  1. Yep, more interested in the story / how / why than anything I also want to try get my hands on another Aus original press in good condition to hear how amazing it must sound
  2. Ah ok... I thought all the early Pink Floyd albums in Aus used UK parts up until Wish You Were Here? Given how close they are compared to every other countries press, what would you suggest happened? They used a dub tape, or they made different plates in the UK for the Aus market?
  3. I don't think that's right mate. SHVL804 is stereo. QHVL804 is quad mix. This is original UK quad matrix, which is exactly the same as the Aus one I have A2 B1 https://www.discogs.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon/release/1830381
  4. This is the Australian Quad pressing I have. Some very decent pricing available of this. This is made with the OG UK plates, so is essentially exactly the same as the original UK press that goes for HUGE money https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/1340897?ev=rb I'm tempted to get another copy as mine is from dad and it's pretty beaten up
  5. I've heard the 30th and 40th Anniversary presses are the way forward! Both are still getting $300+ haha
  6. So I just listened to this back to back with my mint new 2016 pressing. And it's like chalk and cheese! My original quad press is pretty beaten up. Lots of little scratches and surface noise as it had literally sat on a shelf uncovered for 30 years... However WOW! Even with all the surface noise it blows the new copy out of the water. The Quad effects are crazy too, especially in Money. It sounds like the music is actually floating all around the room. The first press feels like you're standing in the middle of a crowd at a concert filled with smoke and they'
  7. It has a big red label too if you're buying in store
  8. You want the ones mastered by Bob and printed at MPO. They released all albums so you can get Easy Street too
  9. These are the ones you want https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Brothers-In-Arms/release/15687665 https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Making-Movies/release/15626497
  10. Mine is the back to Black but 2020 which is better. Same plates just better pressing. MPO vs gz. You can buy at good retail now cheap. Just look for the red sticker that says mastered by Bernie from original analogue
  11. This very my original aus version is like night and day. Albeit my Aussie one isn't in the greatest nick
  12. Nice one! These are the pressings of Brothers and Making Movies that I got from JB. Pressed at MPO rather than GZ, and they're insanely good. https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Brothers-In-Arms/release/15687665 https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Making-Movies/release/15626497
  13. I recently bought the new 2019 press of Making Movies and 2020 presses of Brothers In Arms from JB. They've been pressed at MPO vs the original set that were pressed at GZ, and they sound INCREDIBLE. Better than anything in my entire collection. And only $35 for Making Movies single LP, $48 for Brothers double LP. If the Mofi ones are better then they'd have to be mind blowingly good. https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Brothers-In-Arms/release/15687665 https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Making-Movies/release/15626497
  14. Not sure as I don't own them. However can confirm they sound as good if not better than original mint Beatles, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac presses that I have. They were also $35 and $48 from JB. So much better value IMO. Brothers is a double LP! Compared to the Aussie "very good" press I have of Brothers. It's like comparing Standard def TV with 4K HRD haha
  15. Three new additions to this list. All new. Coldplay Parachutes 2020 release. I grew up listening to Coldplay. This is like Chris is sitting in the living room 10 metres in front of you. MINDBLOWING. https://www.discogs.com/Coldplay-Parachutes/release/16231042 Dire Straits - All the recent remasters by Bernie Grundman and Bob Ludwig pressed at MPO. Cheap and ******* AMAZING https://www.discogs.com/Dire-Straits-Brothers-In-Arms/release/15687665
