  1. No complaints on the bases from where I am sitting.
  2. Item: Sansui TU717 Price Range: Negotiable Item Condition: Extra Info: Looking for a Sansui tuner. Preferably the TU717 but also other units from TU517 up to the TU919. Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
  3. Thanks MarcAL. Yes very happy with how it has turned out with these speakers not having owned or really heard much of this type of loudspeaker before. I have them setup for near field listening in the office (my wife is awesome but having these bad boys in the living room is a no go). A bit of fine tuning to find their happy place but when dialled in a very engaging sound. After hearing them pumping in Alan's workshop I realised the sound just keeps scaling up to 11. I gotta build a bigger room.
  4. Great to have the Valencias back. Alan has done some excellent work on the cabinets as is evident in this thread. With the pictures only going so far in showing the quality of final result. When purchased from MGO recently on here the cabinets were serviceable but clearly not the selling point. At the time he mentioned he new of a craftsman if I wanted to do something with them. He was not wrong. Beginning to end from advice on approach to work done Alan had it covered. Props to the workplace sound system too.
  5. +1 on powerglide. Very impressed with Alan's work to date on my Valencias. When you have speakers the size of washing machines sitting in your living room they gotta look right.
  6. Item:B&W DM5 Terminal Block / Binding Posts Price Range:Whatever it takes Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Looking for terminal block as shown in photo. One of the binding posts is broken and from what I can tell this is not uncommon. Hoping to find another to replace before I look to other options. Happy to buy a pair if needed. Appreciate any help. Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
  7. A little bit more of the backstory for those interested. Turntable was stored in a waterfront attic so fair to assume that has contributed to the corrosion. Main use for turntable wayback when was as source for reel to reel recordings. I have been the very fortunate recipient of some pristine LP's. Fair to say it had an easy life prior to being committed to deep storage.
  8. Awesome Ray. Drop the mic. Your work here is done. Many thanks. Just bought one with free international shipping. Now for my next request....
  9. Thanks Ray. I jumped back into the manual and it notes a Nakamichi unit and goes though the process. I assume the electric toothbrush looking units are a better option than the old head cleaning tape type. Lucky me. Another obscure old school artefact to try and dig out. I am going to throw out a lifeline in the WTB thread.
  10. Further information: Selling for my father in law who is the original / one and only owner. It has been in storage for a long while. Plinth is not original. Made by an architectural model maker of some renown in the 70s. Unit powers up but beyond the strobe light no action. I believe the cartridge is an Empire 200e. Stylus appears to be in good shape. RCA's have been removed as shown in photo. Happy to answer any questions and hopefully this can be of some use to someone out in the SNA world. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  11. Many thanks for reply. I have cleaned heads as per manual but have not demagnetised. Maybe I give that a try. Any suggestions on best way.
  12. I am looking for some advice on what I think maybe bias adjustment for this deck. Deck plays and records however I cannot set record calibration to some type 1 and type 2 tapes. No problem calibrating TDK SA90, MA90 and Sony HF-ES with great results. Recently went to record with Denon HD6 and TDK AD90 but did not have enough range to calibrate these tapes. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Got the handles. Many thanks John and to all replies.
  14. Item: Sansui Au919 Rack handles Price Range: Whatever it takes. Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Appreciate any help. Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
  15. Item: Sansui cassette deck Price Range: not much Item Condition: Working Extra Info: Hoping to find a sansui cassette deck around the Au919 era in working condition. Looking to play some old jam tapes . Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
