  1. Item: Dynaudio Focus 160 Stand-mount/Bookshelf Loudspeakers Location: Adelaide Price: $1600 Item Condition: Very good, drivers and visible cabinet pristine, some marking on bases from stands Reason for selling: Upgraded to Contour S1.4LEs and previously arranged buyer has gone AWOL. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Checkvault Escrow, COD Only, Direct Deposit. Extra Info: I have spent some wonderful listening time with these speakers. They are everything people say they are, and to my ears, compete well with the Kef LS50s for finesse without being without the worry about a bit of bass content damaging the drivers. Dynaudio have a long history of high power driver production and they continue to shine. The tweeters are, well, I tried to explain them to a friend and all I could come up with was "perfect". They have all the charm of the lower tier Esotecs and the old D28II without any of the subtle (?), musical, but ultimately artificial, perhaps even etched sounding "hi-fi" sparkle that those used to have. They're just extremely natural at all playing levels. Certainly they're an upgrade from the Esotec tweeters in the Excite range. I bought these from another SNA member, Mercado1008 and he from another SNA'er - the original ad is here: The bases have some marking from stands - not visible in normal operation and the rest of the cabinets, and most importantly the drivers, are all pristine (no tweeter creases here) and just beautiful in Rosewood, and I think they look much more luxurious than in the gloss black or white - drivers are perfect and they will ship in the original box and packing. Oh, I thought I'd add one comment that was made about the Focus vs Excite crossovers I read which I thought confirmed my listening experience - on the difference between the lines a chap from Dynaudio said: "The capacitors in the Focus are all Solen film type. The Excite are a combination of Bennic electrolytic and BC film. The coils in the Focus are all air core while the Excite will have at least one iron core coil. And the resistors in the Focus are ceramic but they are chosen for their resistance to temperature drift. The ones in the Excite are your basic ceramic types. Hope that helps." So perhaps there is more than just the better tweeter contributing to the audible improvement over the X18 in particular which has the same bass unit? Air cored inductors allow lower distortion playback, especially at higher levels, than iron cored ones which allows them to retain their composure and open soundstage in complex passages. Longevity is also improved capacitor-wise. All good reasons to invest the extra cash in going to the Focus line generally. Dynaudio reps confirm that the bass unit is not the same either between the X18 and the Focus 160. The X18 does however have a "Focus class" with respect to former, voicecoil etc, bass driver - but it's a different unit and not interchangeable. So with different tuning (X18 is midrange centric for better sub integration - Focus 160 is fuller in the bass for better standalone operation), crossover components, cabinet construction and drvers about the only respect that the X18 replaces the Focus 160 is in being about the same size.. and perhaps in a sales pitch toward someone who isn't going to buy from the Confidence series or the older-designed (pre current facelift) Contour series. I did a lot of research in buying these and few people have anything but good things to say about them. Even a Confidence C1 owner said he had fond recollections of them and to go ahead and buy them. High praise indeed.
  2. Item: Dynaudio Sapphire in Ivory Location: WA Price: $8100 plus freight Item Condition: Very Good Reason for selling: Mrs says they have to go Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal( all fees met by buyer), COD Only Extra Info: Dynaudio 30th Anniversary speaker. Owned a lot of Dyns from Masters down to audience and these would rate as one of my absolute favorites. Think C1 Mk2 on steroids with more punch and a more complete speaker than C2 .A striking speaker that sounds divine with the right amp. All accessories and original package included. Pictures: Edit
  3. Item: Dynaudio Focus 380 Location:3072 Price: $3300 Item Condition: Looks 9/10, functionally perfect, there are a few swirl marks etc on the gloss piano black from cleaning and the original owner. Reason for selling:Upgrading Payment Method: Would prefer pickup given they are floor standers - Cash, Paypal (at buyers expense), COD Only Extra Info: Flagship of the Focus range and the only Focus to include Dynaudio's renowned Esotar2 tweeter normally only found in higher end Dyns. Loved having these speakers, fantastic detail and upper frequencies combined with plenty of bottom end to create the tone and musical balance the Focus series is known for. They come in the original packaging including double boxing. The speakers themselves are around 5 years old, I have had them for around 2 of these myself. 4. Did quick search and found this thread from 2014: Kind of answers my query but I'm still a bit confused - if someone here can rephrase it slightly? Basically I picked up an identical twin sub from crap converters for a ree dic you lus sum of money - 90 bucks and no that's not a typo. A Sonique Thunderbox 1200 in far better condition than the one I currently have.... The second sub now sits on the other side of the LH speaker below the waterfall photo. I've daisy chained it from existing one via a 5m RCA interconnect - line out to line in. I think I've managed to blend the two pretty evenly, mucked around with the 0/180 phasing and found it sounds best when both of them are an exact match.....why this is I'm not sure. I set the crossover rolloff fairly low, about 50hz give or take (because I'm sure this isn't an absolute drop off, it's simply the point where the sound starts attenuating). And because I'm now running twins, I've dropped the overall volume on both to compensate. The improvement was immediate. It's simply fattened everything up but not at the expense of sharpness or imaging. Sound simply pours into the room completely free of stress. My question: Is there an alternate way to hook them up? My preamp has dual preouts but one is already fed directly to the power amp, the other is for sub duties. I didn't want to run a Y-splitter from the pre to each sub as it would reduce the impedance each sub receives.
  5. Hi just seeking some wisdom. I have a pair of Dynaudio Audience42 speakers and currently just using a nad t743 receiver to drive them. I have access to a Revox A722 amplifier but I'm wondering if the Revox will have enough power/quality current to drive the dyn's to their full potential. The revox is rated at 2 x 60w into 4ohm with the dyn's being a 4ohm load speaker. The revox is a great amp but i don't want to overload it. Thanks all for your help

  10. Item: Dynaudio Focus 160 Stand-mount/Bookshelf Loudspeakers Location: Adelaide, SA Price: 1650 Item Condition: Excellent - with the caveat of some marking on the bases being present from the stands. Can provide more pictures. Reason for selling: They were bought to evaluate the returns available in moving up the line. Conclusion - well worth it over the similarly sized Excites or BM actives - or even over the Focus 110s if you need more headroom/bandwidth though they are also a lovely speaker also I think, within their limits. Payment Method: Pickup with Cash, Shipping with Paypal, Direct deposit or by Checkvault escrow payment. I've used them as a buyer and they were great. Flat fee of $25 with the only penalty being the extra funds clearance delay of a day or three at www.checkvault.com.au (I have no affiliation of course - just a happy customer.) Extra Info: I have spent some time with these fantastic speakers. They are everything people say they are, and to my ears, compete well with the Kef LS50s for finesse without being without the worry about a bit of bass content damaging the drivers. 11. Item: Dynaudio Excite X12 Standmount Speakers Location: Sth Gold Coast Price: $750 (incl. courier costs to metropolitan areas) Item Condition: Excellent. Can’t find a mark on them. Fine dust on the tweeter caps that is not worth the risk to try and remove. All original packaging, and I have the grills which are in perfect condition. The 2 pack finish looks high quality on the Dyns IMO. Reason for selling: Interested in trying other Dynaudio Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+ any fees), COD Only Extra Info: I purchased these from SNA member @twwen2 who used to author the Addicts Guide to Standmount Speakers thread (or something like that – I couldn’t find it). I believe the X12s were one of twwen2's favourites and pushed him up the Dynaudio line. I can’t recall when I purchased these but guess around 2 years ago? I have really enjoyed the X12s to a point where I am keen to try another Dynaudio model. Here are the specs from Dynaudio, and here is an example review for anyone interested. There is more information around on the X14s (8 Ohm), which I understand were designed to be more market friendly, and the X12s (4 Ohm) had the edge for 2 channel listening. Pictures (sorry - its overcast on the Gold Coast today so light not so great):

  16. Just seeing how much/if any interest this gets as I'm not 100% yet. In an ideal world, I would prefer this all be sold as one however I know this hobby is an extremely subjective one. Gauging mainly local interest due to the size of some of these components however depending on how things pan out, I may consider interstate. Speakers: Dynaudio Confidence C1 II (Black) Speaker stands: Dynaudio Stand 6 (Black) Amplifier: Plinius Hautonga (Silver) Digital-to-analog converter: Schiit Gungnir Multibit (Silver) Rack: 2-tier Hi Fi Racks Podium Reference (Oak) Location: 6150 Price: $12,000 Item Condition: All immaculate Reason for selling: Far from ideal room, and no longer in use. 17. For sale is a VERY lightly used pair of Dynaudio Focus 140 speakers. I bought this few years back and have unbelievably very few hours on it (less than, may be 150 hours). Comes in Cherry finish. I am the original owner. I purchased them brand new from an authorized dealer and have the original package. Speakers were never mounted. Asking price: $900 Location: Princetown VIC 3269
  18. Item: Dynaudio 110A Active Speakers (pair) Location: Adelaide Price: $1100 Item Condition: Very Good to excellent - I can't see any defects apart from some dust the flash revealed. Reason for selling: Stepping up the line. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays pp fee) or Bank deposit. Happy to ship to mainland Oz for $40. Extra Info: I'm sorry for the ordinary phone pics. If I get a chance I may get some better ones up in a few days. They do show condition pretty well though I think. Plenty of reviews on the web but the gist of these I'd say is that they get you into the sound quality of the Focus line without the difficulty, expense and decor difficulties in finding compatible amplification (which is not an insignificant problem for some of them). Any line level source can drive them and they sound full, warm and dynamic to my ears. For a small to medium sized room, office or bedroom they are just fantastic and to underscore the commonly used description - they sound larger than their dimensions would suggest. These have have little use as the previous owner had them in a second system and was using Contour S1.4s for his primaries. I've had a taste and now I intend to move up the Dynaudio line. For me these were a noticeable step up in quality from the old Audience series, the DM2/7, Excite x14's or Xeo 3s - which I guess is to be expected! Pictures:

  24. Would appreciate advice on whether there are any foreseeable problems in driving a pair of 4 ohm rated DynAudios from a Denon AVR2310. I have been running them as a 2 channel system off a Yamaha A-S700 but I am considering adding a DynAudio center speaker and hooking up to the Denon as a 3 speaker system. Getting mixed responses as to overheating and music quality issue. Very small listening area and rare to take things up past about 30% of capability. I have another set of DynAudio Excite 12 speakers (also rated as 4ohm) as an option. All comments most appreciated. (PS: should have added the Denon VR is rated at 6-16ohm).
  25. Item: DYNAUDIO 1.3 SE LOUDSPEAKERS Location: SYDNEY Price: $1500 Item Condition: GOOD Reason for selling: C1s Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Highly regarded ancestor of the Special 25 and C1, these have been my main speakers for the last 10 yrs. Dynamic, detailed with with excellent bass. Not hard to drive but like current. They are functioning perfectly, the boxes are in excellent nick (please don't be put off by what appears to be faded veneer on the side in the first photo, it is the result of direct sunlight on that side when the photo was taken). The grills are in good condition. One woofer has a slight hole in the surround (see picture)which I was advised by a Dynaudio repairer was not worth replacing. Slight marks on the metal chassis of drivers which I have been unable to remove. I have the original boxes and will ship at buyers expense. Pictures:
