  4. FYI, in case you haven't seen, looks like Pro-Ject just released an update to their Debut Carbon series, although will not be available in Australia until next month (depending on colour), which is just several weeks away anyway... https://www.stereo.net.au/news/pro-ject-releases-debut-carbon-evolution-turntable
  5. Further information: A mint condition FiiO X5 III (3rd generation) digital audio player with original leatherette case, clear case and screen protector applied in-factory. This was mainly my car player, never actually left the car much or carried around. Mostly using Spotify in car these days so no longer required, selling to fund a new turntable and phono stage. Further information, specs and manuals are available on FiiO's website: https://www.fiio.com/x5iii . Does not include original box, micro USB cable, coaxial digital adapter cable, micro SD card slot ejector pin, charger and other paper documentation that originally came with the unit. As a bonus I am including 2x 32GB SanDisk Ultra micro SD card installed in unit for free (not pictured). Also note the clear TPU case has blemishes although never been used. 7. Hi ScottyPeace. I have read somewhere that apparently the rubber grommets and screws are now required and is there by design, although I cannot remember where now given the amount of content I went though. Since I actually don't have a hum or noise issue after making proper grounding I have just left it as it is and not try and fix things if its not broken. Personally I found the 2M Red to be a little bright like many others have also observed, so I decided to go with the OM series instead of trying out the 2M Blue which would have been a much easier upgrade since its just a stylus swap as you mentioned. Oh, one thing I did dislike about the 2M is the stylus cover, which I found to be a pain to put back on
  8. Hi koloss. I'm wondering if you could be having a ground loop issue, where two or more devices are connected to a common ground via different paths. You can Google and read up more about it and some potential solutions and see if it helps. Rega P2's do not have a separate ground and the grounding is via RCA. Does the hum get worst if you touch the RCA connectors at the amp or phono side?
  9. Hi ScottyPeace. Indeed doing a search on Google for the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon returns a fair amount of reports about hum issues with this turntable, however it also returns an equal amount of people reporting no hum issues as well, so it appears to me that the cause is likely to be equipment/setup specific rather than design issues with the turntable itself. So I decided to give it a shot anyways by ordering directly from Project Audio Australia (Interdyn) since they have a 30 day if you don't like it, send it back return policy. After setting everything up, I did in fact encounter noticeable hum when the volume pot is at 12 o'clock and beyond. However, I wasn't exactly surprised by this as I am using active speakers without an amp that is properly grounded, so I made an additional earth/ground lead and connected it from the phono earth/ground to power socket earth. That completely got rid of the hum for me and is dead silent now even with the volume pot at 3 o'clock. Wrt to the removal or loosening of the transport screws and rubber grommets for the motor bracket, I would suggest you not try this as I believe these instructions are for older models of these units and not meant for newer models. The 2M Red that came with the unit is a decent cart, but as you said, the Blue makes a worthwhile upgrade. Personally I down?graded to a OM 20
  10. Hi ScottyPeace and welcome to SNA. I was in a similar situation as yourself just several weeks ago and after much consideration and deliberation of new vs second hand, and what is available in the market for both, I eventually settled for a new Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB ($900) with a Pro-Ject Tube Box S2 ($600) phono stage and am very happy with the results so far. Like others have said, buying second hand will most certainly give you better value for dollar, however buying second hand may also come with its own set of problems that you would not get from buying new, so ultimately you have to weigh the features and risks yourself to prioritize and decide on what you need for your budget. I believe both the Rega Planar 2 and Pro-Ject X1 are very good tables, but IMHO they are not in the same class for comparisons, a Pro-Ject X1 at minimum it should perhaps be compared to a Rega Planar 3 although others may disagree. For myself, ultimately the non-adjustable (or very difficult to mod/adjust) anti-skate on the Planar 1 & 2 made me strike those out while the Pro-Ject won over the Planar 3 because of price and the built-in speed box feature.
  11. Further information: A mint condition beyerdynamic Xelento Remote IEM with original box and all accessories and documentation that came in the box. All original eartips (3 pairs of Comply + 7 pairs of silicone) are unused as I have used my own Comply foams from the beginning. Only the 3-pole mini jack plug cable without the remote control and microphone have been unpacked and used. Will include a FiiO balanced headphone cable with MMCX connectors for free (not pictured). Further information, specs and manuals are available on beyerdynamic's website: https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/xelento-remote.html . Can ship for $12 via AusPost parcel post with signature. Purchased in May 2018 from MiniDisc, tax receipt included. Please PM if you have any questions. Thanks! 12. Further information: Bought this new about 9 months ago as a stepping stone to understanding more about vinyl, and it has since served its purpose as I have learnt a lot and have now upgraded to a better, more customizable manual turntable and phono stage. This sale only includes the turntable (including original stylus, 45 RPM adapter, felt mat, platter, drive belt, dust cover), power adapter (3rd party), and custom black nylon cover from DigitalDeckCovers (see photos). Does not include audio cables, so you would need to supply your own 3.5mm cable to connect to the phono/line jack or use bluetooth. Also does not include a box, so pickup only unfortunately. Stylus has <50 hours in it so should still play fine for some time. The plastic/clear dust cover is easily scratched, so there are swirl marks and minor scratches, although nothing noticeable unless you really stare at it. Further information and specs are available on Audio-Technica's website: https://audio-technica.com.au/products/at-lp60xbt/ . PM if you have any questions. Thanks!
