I have a Rega Brio and a Thorens TD320 with an AT VM95ML cartridge. Very nice sound, but sometimes I wonder if a dedicated phono preamp could improve the soundstage and definition. There is a Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 on offer (second hand), what would the difference be? And a second question: if I go back to Cyrus amplification (had one years ago for a long time and loved the sound), what type of phono preamp would fit right in?

I have a Rega P8 that has been running an Apheta 2 for the last 3 years. Freak accident saw a piece of clothing catch the needle l, bending the cantilever and this basically rendering the cartridge dead. I am in the market for a new cartridge and looking for any left field ideas? My default will be an Apheta 3 as I was sublimely happy with the original set up. Some details for those who need them: RB880 tonearm Rega Aria pre VTL IT-85 pre and power Spendor A6s speakers mostly Jazz, mostly piano, quartets and some big band stuff. If not another Apheta, what would people suggest at a similar price point? TIA!

This P3 sings beautifully, it has a very low noise floor, it produces gobs of air and its 3D soundstage is truly amazing. The Series 6 tonearm has a very neutral and true to the source / cartridge presentation, induced resonance at an absolute minimum! The Series 6 arm tube is a composite of multi-layer carbon fibre, aluminium and acetal damping rings, At the headshell end the tube is 0.5mm thick with a diagonal crossweave, This thin section reduces transmission of vibration to a minimum. The rest of the tube thickness is increased to 1.5mm with acetal damping discs bonded in. The c/f tube is clamped into the aluminium arm body over a length of 60mm to make a very rigid joint which damps tube vibrations I'm happy to assist the new owner setup their own cartridge. These photo's simply do not do this turntable justice, at all.

Rega P9 with PSU in excellent condition. Comes with original box. . RB1000 Tonearm with upgraded Cardas Cartridge Clips (better contact and easier to mount cartridge) . Ortofon 2M Black has been utilized 400~500 hours, as told by last owner. I have not use it since then, as I prefer my own cartridges. So, it still has plenty of life left and comes with original box. Further information: Selling my Rega Planar 6 with Exact MM cartridge and NEO PSU. Turntable was purchased from Challenge Hifi in Prospect, SA in February 2020. I am selling due to no longer listening to records, and having recently sold my collection, I do not own any records to play on the turntable. The Planar 6 has been used semi-regularly over the past 18 months and I would estimate between 300-400 hours of usage on the Exact cartridge. I have only played records that have been cleaned prior using a Spin Clean record washer. Washed records were then placed into MoFi inner sleeves, to reduce dust and wear on the stylus. The stylus was always covered using the dust cover when not in use and brushed regularly, records were also brushed before playing. I assume there are many, many more hours of enjoyment left in this cartridge! There are very faint scuff marks on the lid of the turntable, only noticeable under bright light. Otherwise, the turntable and NEO PSU are in excellent, near mint condition cosmetically and functionally. The original packaging, box and owner's manual are included. Further information: This unit was bought as a package during October last year with Rega P8 from West Coast Hi-Fi. I have not used it at all, as I am having my Accession M. I have confirmation email from Synergy Audio that it is warranted with 3 years parts and labour warranty. Since then, I was busy with shifting house and now that I have settled down, it is time for it to be on sale. The only short-for is that I have thrown away the box, so a generic carton box will be used and rest assure that it will be properly done. Write out from Rega website: The Aria is an "all analogue amplifier" with no digital control circuitry. The fully aluminium case screens the internal circuit from any stray RFI signals. The designers have avoided including any superfluous gadgets as they obstruct the signal path and degrade the sound quality. It incorporates many innovative design ideas including a self-adjusting servo control to keep the MC input circuit at its optimum, compensating for any variations in ambient or operating temperature. Both stages have their own separate input sockets and input pre-amplifier circuitry. This enabled us to design bespoke input circuitry for each cartridge type without compromise. Signal switching is performed at high level and low impedance (via relays) ensuring there is no degradation of the signal. MC Stage Design & Features The MC input uses parallel connected, low noise FET's (Field Effect Transistor's) configured as a compound pair. The use of FET transistors ensures there is no bias current flowing in the cartridge coil so as not to upset the delicate magnetic geometry of the cartridge. The MC input has the provision for selecting resistive input loading of 70ohms to 400ohms and capacitive loading of 1000pF to 4200pF. The input sensitivity can be changed by 6dB via the back panel. MM Stage design & features The MM input uses low noise, bipolar input transistors also configured as a compound pair. There are two separate power supplies for each channel and further sub-power supplies for each of the low noise input circuits. Nichicon FG electrolytic capacitors have been used in critical positions throughout the power supplies. Polypropylene capacitors have been used in the signal path and equalization networks. Discrete circuitry is used throughout the signal path ensuring full control of the circuit design.

All original packing materials so posting is all good. I used to have a truckload of LPs of all kinds, but they have been moved on, so I have this TT sitting idle, crying out for a new home. It’s a terrific machine! But vinyl is RIP in this home, it’s sweet silky sounds sacrificed at the alter of a wicked speaker upgrade. I’m happy, but the RP8 is bored. I’ve got the Cardas frequency sweep LP and a Les Davis record mat I’ll throw in for some extra value. If you pick up you can have one of those entry level discwasher record cleaners, too.
