Roughly 2 years ago, my mother was moving to a smaller space and had a pretty decent vinyl LP collection.
I had been asking her for ages to let me go through it and it was finally the right time. I did not take everything she had as it just was not my cup of tea.
I ended up leaving with around 70~80 albums from the likes of; Alice cooper, The Angels, Black Sabbath, Dire Straits, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Santana and many more.
Out of the stuff I did take, I ended up selling at least 50% off it as I wasn't really listening to it and figured someone else would enjoy them more so than I.
Now I am sitting on close to 100 LP's, most of which now consists of death metal/black metal/heavy metal with bits of reggae and hip-hop sprinkled throughout.
About a week after I went through my mothers collection, I picked up an Audio Technica LP60 turntable that runs into a set of Logitech X-530's 5:1 surround sound computer speakers.
I have been using this "poverty" setup ever since.
About a month ago however, a work mate of mine gifted me a Marantz pm700avk amplifier, that needs a service, and showed me his own setup at his home, which absolutely blew me away. The sound was so large and textured compared to the flat mess I get out of my own setup.
Looking to get the Marantz Amp repaired soon and to pick up some big ass floor speakers, to make my neighbors hate my taste in music that little bit more.
