  1. Item: AARON 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Integrated AmpLocation: Redbank Plains, Qld (Brisbane)Price: $800Item Condition: Excellent.Reason for selling: Surplus.Payment Method: Cash, Paypal (+3%) or Bank Deposit (deposit would need to clear before taking the goods)Extra Info: Pickup Only. Not really sure I want to part with this but if it sells, it sells! This integrated amp was thoughtfully improved upon by Decky with the following mods: Replaced the input RCAs Binding posts to Eichmann quality IEC socket with a proper switch Replaced all diodes with MUR 860s Main caps improved to Panasonic TS-UP level and capacitance increased from 40mF to 60mF Added a pair of Panasonic film 0.1uF caps and a pair of bleed resistors Preamp opamps (NE5532) replaced with LM4562s All other electro caps Panasonic FC series All PSU wiring MIL spec teflon wire; signal pure silver in teflon Changed feet These upgrades have been documented by Decky, I would have included the links, but the Stereonet search doesn't seem to be functioning at the moment post upgrade. Note: The amp makes the speakers thump when turned on (from the mains) but both Decky and the manufacturer have assured me this is perfectly normal. The response I got from the manufacturer as follows: 'If you connect the amplifier to the mains, there will be a "plop-noise". Because of sound-quality reasons, your amplifier is not equipped with relays on the output-stage.' If the amp is left on standby this doesn't happen, only when turned on from the mains. The manufacturer also advises in their documentation that the amp is designed to be left on. These amps sold for around AU $3300 and the optional remote $200 (which weighs like a brick!). 4. http://www.stereo.net.au/news/cayins-feature-packed-cs-55a-integrated-amplifier Hi Everyone, I am looking for an integrated amplifier with a phone stage and headphone. I am not necessarily after a tube amp but it will look good with my old radiogram cabinet. My first use for the amp will be using it as a pre amp with a Sanders ESL power amp and some Martin Logan's Montis. The next use for it will be as an integrated amp for watching TV and playing music from the network with a set of Audio Physic Yara monitors. The final use for it will be a second setup with an entry level turntable driving a pair of Audio Physics Tempo speakers. The unit having a DAC isn't a must have but quite a "nice to have" since I already have a good quality DAC. I am after a unit that I can move around until I have everything complete to create a second setup for easy listening and background music for the living room. This unit ticks many boxes and desires but I am not familiar with the brand or tube amplifiers and like to hear your opinion.
  5. Had an Onkyo A-8500 integrated amplifier for a while now. Bought a multimeter yesterday to test my Sony power amp http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php/topic/107489-sony-ta-n330es-power-amp-yet-another-do-i-need-a-pre-amp-thread/ Now want to test the idle current on the Onkyo. Service manual states: I have found the following on the board: I don't know what VCT, E, or IID mean. How exactly do I test the voltage at test point VCTIID with a multimeter? Thanks!
  6. Hi all, I am after an Almarro A318B or a Line Magnetic Integrated (300B or 845) Something with a cage is most desirable as I have a curious 4 year old. Prefer used. Thanks.
  7. Hey guys, Im looking for an Arcam A19 amplifier, or if you something similar (rega brio, rotel etc) you are selling please let me know. Cheers Chris
  8. Hello friends. Having recently rediscovered Naim after a 15 year break from hearing them, it's time to see if I can actually afford any. If you happen to be selling your amplifier, either integrated or pre-power I'd love to hear from you. It turns out they really do sound good with Epos speakers, so I'm thrilled. Thanks, Richard, Melbourne
  9. I’ve been powering some KEF LS50s with a hybrid integrated amp for a year or so now and have been generally happy with the combination. Unfortunately the amp passed away recently so I’m looking for a replacement. I’ve been using a vintage Hitachi (20 WPC) to keep the music flowing while I find a replacement and have been surprised at how the KEFs have enjoyed the vintage sound. This started me looking at something like a refurbished Sansui 717 which I haven’t ruled out (thanks for your help @pete_mac). At the other end of the spectrum I’ve always been interested in the Wyred 4 Sounds STI-500. While I’ve been uncertain about the Class D thing generally, admittedly without any experience or technical understanding, I like almost everything I’ve read on how the amp apparently performs. One concern is that the combination may be too revealing. The other is the KEFs are low efficiency (85 dB) with minimum impedance of 3.2 ohms so seem to prefer amplication with a decent amount of current - I don't really understand where Class D fits in terms of power (current) vs power (output). Here are a couple of review links: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue48/wyred.htm http://www.stereotimes.com/amp020910.shtml http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/wyred3/sti.html Does anyone have any experience with W4S integrated amps (or other comparable Class D amps) they can share. If anyone in the Gold Coast / Brisbane / F North NSW area has one I could listen to that would be even better. All opinions / recommendations welcome. I listen to 60 / 40 split of flac files and vinyl. Digital via SBT (Teddy PSU) > Synchromesh > Teddydac. I’d be looking at a new phono stage < $1,000 so options open here. Room is 7 x 8 m open living and I listen at low - moderate volumes. Thanks Adam

  11. http://schiit.com/products/ragnarok Only launched a few weeks ago, but looks very interesting. Combination class AB integrated amp and class A headphone amp. No phono stage that I can see, but they also sell their Mani phono stage for $129US. The Ragnarok is a damn fine looking piece of kit too: Also good to see that Schiit haven't lost their trademark sense of humour. From the FAQ tab:
  12. Some may have seen this new (2nd hand) purchase I made in the "vintage audio" topic. Here I intend to look into the Sony TA-700ES in greater detail and also compare it to another couple of excellent integrated amps I have, the 40w quasimodo (Cafad has recently reviewed) and my 150w diy honey badger(info on diyaudio forums) I made a few years back. First some pics. Recent purchase from Germany (ebay) They seems to have lots of excellent old sony products over there. Amp is in great condition for it's age. Just a few minor scratches that are hardly noticeable. I have not cleaned the amp. What you see is how it has arrived. Being an ES series sony has used excellent parts. Starting with gold inputs for phono and cd input. Here you have a new Australian plugtop installed to replace the German type. Das nice. Tops off. This is very clean inside with a very low amount of dust inside. This was obviously kept in a nice clean environment during its lifetime. The techier guys(and non techies) should appreciate the great Sony ES engineering inside this beast. Large Sony EI transformer, green Nichicon Muse capacitors, some Elna Silmics(or cerafine, not sure which) in there as well. Big ass power caps 2x 12000uf and 2x 4700uf Great supply brand. Sony has used some quality components here these are showing no signs of stress, no bulging tops or anything. This particular transformer in this amp has 240v connections on it so it was swapped from Germanys 220v to our 240v tap (top left red and purple wires swapped). Good Quality large annodised cast heatsink (unlike a lot of amps of this time that use an L piece of aluminium with fins formed by scrapping them out of that L piece, like NAD) Large power supply caps with bits of foam on top. What's the foam for you say. Well a perspex top sits on the foam mechanically fixing the caps to stop micro vibrations or microphonics if your a valve man(just part of that sony engineering here). If anyone has info on who made the "Great supply caps" that would be great? A couple of quality Elna caps here and many green Nichicon Muse caps in the mix. Pic from The Vintage Org. How it looked when new. Sony's first amp series to have its "Gibraltar Chassis" made from polyester, calcium and carbon to reduce chassis vibrations. (insane). This thing comes in at 18.3Kg. 2 x 110w continuous Rms into 8 ohms (0.004% THD). 2 x 145w continuous rms into 4 ohms (0.008% THD) 20-20k both chanels driven. Impressive specs. Simon
  13. Hi everyone. Does anyone have any Naim integrated that they wouldn't mind lending with the intention of selling it? I have almost given up trying to find a Creek amp, and trying Naim seems like a good idea with my Epos speakers. Happy to lend a Cyrus amp if you fancy a taste of something else? Cheers
  14. Item: Red Wine Audio Signature 57 integrated amplifier (walnut finish) Location: Clayton, VIC Price: $2800 plus shipping $2600 plus shipping (RRP = $4000) Item Condition: Mint Reason for selling: Can't quite match it with my (vastly more expensive) Pass Labs amp. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, PayPal. Details: The Signature 57 is RWA's newest amplifier; incorporating two Liliana power amp modules into one (very beautiful) case. At 57wpc into 8 ohms (115wpc into 4 ohms and stable into 2 ohms), it provides more power for those who love the RWA sound but have inefficient speakers that can't be driven by the smaller Signature 16. Like all RWA amps, the Signature 57 is battery-powered and can be set to run completely off-grid, negating the need for expensive power cables/filters/conditioners. Say hello to low noise floor! A full charge will see you through approximately 12-18 hours; the amp can also run while charging from the provided A/C adapter. I purchased the amp directly from Audio Addiction as an ex-demo unit; it is the same one that our very own John Darko reviewed (link below). It comes with a full warranty that is transferable to subsequent owners. The amp is in absolutely mint condition, with not a scratch on it. This particular unit is the standard configuration, but can be sent back to RWA to add extra modules such as a DAC, phono stage or headphone jack. RWA have also recently released a new dual-mono tube input stage that can be retro-fitted; all the details are on their website linked below. The amp will come in the original shipping box with the aluminium remote (a thing of beauty), A/C charger and manual. Pickup from Clayton, SE suburbs or buyer pays shipping within Australia. Demos and inspections are welcome; PM me to arrange. The RRP on these is $4000, so grab yourself the very first second-hand unit on the market, in mint condition, for a fraction of the cost. Review: http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2013/12/red-wine-audio-signature-57-integrated-amplifier-review/ More info: http://redwineaudio.com/components/signature-57 Pics: This is the most beautiful amplifier I've ever laid eyes on.
  15. I recently acquired a Marantz PM11S1 integrated and have been running it with my ProAc Response 3.5 in the main system. I wanted to try a sleek integrated solution with high WAF. Evidently the silver Marantz has higher WAF than the black Acurus DIA100. First impression was of a sound reminiscent of the Primare i30. Clean and inoffensive but lacking the valve sound (colouration) of the Tempest. That is a statement of my personal preference - not a judgement! I decided to bi-wire using the amplifier's second pair of speaker posts. Simply select Speakers A + B and away you go. What A Difference! The mids and highs are indistinguishable from my Tablette Reference 8 (my personal benchmark) but bass is significantly tighter. Everything sounds more defined. This is at odds with my last attempt at bi-wiring which resulted in no discernible change in sound. I had given up on bi-wiring after that episode. The same speaker cables are being utilised as per the past experiment. http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/23237-biwiring-question/?hl=bi-wire Currently listening to Goldfrapp and it is just beautiful. I intend to work through a broad selection of my music library covering a wide spectrum of genres. I am really enjoying the PM11S1. Not much is going to get done today...
  16. Hi there, I've been a fan of vintage audio for years (currently on a Marantz 1152dc intergrated amp), but ive reached a stage where i want to invest in something new. Im keen to try a tube amp and to preserve the vintage look - so I have been looking at Luxman and Leban Integrated amplifiers. I've ruled out Leban, so... Anyone have experiences good/bad with the Luxman SQ-38u? Really appreciate your thoughts. Cheers, --Abby
  17. Item: Accuphase E460 integrated amplifier with AD-20 phono board Location: Sydney Price: $6900.00 Item Condition: As new Reason for selling: Saving up for a good turntable Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal + 3%, COD Only Extra Info: Up for sale is my Accuphase E460 with optional AD-20 phono board, bought it new from Sydney Accuphase reseller about a year ago, they retail for about $10010.00 with the phono board, it came with 5 years Australia warranty (4 years remain), it's my second system so it's never been worked hard, there is not short of reviews and data sheets on net, I have the original manual, remote control and packaging, so shipping interstate is not a problem, but i do prefer local pickup with payment, the amp is unmark in every way, just expect like buying a new open box stock, I will provide a copy of tax invoice for warranty purpose. Feel free to ask questions that you may have. I enclosed a link so you can have more information about this beautiful amp. http://www.accuphase.com/model/e-460.html Pictures:

  20. Item: Rotel RA-1520 Integrated Amplifier Location: 3130, VIC Price: Sale pending...$500 + Shipping Item Condition: Excellent, owned since new. Reason for selling: Move to a slightly different direction (tubes) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Deposit Extra Info: I've had this amplifier since new and it has served me really well. It comes with original box and packaging, as well as the remote. I have a soft spot for this amp, as I've grown accustom to its sound. What Hi-Fi gave this amp 5 stars. It produces a solid sound, with a fairly wide soundstage and puts the listener in the middle of a concert hall. It has driven speakers from Usher to B&W to PMC without any complaint. I think its best partner will be speakers on the warmer side of neutral.
  21. Hi Guys. I'd prefer not to abuse any prospective relationship with a retailer by home demo'ing something I have no intention of buying new. I'm a retailer and hate it when customers use us for "showrooming" I'd love to hear an Arcam FMJ series integrated in my own system. I'm finding my Peachtree Nova125 a bit too warm. Anybody got anything they could loan out in Melbourne for a few days or even just for an arvo playing around with my 2ch or HT systems.? Even better if you'd consider selling. This is about finding out how the "family sound" works with my slightly warm Whatmough speakers. I want to hunt down a FMJ series with dual speaker outputs but not required for the actual home demo. I'm in the eastern suburbs. Lets call it somewhere between A1 Audio and Audio Trends

  24. My Stereo equipment is aged, and the amplifier has at last been put out to pasture, wel,l in the bin actually, so I have to get a new one. Finances are limited, and I really do not want to spend more than $1000 for the amplifier, preferrrably less. I hope to be able to keep my turntable, Pioneer, PL-335, F 201 tuner, PD-S501 CD player, and the B&W 2003 speakers. It's all 20 years old. The must have for the amp then is enough power for the 4 Ohm speakers, and phono, CD, Tape, Tuner inputs. My music of choice is Baroque mainly, but I have opera, classical, organ, and hearing what it is at my age I'm not at all sure that a high quality amp and speakers are required.I hear the low sounds but lose some of the top notes, I probably really mean lots of the top notes. My old amp was a Pioneer A-501R, which had more than enough power so that I never had the volume control more than half way I suppose, mostly less I think. My list now is Marantz PM 6005 Pioneer A-30( which I have been told is an A/B amp, I have no idea as to the class of any of the others.) Arcam fmj 19 ( bit more than I want to spend Denon PMA 720 AE Yamaha A-S500, A-S700. Onkyo A 9050 Marantz and Onkyo have optical/digital input which could he helpful later when the TV and stereo are in the same room, but at the moment they are separated in two rooms. I'm not sure how I am going to be able to listen to them all, and probably only a couple of them with my speakers. But any comments, recommendations, suggestions, must have in the list would be appreciated. I have read the addicts guide too. I have an aversion to buying used as I would have no idea as to what I was getting.
