  10. Not free - but open to offers... I've owned this lovely NAD M5 CD/SACD player for the last 3 years am original owner and bought from Audio Trends locally. its a player from the master series which is their flag ship range and had a rrp of $2,500 3 years ago. this thing is SOLID. weights quite a bit and immaculate in appearance. more info from the NAD site, http://nadelectronics.com/products/masters-series/M5-CD-SACD-Player It still works perfectly on its line level RCA analog outs. but recently noticed its right channel balanced XLR output was a bit down. I have had this into JLS electronics which is the local authorised nad repairer and it turns out it needs a $400 part and another $200 in labour to have that replaced. I have decided that probably time to move on especially since its probably a touch of a waste in my bed room setup ! its a lovely player none the less and works perfectly in every other regard. so am hoping this might be a real bargain for someone whom wants that NAD warmth in a CD/SACD player and doesnt necessarily want to use balanced outs as its perfect in every other way. It comes with original box, manual, remote etc and will provide report from JLS so can go ahead with repairs if considering using the XLRs. Am totally open to offers. just drop me a line. and I will consider. If in melbourne am happy to demo to show you over L&R line level RCA outputs it works perfectly shipping can be arranged but because of the bulk and weight of it is likely to be pretty expensive to ship. but can do so at buyers expense. so yeah make me an offer via pm

  13. Item: RWA Signature 15 integrated amp. Condition: Great. One very small circular mark on the top of case (see photos) Price: $980 pickup or buyer pays shipping Reason for selling: I thought I'd try it in my system with the Isabellina HPA DAC that I've been running. They're a great match but in the end I preferred my current amps. Details: The amp was purchased from Audiogon and shipped from the USA. For those who don't know, these are battery powered and thus run off-grid. It's a great way to eliminate power line noise and other interference; resulting in an eerily quiet background. It comes with the included 115/240V universal charger; you'll get about 6 hours in between full charges. It can also run while charging - so you don't ever have downtime. It's as realistic as I've ever heard an amplifier sound; uncannily so. Tonallity is excellent, similar to the NAKSA 100 in some ways but without the warmth and humidity in the midrange. This thing is crystal clean and transparent. Bass is suprisingly solid for such a low-powered amp (15wpc into 8 ohms and 30wpc into 4 ohms). The unit has 3 line inputs, selectable via the front knob. Underneath the speaker binding posts are a set of pre-outs. The original remote is also included, as is an alternative tube (Miniwatt - worth $100). The amp will come packed in its original box, along with all accessories and the manual. Price is for pickup from Clayton or Southbank; postage within Australia shouldn't be more than $40. Auditions are welcome, PM me with any questions. 14. Item: ProAc Tablette Reference 8 bookshelf speakers in cherry finish Condition: Very good overall, slight compression of cabinet corners on the bottom rear of one speaker (see last pic) Price: $750 pickup or buyer pays postage ($50 within Australia) Details: Purchased recently to try out in my system, selling to free up some funds. I don't have the original packaging (wasn't provided by previous owner), so pickup is preferred. I will pack and ship interstate however if requested. Auditions welcome, PM me with any questions. 15. Upgrade urge is biting far earlier than expected so I'm seeing if I can find a new home for this A/V preamp-processor only purchased new 3 months ago. If no buyers then I'll live happily with it but ........ I have an HDMI splitter which effectively brings the HDMI inputs up to 7 which I'll add for an extra $30 (cost me over $60). Freight is included in the $1249 price. Note this is a preamp-processor which requires amplifiers. The manual is not as well organised as this review says but it is comprehensive. http://www.hometheat...-1575-amplifier Here are the specs: Codecs: DD, DD-EX, DTS, DTS-ES, DTS 96/24, DTS ES 96/24, 192k LCPM, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio MFR Audio Frequency Response: 10 Hz - 120 kHz, ± 3 dB (Analog Bypass) MFR Audio Frequency Response: 10 Hz – 95 kHz, ± 3 dB (Digital Input) MFR Video Frequency Response: 3 Hz - 10 MHz, ± 3 dB (Composite and S-Video) MFR Video Frequency Response: 3 Hz – 100 MHz, ± 3 dB (Component Video) Audio Inputs: 3 Coaxial, 4 Optical, 8 Analog Stereo, 1 Analog Multi-channel (7.1 with Bass Management) Video Inputs: 4 HDMI (ver. 1.3) 3 Component, 3 Composite, 3 S-Video Audio Outputs: 1 Coaxial, 1 Optical, 3 Analog Stereo Video Outputs: 1 HDMI, 1 Component, 3 Composite, 3 S-Video Pre-Outs: 10 at 1v (Dual Center Outputs, Dual Subwoofer Outputs) RS232 Port 4 independent Zones Dimensions: 5.625" H x 17.0" W x 13.25" D Weight: 22 Pounds Thanks for reading this. 18. I am selling a pair of Opera Audio Cyber 800 mono block power amps. The amps are genuine 240 volt Aust imports built specifically for me through Osborn Loudspeakers. They are around five months old, in absolute mint condition and come with all packaging and accessories. I can post these but they will need to go with a courier as the boxes are quite large and heavy. I can send more pics if you are interested in seeing better images. I have included specs below. These amps dliver 78wpc but still manage to sound like valve amps. I've compared them to a number of amps recently and the cybers have always come out on top. I'd say they'd have around 120 hours on them so really only just running in. Still under warranty. Located in Melbourne. $2000 neg (to a point) http://www.positive-...ra_cyber800.htm http://www.opera-con...0-222_Issue.pdf http://www.opera-con...ussia_page1.htm I suspect that with the Aus dollar dropping the prices of these amps will rise in the near future. Control Functions: Power On/Off Power Output: 78 watt x 2, RMS 1kHz ( Ultra-linear ) Total Harmonic Distortion: less than 1%( 50watt, 1kHz ) Frequency Response: ( -3dB points at 50 watt ) 6Hz-100kHz Input Sensitivity: 700mV Input Impedance: 100k ohms Output Impedance: 4, 8 ohms. 20. Details are at http://www.gumtree.c...970&posted=true The reason for the sale it is no longer being used for CDs, SACDs & DVD-As as all audio only listening is now done on headphones in another room using a Meridian Server system. This improves matromonial harmony with no irate complaints about excessive volume or objections to sharing my weird classical music tastes! But we socialise in the evening with A/V entertainment from the main system with fare mostly from TV recorded on PVRs. The Esoteric UX-1 is a superb hi-end player which I'll be genuinely sad to see leave the home but I must be realistic as it is just sitting on the shelf unused and needs appreciation by someone else. If at all interested drop me an email: j_coulsonATbigpond.com John (trying desperately to have less A/V toys to play with)
  21. Hey all, Due to heading in a different direction with the new dedicated theater room I have a few items for sale. First up is a BRAND NEW Seaton Sound Submersive in black oak finish. This subwoofer needs no introduction, if you haven't heard of it I'd suggest googling it and grab a cup of coffee while you're at it... This still hasn't been taken out of the box since it arrived from the US. According to the Seaton Sound website currently you cannot buy a Submersive with a brand new amp, only with pre-owned amps from US customers who have upgraded to the 2400w amp. The sub I have for sale has a brand new amp, not a pre owned amp. With today's exchange rate it would cost around $3200+ landed here in Oz, by the time you pay all the fees and customs charges. I bought this 10 months ago and as stated still has not been taken out of the box. Price $3000, prefer local pickup (Melbourne) but can post interstate at buyer's cost. Secondly I have 2 x Emotiva XPA3 power amps for sale. Again these are brand new and were going to power a 11.2 speaker setup. Not needed anymore as going to go with a 7.2 setup. Specs can be seen here http://shop.emotiva.com/products/xpa3. Will cost around $1000 landed in Oz at the current exchange rate. Price $900 EACH, will separate. Located in Melbourne and would prefer local pickup (They are bloody heavy!!!) but will ship interstate at buyers expense. If interested PM me, but please no low ballers.... Cheers
  22. Prepare to be blown away with your good fortune as you celebrate tax return time, ladies and gentlemen... Up for grabs are my sublime pair of Bel Canto monoblocks at an almost absurd price. $3,000 for the pair is less than 75% of the RRP for one of them. Like Daniel Craig's James Bond, these monoblocks are authoritative and muscular yet cultured and refined. And also like Daniel Craig, these monoblocks are high on WAF. Their sleek styling is characterised by a small black chassis being aesthetically punctuated by a matt finish solid aluminium faceplate (see photos). A discrete, small blue LED soothing your mood is the only sign these cultured monsters are ready to play, in much the same way a panther’s muscles ripple under skin as it languidly lopes through the jungle. These amps are worthy of being on display, however, should your domestic arrangement be better characterised by the maxim ‘discretion is the better part of valour’, then they can easily be hidden behind your floorstanders. Alternatively they can be mounted in a rack side-by-side. The only clues being a cooler room, better quality sound and a lower power bill. There are some excerpts from reviews and links below, in case you are unfamiliar with these quality monoblocks the key figures are 500watts at 8ohms and 1,000 watts at 4ohms is enough to redefine most people's experience of dynamic contrast. Damping factor is over 1,000. The reason for selling is that I would rather see these amps free ranging across your music collection, breathing fresh life into your enjoyment rather than being confined albeit snugly and safely in their unmarred double boxes (in which they have been since I moved house earlier this year). These monoblocks are ready for a new home and will act as a (tiny) monument to your exceptional discernment, cultivated palate and newly enhanced sex appeal. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by, as a wise one man once said: ‘Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and take a look around sometime, you could miss it. Ooooh yeah... chicka-chickahhh!’ Excerpts: 6 Moons Lunar Eclipse Award: For Tube Reminiscent Density and Exceptional Presence Factor in the Power House Amplifier Category Practically speaking, the Bel Canto e.One REF1000s are wonderful amplifiers. Distinctly non-trophy like, they don't take up a lot of real estate, don't suck silly juice from the local utility company and run so cool that they can be hidden away. When left out in the open, they will impress with understated good looks, not ostentatious glare and you can fit two of these power houses side by side on a single shelf. Yet audiophiles are often anything but practical so these 'uns had better prove themselves in the listening room, too. They do. They easily handle all the basic requirements of a high-end power amplifier. They are smooth and refined. They are transparent to the source in a way that makes them appropriate as listening devices as well as reviewers' tools. They also deliver lots of current and they exude the kind of bold muscularity that you'd expect from amplifiers equipped to deliver 1000 watts into 4 ohms. Additionally, they deliver the tonal saturation you just may have to experience to appreciate. Though I've owned and reviewed a lot of solid-state amplifiers, I've always considered myself a tube guy. That's because it seems that it's always been tubes that truly lit my fire. While solid-state amplifiers did solidly serve their purpose, it's the tube amplifiers that evoked real passion in me. Until I heard Bel Canto's e.One REF1000s, that is. These are very special amplifiers. They are the first pair of solid-state amplifiers to ever truly excite me. By the way, I've also got Bel Canto's S300 stereo amplifier here and it's very good. But that story is Srajan's to tell. In the meantime, I'd give Bel Canto's e.One REF1000 monos two Blue Moon awards if I could - one for the right, one for the left channel. That makes them Lunar Eclipse material [and incidentally, the first-ever such award we've given out for an amplifier since we launched four years ago - Ed.] If you're in the hunt, do not miss out on trying these unique minis. I've just found my new high-power solid-state references. Stereophile: How much of an improvement is the Mk.II over the original Ref1000? In some ways, it's only incremental—both models sound clean, powerful, and neutral. On the other hand, these incremental improvements move the Mk.II beyond the category of "really good for a digital amp" to just plain "really good." The Bel Canto Ref1000 Mk.II can be compared with the cream of the other amps I've had in my system: the Classé CA-3200, Mark Levinson No.433, and Ayre Acoustics V-6xe. Each of these distinguishes itself in different ways, and particularly with different speakers. Because of this, I think I must keep the Bel Canto Ref1000 Mk.IIs as a reference amplifier—an easy decision even when based solely on its sound, but also: in my living room, none of the others can be so easily hidden in plain sight. Positive Feedback, Issue 43: The Bel Canto REF1000 MkIIs are distinctive and expressive amplifiers. Far from having introduced cookie-cutter non-denominational ICE based devices, John Stronczer has imbued these amplifiers with the authority and frequency extension of the 1000ASP powerhouse, combined with a convincing harmonic congruence, and delightful warmth beginning from the lower midrange down-to the mid bass—perhaps reminiscent of SET amplification. Tutti seldom become glassy even on high SPLs, while raggedness is rare. There is seductive warmth in these agile monoblock amps that are filled with life, harmonic refinement, and a rare sense of space and 'being there'. If I have detected some occasional mild unspecificity in the rendering of the mid-low bass region, it is a matter of my own stylistic preference, rather than a flaw in the amps. I suspect that these already significant price performers may rise to even greater heights when driving speakers exhibiting a more linear impedance behavior than my admittedly wild Vienna Mahlers. Do not be deceived by the REF1000 MkIIs' conservative size and weight, or by the trite and obsolete urban legends surrounding class D amplification, which are barely kept alive by a shrinking hyper-nostalgic crowd. There is not a trace of 'digititis' ever to be detected in their excellent performance. Give them a careful audition: you will be excited by their authority, seduced by their agility, and will fall in love with their musicality. 23. I have for sale the ultimate silent home theatre experience you will ever need, really awesome for apartments were noise is an issue. All priced for a quick sale. (You can also add the Crowson transducers for silent subwoofer response, I had them and it was amazing). SVS A8 Realiser - $2000 (Imported from USA it cost me $3500 after taxes.) STAX SR-007 MK1 - $1250 (Street price is $1650, good condition, minor marks) STAX SRM-323s amplifier + Japan voltage transformer 240v - 100v. ($700) SVS A8 Realiser information http://smyth-researc...technology.html http://www.head-fi.o...30#post_9578801 Introduction to SVS and the Smyth Realiser Recorded "surround sound" is typically delivered through five, six, seven or more speakers. The sounds of the real world come to us from an infinity of locations. We readily sense direction in all axes of three-dimensional space, and yet: the human auditory system is two-channel. One route into that system is headphones. The weakness of headphones has been their inability to create a spacious and completely accurate sonic image in three dimensions. Some "virtual surround" processors have made incremental progress in this regard. But there is no reason in principle why headphones cannot provide a sonic experience fully as spacious, precisely localised and vivid as that created by multiple speakers in a real room. Hearing in three dimensions The fact that we can hear direction left and right makes intuitive sense since our ears are on the left and right sides of our heads. How do we hear front and back, up and down? Sounds coming from various directions are altered as they encounter the shape and dimensions of the head and upper torso, and the shape of the outer ear (pinna). Our brains are highly sensitive to these modifications but we do not hear them as tonal alterations; rather we experience them, quite accurately, as localisation up, down, front, back, or in between. This acoustic alteration is called the Head Related Transfer Function or HRTF. Binaural Historically, one type of recording has recognised that two audio channels can recreate a three-dimensional experience. Binaural recordings are made with a single pair of closely-spaced microphones and are intended for headphone listening. Sometimes the microphones are embedded in a dummy head or head/torso to create an HRTF, in which case the sense of three-dimensionality is enhanced. The reproduced sound space can be convincing, though with no reference to the original environment, its accuracy cannot be attested. In any case, these are specialised recordings rarely seen in the commercial catalogue. Instead, for sound beyond left and right, we have...
