They are one of the best low output humbuckers available. https://www.lollarguitars.com/lollar-humbucker-pickups/lollar-imperial-humbucker Photos:
  3. Appreciate that @MattyW. I will most likely head down that track.
  4. Thanks for the interest @MattyW I am certainly putting some hours on this DAC. I don't really think in terms of digital or analog when playing music now I have the Abbas. More often than not I'll happily reach for a CD without a second thought. Before the Abbas if anyone was around and showed some interest in the Altecs I had my go to records and that was that. Not any more. The Abbas has such a big, open and detailed sound it is hard not to feel the connection. And it scales up so well. Low volume to max vol. the dynamics are there. Obviously there are a number of variables from system to sys
  5. Further information: These drivers were installed in Altec Valencia 846B cabinets purchased last year and restored as documented in link below. Drivers were installed to the stock Valencia 811B sectoral horn but can be mounted to Altec 511B sectoral and 32A, 32B and 32C bent horns. The drivers have the latest Altec tangerine radial phase plug with aluminium diaphragms. Dust covers are missing as shown and were purchased and installed to Valencia cabinets like this. Drivers perform perfectly and can be auditioned. The 902-8B was installed to the Valencia to provide an extende

  8. I am only using with a transport. Maybe down the track I will look at other options as other members have described.
  9. Thanks @xlr8or for your advice on the tubes. Unfortunately the cover of the DAC was damaged by a customs inspection. I contacted Abbas Audio to enquire about purchasing a replacement cover and he is going to ship out a replacement free of charge. As per his suggestion I am going with a 2.3SE cover with a hole allowing for the big bottle 6x5. Not that I have big bottle 6x5 dollars. Those tubes do not come cheap.
  10. It is in action at the moment. Following is link with details of the 4.1SE and others. https://ym6t3zcngbqjloregzh5737kiy-jj2cvlaia66be-abbasaudio-listbb-ru.translate.goog/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=2338&sid=92abe2f3dd6aeac985de24ff9a8e26ba
  11. System details as follows; Fidelity Research FR-1 MK3F>Rega P9>FRT-3 >Abbas RIAA preamp (EF86)>Line Magnetic LM211>Altec Lansing 846B with external mounted Mantarays TEAC VRDS10>Abbas 4.1SE>Line Magnetic LM211>Altecs This is the the first stand alone DAC I have purchased and the first and only I have used in this system. Both the DAC and the RIAA preamp took a month to arrive from ordering.
  12. I am going to add my voice to the commentary on here regarding Abbas Audio. I received my 4.1SE this week from the Ukraine and I was floored immediately by the sound of this DAC. Full disclosure this is my first real move to a digital source in my current setup so no claims to be an expert. What I will say is that out of the box with an RCA interconnect to the transport (no SPDIF) and whatever basic power cable I had kicking around this DAC sounds astonishing. Spacious and detailed with restrained authority. I can only expect it to improve as time goes on and I get organised with cables. Thank
  13. Yes. It was bias adjustment. Then the motor died. All fixed now with replacement motor thanks to Trevor Wilson.
  14. A big thank you to this topic and whomever it was that posted this release earlier.
  15. Congratulations @Zedamon . Having a pair of Alan’s cabinets myself it’s safe to say you’d be feeling very happy with those Berkeley’s. Thanks for the write up Alan. Always enjoy reading up on your restoration projects.
