  4. Item: Audio Aero Capitole CD Player (for parts or rebuild) Location: Melbourne Price: $150 or offer Item Condition: Good cosmetic condition Reason for selling: Another project which will never be undertaken Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank Deposit, COD Only Extra Info: One of the legendary CD Players. Highly regarded when it came out for its extreme musicality and 'analog' like sound. This player is for parts or rebuild only. Its missing its transport mechanism. I bought this player from a mate a couple of years ago as spares for my Audio Aero Capitole MKii. I didn't realise the players have different mechanisms so this earlier original Audio Aero Capitole (MKi) would not make a suitable donor so it has sat in a cupboard the entire time I've owned it. When i bought it from my mate it had beens sitting under his bed for some years. The mechanism is missing because he mentioned the laser failed, the mechanism was sent to the agent (Greg Osborn) to get a replacement fitted and Audio Aero went into receivership and stopped trading for a time so no mechanism ever eventuated. You may be able to use the digital inputs, may be able to use parts, may be able to source another mechanism. But its sold as parts only. Really nicely made chassis. Probably has some interesting parts inside. Super heavy top loading player that may be of interest to someone. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  7. Item: Marantz CD6004 CD Player Location: Williamstown Victoria Price: $350 Item Condition: Like new Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Have this fabulous CD player sitting around not getting used. Its really very good - I put it into my system last night to test and photograph it, and I'd forgotten how good it sounded. I was so taken with the sound that I played through a couple of CD's before I stopped. Has a USB input on the front so its very versatile, and can be used as a transport. Also allows you to switch off the USB input, display and digital outputs to improve the sound quality - which is the mode I use it in. The previous model was highly lauded and reviewed, beating everything at its price point and then some. This model sports a new CD mechanism, upgraded power supply, brand new DAC, new amplifier module and a new, vibration-eliminating solid metal bottom-plate. It looks much more expensive than it is, and the quality of the case and buttons would make you think so to. The CD player reproduces music in a rich, detailed but dynamic way, and has a way with rhythm that is really infectious. See What Hifi for a great review, which pretty much sums up what I think: https://www.whathifi.com/marantz/cd6004/review Alas I have too much gear and the upgrade bug has bitten me bad so I have to clear the decks, raise some funds and say goodbye to some of this lovely gear. Comes with a Marantz remote and a standard power cable if you need one, but I dont have the original packaging so I'm more interested in pick at this point. If you're interstate and really keen drop me a line and I might consider it depending on how much interest I get. Donation to SNA on successful sale. Redgum players do not have remote controls or LCD screens and it is for this reason that I used the CD5 mostly as a stand alone DAC. It has a coax digital input. It has a very fast and detailed sound. Pictures:

High quality build, heavy with excellent power supply. See review : https://www.head-fi.org/threads/proud-new-rotel-rcd-855-owner.163783/ Stereophile : "By now, it's no secret that one of audio's biggest values has been the hugely popular Rotel RCD-855 CD player; for only $400, it offered sound quality on a par with far more expensive gear, and provided countless tentative audiophiles with the perfect interim CD player during a period of almost daily digital breakthroughs. I don't know about you, but it seems to me like Bob Harley (in whose beard we trust) has been heralding a newest bestest digital processor in every issue of Stereophile for the past couple of years now! I'm not blaming my homeslice RH, though; the Mark Levinsons, Audio Researches, Thetas, Staxes, Wadias, and VTLs have been battling it out for the title of Supreme Digital Leader with more stubborn inbred fury than a hundred Hatfields and McCoys, churning out ever-better gear almost faster than the chipmakers can cut their dies. So when Lewis Lipnick called the $400 Rotel 855 "the steal of the century" in Vol.13 No.7, a loud chorus of HUZZAHS! arose from the foxholes; finally, there was a cheap CD player that could hold its own with the big boys. Pow-er To The Pee-pull! The Rotel was the right player at the right time; basically a standard Philips 16-bit machine with better parts and a beefier power supply, the 855 found a home in thousands of happy systems the world over. I am quite fastidious and can tell you in the rack it looks great ! more info https://www.meridian-audio.info/public/556[78].pdf as it describes, "Meridian 556 The 556 is an outstanding 100W stereo amplifier which provides exquisite results with even the most demanding loudspeakers. The Meridian 556 houses two powerful amplifiers in a dual mono construction. The over-specified output stage uses 8 high-power transistors. These, combined with a low-noise 800VA toroidal transformer, permit this amplifier to deliver massive currents, ensuring no loss of performance even into loads that dip below 2 ohms. The power delivery of this amplifier makes it ideal for driving difficult loudspeaker loads. The 556 provides unbalanced inputs as well as twin outputs for bi-wiring. The topology of 556 is very much in the Meridian tradition. A high-precision, fast, DC-precise input stage is combined with fully complementary amplification and output stages. The 556 also uses Meridian’s well tried self-adjusting bias and error-correction output circuitry. As you may expect, the 556 is fully protected against DC and thermal overload." Item: Sony CDP-101 CD Player Location: Melbourne, Westmeadows, 3049 Price: $10, pickup only from 3049 Item Condition: Jurassic Reason for selling: Paper Weight Payment Method: Pickup - COD Only Extra Info: I bought this from a Cash Converters for $150 as working. It wasn't. The tray was laboured moving in and out. I found a service center named "Trevor Lees", and I took the player there. After a few weeks, the player was returned to me. I paid just under $200 for the repair. I can now confidentially say that the unit will NOT catch on fire when powered on. That's all. This is my first attempted sale on SNA. Not a good introduction really. Sorry. Pictures:
