  1. to clarify, i have a vintage store with some basic hifi and fashion and we are the best live jazz venue in adelaide! (plug or true - you decide) i have some high end classic offerings part of my personal use collection which i am selling. these are not in store, high end is not what my store is about. thesre are 10-15 items in total, all 40+ years out of production, rare as hens teeth and coveted by many. if these offerings are not welcome on the site then i will leave if asked. the brief time i have spent so far have been on the whole an interesting and positive experience. all the best, j.
  2. this is part of my personal collection. yes i am in the industry, sortof. nothing in my store over $500 high end is not my market. but kudos on the research and recommend me for banning if i am out of line.
  3. thanks. im new this forum but well versed in ebay. are there scammers on this site? (silly question) if so should i be worried about arranging inspection with buyers? ive heard of the foreign buyer overpaying via paypal for later pickup by friend scam, but are there any to watch out for here? cheers j
  4. hi, feel free to give me an email, its incredibly big and heavy. i would not be able to pack it, but pack and send will.
  5. yes the mac system is closer to what i was thinking. those other devices are both discontinued and from companies i havent heard of. i imagine anything involving cds is on a shard decline if it still exists at all. i still love mine, just want to get a more convenient way to listen..

  8. question - i have a huge cd selection that i still love, a great musical fidelity single cd player that i use regularly. im to find the best high end music server / DAC that has a good user interface and hopefully can rip cds. i have zero interest in spotify or mp3. maybe for the car or jogging but i want pristine lossless audio for my setup. i would consider anything that is not to cumbersome. i toyed with the idea of a dedicated computer and adding a dac but i was hoping there was a stand alone solution, money no object if the device is nice enough, having said that i have steered away from a few cheaper solutions as i thought they couldnt be good for the price. checked out some other forums but found that naturally enough there is a huge cross section of users with experience ranging from the beginner to the expert with the resulting muddying of the waters this brings...
  9. hi, yes. the engine sites are great. hoping for other leads
  10. hi all, been a hifi nut for many years now. thought id finally join... i enjoy the technical side (tinkering and experimenting) nearly as much as the listening. i look forward to learning a thing or two, sharing a thought or two and selling a thing or two to fund the next foray into space / time and audio!
  11. hi, i love the 'engine' sites out there, but anyone know if there is a cart to tonearm matching database? ie effective masses and compliance etc and maybe even tested results on some of the better known arms and carts?
  12. this is my first post, so like any nice person ill start with controversy! as a collector i have 3k plus lps. as an Australian 80% are made here no matter the origin of the artist. as an audiophile i have decent equipment set up well. (krell, sota sapphire, classe, musical fidelity, b&w etc) as a stubborn cat who has spent on all above i feel the stubborn need to love my lps. ill sit through surface noise and hiss, rumble, scratches... i have a nitty gritty, i clean my records, anyway - of every 10 records i play only one or two blow me away. the rest just leave me underwhelmed. thin, noisy, poor dynamic range etc. oh my but when its good its good... there, i said it. its my first post. c'arn. what do others think. who will tell the emperor he has no clothes! i feel my capital outlay influences my and other peoples decisions, after all if its expensive - it must be good. who has the guts to call bullshit? dont get me wrong my lp collection is not going anywhere, i love most of it and more importantly a lot of the obscure jazz i listen to is not available on any other format. but...
