  1. I'm an Android user - sorry. Seems to work well in Android Auto from very limited testing, but they're obviously very different platforms.

Speaking of platforms, can anyone else in Aus find Qobuz as a service in their Sonos app? I can't add it for some reason.

  2. I just tried signing up for Qobuz again tonight knowing that it was due soon and after an initial message saying it wasn't available, it redirected to a local, Aus version of the site and I could sign up. I'm now listening to glorious true hi-res (no MQA here!) and rebuilding all my Tidal playlists. So far only 2 albums missing (Thirsty Merc AAA and any Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole).

I'm loving the fact that I no longer have you carefully select the MQA or non- MQA version of each album, just deluxe or remastered versions. It makes it much easier to select the album I want

Hey @PassionForSound It's the Clairvoyance I ordered, they're made to order by the looks of it. Probably a few weeks yet. I'm currently rocking some Dunu SA6 which i'd be happy to loan to you once the Thieaudio arrive then vice versa. Great work on the channel btw and happy to support. Want to sell the Blessing 2 Dusk as new so dont want to crack the seal. Sorry buddy

    I completely understand, @Higgsinspace - no apologies needed 🙂

Thanks for the offer on the Dunus. I'm booked up through to July at the moment so being a bit selective with what I accept right now so as not to get swamped, but perhaps we can chat again later in the year. Really appreciate the offer!

@PassionForSound These would make a great baseline for review comparisons...

I'd love to, but I am SO in debt at the moment with the channel that someone will have to donate them or lend them to the channel for me to review these. I need to sell off a bunch of gear once I complete some specific upcoming reviews and then maybe I can go around again...

@Higgsinspace did you receive the Monarchs yet? I've been trying to get a pair for months now (a demo unit so a bit different to a retail set)

That sultry soft voice you use for your videos is put on. Admit it.

LOL. I was chatting with work colleagues this week about that, saying how much I don't like hearing my own voice. I think most of us are like that it seems.

As for the quiet tones, that's called my "baby is asleep in the room next door" voice 😆

I bought the WireWorld USB cable as part of an affordable USB cable comparison video I am releasing soon and while I didn't end up drawing any strong conclusions on the subjective quality of any of the three cables, I felt they were all much better made than most of the generic cables I've come across so even if you don't believe in USB cables changing the sound, this is a nicely made and still very affordable cable.

For the sake of curiosity, the three cables in question were the Supra USB, WireWorld Chroma 8 (this one) and the Oyaide Neo d+ and the video was more about trying to subjectively prove if there is/is not a difference heard when using different cables which is why I don't really have a subjective opinion on the sound quality of any of them (although I think I slightly prefer the Supra overall)

  7. Item Condition: Used - minor cosmetic wear
Shipping Options: Pickup available but audition is not available.,Shipping is available at agreed cost.
    Suburb or Town: Seaford
    State: VIC
Payment Method: PayPal (gift) or EFT
Reason for selling: Not getting enough use - need to fund more reviews

    Further information:

Very reluctant sale that I have tossed and turned over for months because it's not getting a lot of use, but I just LOVE it's sound. In the end, the need to buy more gear for reviews has gotten the better of me so it's up for sale...

Still one of the very best DAPs you can buy. The Stainless Steel version is an improvement over all the other versions of the AK240. More info here: https://www.astellnkern.com/eng/content/shop/features.asp?mcg=CG110000&mpos=0&scg=CG210240&spos=4&tcg=&tpos=0&gcode=SC10810

This unit does have the volume control issue where it jumps around a bit if you use the dial, but it's very easy to turn the dial and then use the touch-screen to adjust.

I'm the second owner. The original owner took very good care of this and it has rarely (if ever?) left my house since I bought it. As you'll see in the images, the unit is in excellent condition except for a few cosmetic marks (i.e. they are superficial and not scratches or dents). Leather case included along with the installed screen and back protectors (fitted since new) and a bunch of spares too.

200Gb micro SD card also included in price

Reason for selling: My wife keeps counting how many headphones I have ;)

The R70X is a little-known high impedance headphone alternative to the ubiquitous Sennheisers and beyerdynamics we all know. Rated at 470 ohms and 99dB, they're pretty easy to drive from desktop gear, but work well with OTL and high output impedance gear.

They've got a pretty neutral tuning and use Audio Technica's excellent sprung wing headpads for good, long term comfort.

These are very lightly used and even have the plastic over the logos in the centre of each grille still.

    Included with them is:

    • Original cable
    • Original box
    • Soft pouch

I received this cable as part of a purchase here on the forum. My understanding is that it is worth $1100 brand new. It's a beautiful cable that appears to be a combination of silver and copper wire. If you know Aurealis Audio, you'll know how beautifully made (and of high quality materials) his cables always are.

The cable is in great condition with the only signs of use being on the 6.3mm connector shaft from being plugged/unplugged

Updated with some info from Geoff at Aurealis about the wires that makeup the cable:

It’s always hard to tell from the photos but one of the wires used is the copper/silver spun hybrid. That’s pretty much the top of the line in the Australian market.   The other wire is likely a pure silver one mixed with some gold.
I didn’t personally make that cable. It would have been a special custom order made by my partner in Singapore.  But given the combination of wires, it is a bit of a rare one.

Wow just got on Lachlan channel. He look like Jason Statham but friendlier.

That's hilarious! I should add that to my opening intro! "I'm Lachlan - like Jason Statham only friendlier"

That's an amazing collection of tubes you have there, @Odyssey!

So, it sounds like I shouldn't bother trying to arrange a set of new Genalex Gold Lion DT88 & 12AU7s to test in my review. I wanted to showcase what is possible from the 8200R without going down the NOS path (i.e. for those who want to buy new retail stock). Any recommendations on the best new production tubes for the 8200R?

@PassionForSound i have just sold my Elekit TU-8200, was using current production Electroharmonix 6CA7 and Mullard 12AU7, these replaced JJ 6L6GC's and JJ 12AU7's, overall a much smoother sound without losing too much top and bottom end. Have not tried NOS tubes, read somewhere the current production tubes give 80% of NOS sound at 20% of the price, did not have the funds to test the theory.

Thanks for the info, @wen. I've bought a range of affordable NOS tubes overnight and I'm in discussion with some local retailers about getting a full set of Genalex Gold Lions for all four tubes on the 8200 to see how they compare.
