  1. Im looking to buy a Stereo Amplifier which also has streamer and network functionality. Eastwood Hifi recommended me the Yamaha R-N800a or R-N1000a. Its a beautiful receiver and sounds great to my ears, but I have a few questions before I pull the trigger:- 1. Anyone had any experience with this unit, thoughts, feedback etc? 2. Can you recommend any comparable alternatives? 3. I have seen online people saying the phone stage is so-so. Is this correct? Once again, any other comparable amps that have a better sounding phone stage? 4. Finally, what medium size speakers (not floor standing) would you recommend to pair with this amp, or a comparable one? Appreciate any assistance and experience. Matt
  2. Further Information: Amplifier was bought from Westcost Hifi in Perth and it's less than 5 month old, like new, best value for money amplifier on the market. Save yourself a good 1000$ off the price! This is proper stereo powerful amplifier that is Audiophile grade, not some cheap 7. a milion channnel crap. It has a good phono stage so you can run your vinyl record player. Pickup in Kingsley. Specs in the last photo.
  3. Hi All Unlock the magic of your CDs with the convenience of a quality DAC with optical, coaxial, pc usb and usb inputs. This is the top of the range Yamaha CD player currently retailing at over $7000. This unit was purchased locally through West Coast hifi in June 2021 as a demo model for $4500. It is built like a tank and has an excellent DAC which makes it a versatile digital hub. It has been well reviewed just look on line. This player is in full working order and only letting it go as I have a new digital front end and feel it is wasted as a transport alone. Sorry for the average pictures. Happy to demo for genuine buyers, but will need to fit in around my chemo treatment. Looking at local sale only as I do not have the box. Comes with excellent remote, user manual and can provide basic XLR cables on pickup. I have original receipt for $4500. p PM if you have any questions Cheers Paul

  8. Further information: Selling the Famous Yamaha GT-2000 (Gigantic and Tremendous) Direct Drive turntable in Black including 3rd party external power supply (Yamaha YOP-1 non original), tortech 240v to 100v converter (these turntables were only released in Japan so only ever 100V) Yamaha YAL-1 (autolifter) - additional feature not usually on this model. Sensitivity can be adjusted to lift at the right spot Original Yamaha YA-39 Tonearm The perspex cover has some light marks on it (I also don't think this is an original lid but fits well), hinged at the back. There is a light scuff where the lid comes down at the front at speed indicator (see 11th photo). Orsonic head shell (currently fitted) plus the original Yamaha head shell (not in photo) The Rubber mat and heavy platter are in great condition. The original lifting tool for the platter is not included. Instead 2 large wing nut bolts of the same thread can be used to safely lift and lower the platter as required. The platter is super heavy and you need these to safely lift and lower the platter. The autolift function works very well (note it doesn't stop the turntable just lifts the arm). There are no issues with the quartz speed lock on 33 and 45 RPM. The rubber isolation feet are in very good condition but show some signs of aging. There is one small mark where the black colour has come the plinth (see photo 1st and last photo to the right of the quartz lock mechanism. This could be painted or colored with black pen. Also included in the list price is the fitted Lyra Delos cartridge (which I will consider removing if someone just wants the turntable). This cartridge was installed and setup by Sonic purity ($2600 RRP new). The cartridge has only around 120 hours on it. This was bought off a fellow stereonetter 2 years ago. I really love this turntable as it brings out a solid bottom end in records played, but I need to consolidate down from 4 turntables and free up money for other purchases. I tend to play my rock records on this turntable and Jazz on the Thales TT. The Yamaha does a great job and comes close to my much more expensive Thales TT with Simplicity Tonearm and ZYX cartridge. I considered putting up both the Yamaha and Thales for sale and seeing which one sells first (and keeping the one that doesn't sell, cause I could be happy with either), but I thought given the price brackets this Yamaha is more likely to sell. So my plan is to consolidate to the Thales and get the Micro seiki BL-51 up and running by putting a good MM cartridge on it. Any feel free to ask for additional photos (e.g. photo of platter, there are a couple of marks on that under the rubber turntable mat). I don't have a box and it isnt easy to send via courier due to weight. So local sale for now. Possibly later in the year (If Sydney/Melb ever come out of lockdown) I could possibly drop off along the Hume Highway e.g. Canberra, Sydney etc Photos:

  12. Further information: Picked these up a little while ago from the original owner. I had the intention of putting them in my lounge room but having a young family means this isn’t really possible. Rather than pack them up for years I’d rather move them on and find something more suitable. A bit conflicted over this because it means I might not ever find another set, but hey that’s life. They’re in very good condition considering the age (we’re talking around 30 years here), some marks and scratches on the cabinets but generally nice. With a serious polish some of the marks might even come out. There’s one very small area (a few mm) on the top of one speaker where the veneer looks ‘lifted’ but it’s very slight. The biggest downside is that the left speaker cover frame is cracked at the bottom, but it holds together and you only notice when you pull it hard or put pressure on it and it pops apart. In general, I’d score them a 7.5/10. Sound is beautiful as you’d expect from this era Yamaha. The soft dome tweeter is lovely. I’m in Brisbane and happy to accommodate a listening session. Can set something up outside if there’s Covid concerns (al fresco?). Will ship at buyers expense (remember though that these are 9.5kg each) Thanks
  13. Hello, I have an old Yamaha CRX-E 100 microsystem that I would like to pair with some decent Yamaha bookshelf speakers, without spending silly money. This was the first new HiFi system that I spent my own hard-earned back in around year 2000, and is good for some 30 Watts per channel into 6 ohms. I sold the original speakers years ago for not much, as I felt they were not quite up to snuff. Acoustics and vocals were rendered fine, but give it some more complex piece (say Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's Mr. Pinstripe Suit) and the presentation started to fall apart. The "obvious" choice would probably be a later version of the NS-10M's but they're pricey in comparison to the relative modest amp/player combo. Or maybe a pair of NS-1000MM? What lesser-known gems are there to be found in Yamaha's line-up over the years? Cheers, Lauri
  14. Further information: Bulk Lot: Yamaha AX-630 Active Servo 85W Integrated Amp (MM and MC Phono Stage) with Yamaha AST-KS1 Active Servo Processing Cartridge, Yamaha AST-S1 Active Servo Bookshelf Speakers, Yamaha P07 Turntable with Ortofon 2M Red cartridge (cart has approx 20 hours usage), Yamaha TX-530 AM\FM Tuner. This is my original system, owned by me from new and is in excellent condition but is no longer being used. Would make a great 2nd system or as a starter. Donation will be made upon sale. Thanks for looking.
  15. I have a Yamaha RX-V1800 which served me well for quite a few years. It was a refurbished unit purchased from a proper hifi store (remember those?) and it never skipped a beat. Early last year I upgraded to a new Denon receiver which at the time I didn't really need, but it was prompted by a very healthy Boxing Day sale discount. So the Yamaha hasn't been getting much use at all. I'd assigned it to my hard of hearing mother for headphone amp duties. Anyway I turned it on today for no particular reason and nothing happened. No clicking sound, no lit up panel etc. I swapped power points and power cables but it made no difference. Obviously I don't want to spend much (if at all) money or time in fixing it, but it's in perfect condition cosmetically and good to have as a second unit around the house and at least it has HDMI and can handle HD audio. And unlike the Denon it has a tuner! From what I've described, is this likely to be a power supply issue or a dead main board? Or impossible to tell with a technician taking a peek?

  19. Further Information: Yamaha A-S701 Integrated Amplifier. This thing is pretty heavy, and built like a tank ! The sound is nice, and very decent especially when running a pair of speakers, or 2 pairs of speakers via a quadrophonic set up - you can make your own surround sound :). Low Power Consumption The WXC-50 consumes less than two watts of power in standby mode, When the power is on, power consumption is still a low 5W, and even when used for long periods, power consumption is environmentally friendly. In addition, the Auto Power Down lets you save energy by having the power automatically turned off after 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours.
