  1. Item: FS: Radford STA25 Stereo Tube Power Amp. Location: Geelong, Vic. Price: $3200 (reduced) Firm! Item Condition: Excellent to mint. Reason for selling: Downsizing & TT upgrade. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash. Extra Info: Up for grabs is one of my cherished Radford's. My reason for selling? I already have the MA25 monoblocks (not for sale) and another STA25 project, but probably more to the point, I have just upgraded my turntable and rationalising as a result. This amplifier is in beautiful cosmetic condition. You will not find better. With it's robust transformers and design, the amplifer can run a deceptive and surprising host of speakers. A great partner for any classic pair of Tannoy's, Spendor's (BC1's etc.), Yamaha NS1000's, QUAD ESL-57's and even the infamously inefficient STAX ELS-F81's @ 73 dB! The amp is fully operational and is the best sounding STA25 I have come across. I had my tech inspect and service it no more than 4-5 months ago and is in tip top shape. Original PCB's are intact and are as they should be. These amps are practically non-existent in Australia. A great and rare chance to grab a legendary, classic amplifier. Photos:
  2. Item: Accuphase A70 Location: Sydney, Northern Beaches Price: $12K $10,500 FIRM + Shipping + Fees Item Condition: 9/10 - Out of the box, into my rack (think Billy Ocean - get out of my dreams and into my car) Reason for selling: Change of Direction Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: An heirloom piece, an amplifier that will outlive you, and be relevant as it is today in 10 years time. Its a special piece and something I've held off listing. Truth be told I'm happy to hang on to it (not a phrase I use often). The Accuphase A70 is everything a class A Stereo Amplifier should be: Musical, resolving, PRAT for days. However it's also everything a class A amplifier shouldn't be - you won't be able to cook a full english on it, warm to touch, not hot. As is the way with Accuphase the quoted specs are under-rated. Some have suggested that you can double the numbers in the Accuphase literature. I've loved this piece but as with all things. I'm looking at other options for my TAD CR-1's. The TAD's aren't the easiest speakers in the world for an amplifier to live with. This amplifier did it with aplomb. Nuanced, romantic, yet incredibly resolving. This is a 230v iteration from Hong Kong. Comes with all the factory packaging. I took delivery of the unit in late 2018. Photos:
  3. Item: Lenard Audio Sarabandes - Active 4-way Floorstanders Location: Ipswich QLD Price: $1750 Item Condition: Pretty good Reason for selling: Just not doing it for me Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought these to give active speakers a go and a somewhat more sensible sized speaker for my room. In the end these aren't the speakers for me and I feel I am wasting my already acquired amplification using these. From what I understand these are an earlier model Sarabande using Vifa and Peerless drivers along with a custom ribbon tweeter. These are 4-ways with two 12inch cavity loaded bass drivers in each cabinet. Each driver has its own gain control so you can dial them to your tastes. A somewhat tedious but rewarding feature for those who love to tweak. I did have an issue with the internal plate amps buzzing through the tweeter but when I swapped out to one of my Krell preamps the noise disappeared, unsure what was the go but it didn't like my first preamp. These have a slight thump when turning off and on but I have been assured this is normal. Condition wise they have a few minor marks but they hide it pretty well given they are a satin black. One little scuff of note where the black paint has come off which is viewable in pictures. The cabling is a bit chaotic in the photos as I had to move everything around to get my power cables to reach each speaker, apologies for the mess. These are a little bigger than the current model Sarabande's at 121cm x 41cm and weight about 35 kg's. I can post these to NSW or VIC for an extra $200 or $250. I will consider an trade for a Dac of equivalent value. Photos:

  8. Item: accuphase a46 relist Location: campsie Price: 5800 now: $4900 Item Condition: fantastic Reason for selling: finally downgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: not much to say really, a beautiful amp that has emotion!! Key word. Emotion sad to see my amp go. But i have now settled with a mid fi system for the time being while i go searching for a house . pretty heavy, doesn't get too hot and sounds very very nice. Be very wary about the 90 watt into 4ohm rating on power. I've had class d amps with 400 watts and this is more powerful . Natural sounding and very very far from clinical. ###$$120 sna donation## i had a buyer for 4500$ offered but I'm simply not going to take it. Thanks Original boxing included Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  10. Item: Set of 4 Wally Isolation feet Location: Melbourne Price: Bought used from Secher Audio in 2009 for $600.00, asking $300.00 OBO shipped (Replacement cost over $1200!) Item Condition: Very good 7.5/10 Reason for selling: Surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Up for sale is this rare set of (4) Wally feet. Wally feet were designed by a very reclusive guy, Wally Neumann who took the basis of flagship Harmonix tuning feet, and improved them with a constrained layer design comprised of exotic materials including ebony. For the tweak freaks out there, you can turn the feet over to the other side to get a slightly different tone. There is black felt material on one side and green felt material on the other to denote the different sides. I haven't experimented with this feature, but according to George Secher there is a subtle difference. These are 'absorbtion' type feet which are designed to absorb vibration through constrained layer technology then release the energy as heat. I had great success using the Wallys under my dac & cd player, as well as under a power conditioner. To read more about the basic design principle of Wally feet, you can read about Harmonix tuning feet on the Combak/Harmonix website. Harmonix are probably best known for providing the isolation for the legendary Reimyo CDP-777 & more recent CDT-777. The equivalent Harmonix feet are the TU-666ZX which were quite a bit more expensive and retailed for over $1200.00US for a set of 4! Unlike most metallic feet, Wally feet add a touch of warmth. I recall when I bought them, they were by far the best isolation feet George had in the store at the time (which included Aurios Pro Max and a few others). I also recall George saying Wally felt his feet sounded better than the Harmonix feet. In gold and black, they look as good as they sound for sure! Wally feet have been out of production for many years and very rarely come up for sale. Condition wise, the feet show normal wear for their age incl: a few minor nicks. There is a minor crack in the Ebony wood on one foot which I've tried to show in the photos that is only noticeable on close inspection & doesn't affect the performance of the foot at all. The outer gold rings are immaculate. Overall, the feet are in very good condition and have been well cared for since purchase. A note about shipping: I will ship these items via Australia Post Express Post with Signature on delivery anywhere in Australia. They will be packed in a suitable size box with ample bubble wrap to ensure a safe journey, or I can knock $20 off for local pickup. I will also make a 2% donation to SNA on completion of the sale. Will consider reasonable offers in the ballpark. Here is your chance to pick up some true collectors items! Any questions, just ask.

  14. Item: Pioneer S1-EX Floor Standers Location: Sydney, Northern Beaches Price: DROP FROM $9K to $8K to $7K ONO + Shipping + Fees Item Condition: 8/10 - See description below Reason for selling: Change of circumstances Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This hurts....Price now dropped to $7K, open to trades, cash + trade, offers. Come at me - worst I can say is no. I loathe selling these speakers. However, life is all about compromises. I recently acquired a pair of TAD Compact Reference Monitors and part of that deal meant coming to an agreement with my wife that these speakers wouldn't grace our lounge room. There's a part of me that's hopeful that they won't sell as I'll move them upstairs to another room in the house. If you're in the market for a speaker at this price-point and not familiar with the lineage of Pioneer's EX range then do yourself a favor and read up on what is undoubtedly one of high-end audio's best-kept secrets. Designed under the guidance of Andrew Jones when he was at TAD the S1-EX sits alongside the likes of B&W's 802 Diamond, Monitor Audio Platinum 300's, Sonus Faber Amati Homage, and other top tier offerings from the likes of Dynaudio, and Magico. I had this particular pair shipped from Japan. That in itself was quite a stressful process, one I wouldn't recommend anyone else explore, at least not the way I went about it. Upon receiving the speakers I transported my electronics from my place to my parents place (where the speakers were initially delivered, and are still located) to make sure they worked as they should. I didn't move from the listening position for the next hours. The sound was INCREDIBLE. There are simply not enough adjectives in the English language to convey the musicality and resolution I heard that night. The combination of a TAD inspired Berrylium tweeter and Magnesium coaxial driver, coupled with Andrew Jones' speaker design genius resulted in a speaker that is both emotive and technically brilliant. Each speaker weighs 66 kg's and at a tick under 1.3M aren't inconspicuous. However, their physicality is symbolic of their musicality, which is to say this is a statement piece in both sound and image. The speakers present extremely well. The original Japanese auction listing these speakers appear to have been purchased from talks to some hairline scratches on the veneer. If they are there I can't see them. Prospective buyers would need to arrange their own transport, including picking the speakers up from their location in Sydney. They are incredibly heavy. I won't say anything more other than point you in the direction of the Stereophile Review for the S-1EX: https://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/307piosex/index.html An interesting comparison of the S-1EX, Monitor Audio Platinum 300 series, Sonus Faber Amati Homage: https://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=speakers&m=321776 Pictures: Apologies about the quality of the picture. As the speakers are at my parent's place I haven't had a chance to take as many as I usually do for my listings. Happy to provide more detailed pictures for serious prospective buyers.

Its rated at 40 watts Pure class A and punches way above that for power. Its intergrated amplifier but can be used a power amp if you want to use your preamplifier due to the design. It uses a output transformers Pikatron one of the best in the business. By popular request of the AudioValve Fan Community, AudioValve proudly presents a succession model within the Assistent series, the Assistent 30. Several reports around the globe document time and time again the excellent sound performance of the sophisticated construction of previous Assistent series. We have to thank you, dear fan community, it is owed to your loyalty to the product that we at AudioValve did not avoid expenses nor troubles to develop a new unit based on the trusted basics, which allows for your demand for “more performance and comfort” One of the original features of the Audio Valve products is to be found in the utilisation of the valves in such a way that they operate as closely as possible to their ideal reference values each according to its type. One recalls, for instance, the output pentode-triode PCL 805 and most particularly the small beam tetrode with a common cathode QQE 3/12. This valve with a noval (nine pin) base was manufactured formerly by Valvo, Philips and Telefunken and SIEMENS etc. (the latter was used in our test amplifier) It has a per plate power dissipation of 7,5 W and may be used with plate voltages ranging from 200 to 300 V. This valve, according to Helmut Becker, is ideally adapted to be integrated in a circuit which includes another very innovative concept, an automatically operating grid bias control, refered to as “ABR” and used to great advantage in the integrated amplifier Assistent – 30. The amplifying circuit uses 12 valves, but the push-pull output stages are coupled to the specail unique ABR circuit for each power tube. This exclusive AudioValve feature, allows a comparison of the reference voltage value with that engendered by the quiescent current and which appears at the terminals of a small value resistance in the return cathode circuit. A small operation amplifier monitors, as comparator, the divergence and deliverers the compensation voltage to the grid of the valve. Each valve, young or old, reaching reference values or not is thus compensated in its Grid bias to operate at a value which corresponds to its optimal quiescent currant. A red shinning LED diode, at the foot of each value lights up preventing the use of inadequate or defect valves. For each channel the input stage and driver stage are served by an almost known noval valve, the double triode ECC 82 and ECC83. The classical chassis has been set into a caisson (a case-like frame). The valves sit in their sockets mounted on a double side printed circuit board. Little columns support the glass cover preventing dangerous hand contact burns or electric shocks could ensue conforming to the CE requirements. The cooling is achieved through the rearsides and topglas. The minimal controls mounted at the front consist of and a volume control the two channels and input selector being coupled in their operation by a remote control. At the back are the cinch input sockets, two pairs of output terminals and the main connector with the main power fuse. Just like before, today power tubes type QQE are employed, but now 8 tubes – four per channel, developing full minimum 2 x 40 Watts, reflecting a sound transparency that was and still is proverbial for this series. True to the slogan: “Once Assistent – always Assistent.” techn. facts Push-Pull 2 * 40W Sound, Stereo Tube Integrated Amplifier Pure Class A operation – high precisition full automatic bias adjustment NOS SIEMENS germany military high grade power tubes 8 pcs. 25. Item: Gieseler Groß DAC (USB Only) Location: South Yarra, Melbourne Price: $1425 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Bought (the TOTL) Gieseler Fein II DAC Payment Method: Cash, Bank Transfer, PayPal Extra Info: Arguably difficult to find a better DAC without spending a lot more! A few months ago I impulse purchased Clay's new TOTL DAC, so my Groß DAC is available for sale. There has been a lot written by owners here of Gieseler's DAC's, the full list being here: https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/126626-gieseler-dac-reviews-impressions/). But just to give you a sample of what people have said about the Groß DAC: From Max Headroom: https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/246058-ps-audio-vs-devialet/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-3899124 "At the other extreme is the Geiseler GroB DAC. I don't think I can find the words to explain how insanely good it is. @scumbag what system did you listen to the DS Jr and Geiseler GroB in? Did you say you couldn't tell a difference between the DirectStream and the Geiseler? Because the difference was so obvious to me and so dramatic its unbelievable. The Gieseler created more lifelike images of instruments and musicians, almost as if they're standing infront of you, better separation between instruments, better clarity with complex music. It's just a bargain at the asking price." From Rosco8: https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/232237-gieseler-groß-dac-official-release/page/19/?tab=comments#comment-3872685 "A new Grob owner. It replaced a Cayin DAC (Valve/SS), and I also have an ARCAM-II DAC II, both quite good DACS, at least to my listening. Very pleased with the Grob .. been running a couple of weeks now, great detail and I can hear little nuances in recordings I haven't heard before. I listen to quite a range of material, from Tidal and FLACs I have rendered from my CD's. Beautiful rendering of vocals, good separation and detail." That's right - a 2.3k or so DAC takes out, and make no mistake about it, the difference is not subtle, the much much more expensive Direct Stream with the latest software etc (I think its about $8k or so here in Aus)." Better bass control, improved clarity, extremely musical and a natural tone that is engaging and enjoyable to listen to for hours on end with all genres of music." Adding my own 2 cents to the commentary, when I upgraded to the Groß from an iFi iDSD Micro, my impression was how much 'more natural' or less digital the sound was from the Groß while detail retrieval was more extended at both ends. Needless to say that the Groß DAC is a truly excellent DAC and amongst the best Australian designed and made DACs available. The unit I am selling has been 'babied' since it was purchased in November 2017 and had it's firmware chip and software updated in March 2018. The internal are set for XLR output but can be configured for RCA output (to resolve ground loop/hum issues). Included are the main DAC body, standard power supply, remote control (which never left it's packaging), and I can provide the user manual given to me and invoice of the purchase (PDF). Pickup is available in South Yarra, Melbourne and I am able to post Australia wide at your expense. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions you may have.
