortion. As a result, voice and instruments are delivered with purity and precision. Flowport Technology: The B&W 705 utilises Flowport Technology to create smooth, deep, and efficient bass response. Its bass reflex enclosure features a rear-firing, dimpled flared port that provides natural bass response without turbulent noise or distortion. If you want to reduce the volume of bass without moving the speaker further from the wall, fit the included foam plug into the rear-firing port for lesser bass response. Acoustically Transparent Magnetic Grille: The Bowers & Wilkins 705 speaker comes with an acoustically transparent magnetic grille cover that's easy to install, looks great, and doesn't get in the way of the sound. Dual Binding Post Terminals: The speaker has two sets of heavy-duty binding posts connected by jumper straps. The binding post terminals will accept bare wire, spade connectors, or single banana plugs. There are plastic inserts that will need to be removed from the binding post terminals in order to use banana plugs. Using the dual binding posts terminals, you can choose to bi-amp or bi-wire the speaker when facing the back of the cabinet, just remember to remove the metal jumper straps first! The top set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the bottom set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers. Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier. Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your amplifiers have identical gain/output to preserve the speaker's voicing balance. Mounting Options: The Bowers & Wilkins 705 speakers can be placed on a set of speaker stands (sold separately - see Accessories Tab for recommendations), a table-top, shelf, or other piece of furniture although we strongly discourage that you use these last two options because the performance will be well below their capabilities. The included self-adhesive rubber feet will reduce but not eliminate unwanted vibration but will protect your furniture from scratches. The rubber feet add approximately 10mm to the overall height of each speaker. The B&W 705 S2 bookshelf speaker should be mounted as close to ear level of the main seated listening position as possible. Moving the speaker further from the walls will generally reduce the volume of bass. Space behind the speakers will also help to create an aural impression of depth. Conversely, moving the speakers closer to the walls will increase the bass. Bring Hollywood Home: Providing the ideal balance of high-performance acoustics and living room-friendly dimensions, 700 Series speakers are a superlative choice for home cinema sound. Pair them with one of the two centre-channel speakers in the range and the powerful DB4S subwoofer, and you’re set for a truly transformational movie experience. 17. Those award winning speakers are in very good condition, only one little mark on top corner hardly noticeable and a minor tear on one grill - see images. They come with all original drivers and both high performance mid woofers have just been professionally repaired - brand new spiders and brand new connections! Everything else is original and perfect - they sound just amazing and the soundstage and details are unbelievable. But don't take my word for it, look for the reviews or have a demo before you buy. They used to sell new for 12k, the next generation Electa Amator III for 16k. What I love about those speakers is how effective the passive radiators are adding amazing low frequencies. I prefer pick up so you can see and hear what you buy but if you organise your own courier then shipping is available too. Here is a review : " The Sonus Faber Electa Amator 2 is astonishingly musical and detailed, bold yet refined. The Amator 2 has a more open nature than the Amator 1 which can be even more of an asset if matched right. The sound is also very natural with total transparency and outstanding resolution, even when playing demanding music. It gives life when listening to every kind of music, and absolutely shine with string instruments, piano as well as vocals. Even more impressive is the peerless conveyance of massed strings of violins, which most expensive speakers fail to deliver. It has deep bass, great control and without distortion. The midrange is rich, palpable and articulate. The higher treble is as clean as a whistle, and do not sound shrill or overly bright but controlled and smooth. The soundstage is wide and deep with excellent 3D imaging. They are transparent across the range, sounding real and not synthetic. The Sonus Faber Electa Amator 2 is an example of excellence in the world of hifi sound reproduction. " Source: listeninn.
  18. Further Information: Selling my Dynaudio Sp40s in grey birch RRP$6000. Beautiful looking speaker and great sounding. Heaps of glowing reviews online. Purchased new from class A audio in VIC approximately 14 months ago. Stands included in price but if not required I can knock a few dollars off but these are already priced to sell. Shipping is included anywhere in Australia at no extra cost. I will also throw in 8 iso acoutic iso-pucks that I used when speakers were on cabinet.
  19. Further Information: Used as desktop speakers for sometime, with some very light scratches consistent with that use (see pics). No longer have a desktop setup, so now sitting in the box collecting dust! Comes in the box, including port foam bungs if you wanted to use them . Tweeters look like they need a light clean/dust but otherwise in great condition.
  20. Further information: These were my first hifi speakers and I really fell in love with them. Amazing value for the price (they were around $1,500 to import brand new at the time). I have paired them with a number of different amps over the years and they have always sounded brilliant. They are quite a large bookshelf speaker, and this results in a very full sound compared to what you might expect from a bookshelf. I have since moved to an active setup (KEF LS50W), so I do not have an amp to test or audition these at my place. They have been in storage for a few years and since I'm unable to provide a guarantee that they are in perfect working condition, I won't be offering these to interstate buyers. If local buyers are willing to leave a deposit I'm happy for you to take them to audition at your place for 24 hours. Always used with the speaker grills on in a non-smoking house. The finish seems to be peeling back a little in some places on one of the speakers, see photos attached. Price is for both speakers.
  21. Item: Wharfedale Delta 30.3 bookshelf speakers - Melbourne Location: Brunswick Price: $50 plus a bottle of red (please) Item Condition: average, but fair for their age. Some scratches on top that don't look nearly as bad in real life. Reason for selling: Surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Caah Extra Info: Remember that sound you heard, possibly in your teens? - That first set of real speakers that you heard in a shop and went wow! These have that feeling, the nostalgia..... Condition wise they are average but they play perfectly. I can't be sure how many owners they have had, but they would happily share the love in someone's garage or second system for plenty of years yet. The grilles are in great shape, just one of the badges is a bit loose and spins around if you let it. Pictures:
  22. Item: ProAc Tablette Reference 8 bookshelf speakers in cherry finish Condition: Very good overall, slight compression of cabinet corners on the bottom rear of one speaker (see last pic) Price: $750 pickup or buyer pays postage ($50 within Australia) Details: Purchased recently to try out in my system, selling to free up some funds. I don't have the original packaging (wasn't provided by previous owner), so pickup is preferred. I will pack and ship interstate however if requested. Auditions welcome, PM me with any questions. 23. Item: Q300 bookshelf speakers Location: Perth Price: 450 Item Condition: excellent Reason for selling: not used Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Relist my pair of Kef Q300, black bookshelf speakers. 2 years old but I rarely use. Pictures:
  24. Item: Rega Rx1 Bookshelf Speakers - Walnut Location: Bentleigh Victoria Price: $1300AUD Item Condition: As-New Reason for selling: Baby on way.. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash preferred. Other means considered. Extra Info: These are brand new not used. I bought and shipped them from the UK when we relocated to Melb in September 2018. I wanted a second set of speakers for maybe a sitting room stereo. Now I need to get rid of them to free up some space and cash. I will post some actual pictures of them, but for now i have just added the ones from the website. Beautiful UK made speakers. As with all rega gear they are top quality. Shame to let them go. They come with these cool snap on snap off magentic covers, as can be seen in the photo with the black ash finish. I have seen these advertised new at carltonaudiovisual for $1799. So I reckon this is a pretty good deal at $1300. If you have any questions or want to inspect, please sing out. https://www.carltonaudiovisual.com.au/rega-rx1-bookshelf-speakers.html http://www.rega.co.uk/rx1-loudspeakers.html The RX-ONE’s can be used on stands, a sturdy shelf or mounted directly on the wall via the RX-ONE wall bracket (sold separately). Imaging and bass response can be tuned by adjusting the distance of the speaker from the rear and side walls. As with all loudspeakers, this will depend on the size of room, flooring and furnishings therefore some simple experiments trying different distances will help optimise the performance to your surroundings.
