  3. I've had success setting up subwoofers that seem underpowered/ inadequate for some layouts. I'd start overlapping just 10-20 Hz between your speakers and the sub. In your case, move the x-over knob on the sub down to 55-60 Hz and start increasing the volume to your liking. See how it goes, if no much luck start playing with position.
  4. I agree with @wen Rotel is great, but not in the same league as Luxman. Service it, enjoy it, keep it!
  5. Thanks @rmpfyf Hit the nail in the head!
  6. Thanks @Ittaku I wanted something like this, a bit more to the fundamentals and less bashing the product. I joined the forum to grow my knowledge about HiFi, audio/video, etc and so far I've absorbed a bit. When you reply to the brand representatives with an answer like yours, they always have something to say, but it's never concrete, to me it's not enough, I wan't more honest answers like yours. Have a great day!
  7. Thanks @Hydrology pretty much what I wanted was to be more confident at the moment of a demonstration and a sale, without being misleading, and at the same time I wanted to look in front of my clients like I know what I'm talking about; because in forums or in-store, it's a heated topic and it was never my intention to cause discomfort, confrontation or friction within the forum. I'm all about the theory and the knowledge and I keep reading and researching about it. Again, thanks for your insights and I'll try and to keep an open mind while still trying to stick to what I hear and believe. Cheers
  8. I actually sell them, but I struggle to justify them to my clients and customer, because I'm all about the technicality of everything. Easy for me to sell the cheap ones. When compared to the standard one that comes in the box, I can tell there's a bit of "lift" in the sound quality, but when it comes to the $500+ cables, damn, I don't know what to look for when I listen to a system hooked with those cables, hence I asked someone with enough technical knowledge Cheers
  9. Hi Gents! Some people believe in the products (especially the representatives who pushes them) and the more I read the more confuse I get. From an architectural point of view, generic, black plastic power cables and specifically designed (Isotek / Nordost, for example) they are not that different, but yet manufactures claim big differences in sound quality. There seems to be divided opinions even in this forum. Can anyone with enough technical knowledge on the subject matter -and who believes all those products are snake oil- explain in down-to-earth terms (I'm OK with a bit technical words) why they decrease "dynamic range" or "don't or won't improve sound in this or that matter" I know it's a topic that won't settle anytime soon, but I'd like to see someone give some insight from the skeptical point of view. Have a good night fellas!
  10. Hi @Shmacko I'd get the Yamaha, a bit more grunt than the NAD and in my experience a better match to the KEFs. On top of that, the MusicCast app is getting really good, easy to use. Solid choice!
  11. Thanks for the photos @Bryce_R That's a neat a very well designed system you have. I have the Apertas too, everybody with decent bookshelf speakers should get them, massive (and immediate obvious) difference in the soundstage. I'm in the middle of updating my system but will put up some photos as soon as I have it ready. Cheers!
  12. I hope you enjoy your new speakers!
  13. Hi @m0rkz I just "upgraded" from 2x PB1000 to 1x SB2000 and frankly I'm not happy. Although you can feel the SB2000 is a superior subwoofer, the bottom end doesn't spread around my room evenly. Granted, I'm still running it in, but already I can feel more focus and energy at one or two points but not the whole room. My point: the better experience would be 2 subs, carefully located and calibrated. I'm saving up for a second SB2000, which I recommend due to your constrains in room size and requirements in performance. Cheers
  14. Hi @Bryce_R fantastic setup! Looking forward to see some pictures of it!
  15. Hi @mjsprice lots of people agree on the Monitor Audio Bronze 2. My 2 cents: no way you will go wrong with that set. Although they are a bit susceptible to source and amplification levels, they perform really well to the point that I couldn't justify selling B&W 606 at $1100 when the Bronze 2 have a comparable performance at $600-649. Cheers
