  1. The suggestion of checking the earth lead connection is a good one, so I would do what RCAJack has suggested. There are two other things that you could look into, and I assume that you mean "hum" and not "rumble" from the turntable? Firstly check if your turntable is plugged into the same power point as your amplifier. If they are plugged into different power points you could get an earth loop which will cause hum. Secondly, check to see if the motor of your turntable is located under the platter. If it is then the hum could be caused by inductance into the cartridge. A better MM cartridge wil
  2. A great turntable and a great tonearm! Anyone looking for a top turntable/tonearm combination at an entry level price should look at this.
  3. There is an SDS on ebay, they don't come up very often. The price is a bit less then I have seen them advertised for before. Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=vpi+turntable&_sop=12 The armboard would have to be extended at the rear to accomodate a 12" arm, I think it could be done though. I fitted a 9" VPI memorial arm to mine, a 10" arm would fit equally well. Here is a photo of mine with the 9" arm and the armboard that I had made. The armboard is held by cap bolts from underneath.
  4. I had a new acrylic armboard made up for my TNT-2 and it looks like it came out of the factory. It can be drilled for whatever tonearm you like. I made one up out of craftwood first and trial fitted it since the original dimensions would have been imperial and I calculated it with metric measurements. If it is the same as mine, which the photo suggests, yours will be Width 100mm x Length 278mm x Thickness 14mm, is this correct? I was told that trying to polish black acrylic would end in tears, it seems that perhaps others have had a different pos
  5. I have the JC5 power amp and have to agree, it is stunning! Great detail retrieval and finesse which is in complete contrast to the enormous about of power on tap. It is very musical too! I imagine this would be a great combination with the JC2 pre amp, I am using the Modwright PS and LS 36.5 with mine and couldn't be happier. Anyone looking for this sort of setup really should audition, you won't be disappointed! GLWTS
  6. Item: Dynavector XX2 MKII Price Range: $1100 Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: I am looking for a Dynavector XX2 MKII moving coil cartridge either new, near new or used. If used then price should reflect same.
  7. I had one of these years ago, owned from new. Considered the best cassette player available in its day, and my experience with it was that it really was that good! GLWS
  8. Further information: This is a great little desk top amp/dac. I purchased this secondhand a couple of years ago with the intention of trying out headphone hifi. I didn't ever get around to it and only used it recently to check that it was working before listing. It only took five minutes to setup, there was a suitable driver on the Audinst website, so very easy to use. The unit operates from the provided USB lead. A separate power supply can be used if needed (not supplied). Instructions are readily available online Due to current Covid restrictio
  9. I have a Walker CJ55 turntable that I have owned from new, it is fitted with an Alphason tonearm. It is a very good table with some interesting technology for the time. Notably the platter material and the unusual wooden inner frame that it is suspended on. The motor is Swiss made from my recollection, it does not produce a lot of torque, so the platter will need a hand to start spinning. I have purchased belts for mine without a problem, but I see you have been able to locate one. Prior to the Walker I owned a Thorens TD160 MkII, the Walker in my opinion, and that of
  10. It looks like 24VAC 85mA is the specification. The AC adaptor that I have for it is 24VAC 350mA Note that it is 24 volt AC not DC. Thanks, Keith

  12. Further information: I have for sale yet another phono amp. This is a quality, English made, Rega Fono Mini A2D. It is a MM phono amp, is well made, very compact and comes complete with power supply and USB cable. As a bonus it will convert your vinyl to digital files, although I have never used that feature. Here is a link for extra information: https://www.whathifi.com/au/rega/fono-mini-a2d/review Photos: PLEASE READ If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads fo
  13. Thank you, I think so too! Having the flexibility to use MM or MC without the expense of another box is helpful.
  14. Further information: This is a nice, solid American made phono amp which can be used with MM/MC cartridges. Here are some details from the net: High performance low noise outboard mm/mc phono section. Rogue Audio preamplifiers are hand made in the USA. They feature exceptional quality in design, sound and finish. The Rogue Audio Stealth phono preamps hold musical truth high with speed and accuracy. Through the use of very high quality parts and skilled design, deep, tight bass and crisp, clear highs are uncovered from the depths of the Lp grooves as never befo
  15. Further information: I purchased these brand new from another SN member a few months back. The packaging has been opened and they are as new. Set of three RX-9 tube dampers for Preamp/ driver tubes 12AU7/12BH7 etc (according to Herbies website) More information: https://herbiesaudiolab.com/pages/herbies-tube-damper-comparison Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  16. Further information: I am selling a brand new Grado stylus which I purchased for my Vintage Grado Signature 8 cartridge. Subsequently, I discovered that I had ordered the incorrect one and I now have the correct one on its way from the U.S. I have been in contact with Grado and they have recommended this stylus, the MZ8 as being suitable for all of the current model chassis and as being best with the 8MR cartridge. RRP of these is $165, so if you need a stylus or want a spare this is a good deal. It is brand new and never fitted or used. The package was only opened to
  17. Further information: This is a very nice execution of the RJM MM Phono Stage. I purchased it a couple of years ago out of curiosity, since that is now satisfied, it is no longer required! Here is a link for more information: http://phonoclone.com/diy-pho5.html Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  18. Further information: The Black Noise filter probably made the biggest difference in my system, at a time when I thought that mains cables and filters would not make a difference! I now use an Isotek as my sytem has grown over time, which has six outlets and is more suitable for my present needs. There are lots of positive reviews out there, here are a couple of links: https://www.tnt-audio.com/accessories/blacknoise_e.html http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/systemsmagic/blacknoise.html The power input socket is a regular IEC plug. 19. Yes, for sale. WBT is the brand (not WTB). I think it means "Worlds Best Terminals".
  20. Further information: Cleaning up some odds and ends that I am no longer using. Here I have a set of four well regarded WBT spade connectors. I think the photos show the condition quite clearly. There are some hairline cracks in the clear plastic which does not affect their performance, and consistent with others that I have owned on very expensive cables. They will take a cable up to 10mm in diameter and the width of the spade is 6mm. In my opinion, these do made an audible difference being of gold plated copper construction rather than the usual gold plated bras
