  1. Been really enjoying the sound I'm getting from my tube phono preamp (Project Tube Box DS), having previously been using the Phono input on my Marantz 1030, and I'm now thinking I wouldn't mind seeing if I can do something similar with my streaming setup. Currently I just run my humble Sonos Connect into my Marantz. Any recommendations or words of warning for putting an external tube DAC in between them? Or maybe just a tube buffer? Thanks Marcus

All from this series: https://www.discogs.com/label/956425-Jazz-At-3313-rpm Quality is genuinely excellent and it looks like you can pick them up cheap enough now that people have been picking up copies through sales like these .

  7. Item: Price Range: $50-$100 Item Condition: Used Extra Info: Dont need anything fancy at all, Im just getting my friend set up with his first system and could do with a cheap pair of active speakers (small bookshelfs ideally) as placeholders while they shop around for something special. Location Collingwood and Flemington, happy to collect or arrange postage. Thanks, M Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
  8. Further information: Works perfectly. Very simple way to improve Sonos connectivity throughout the house. Includes power adaptor and Sonos ethernet cable. Cheers, M Photos: PLEASE READ If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved
  9. Item: Inner sleeves Price Range: Free Item Condition: Used Extra Info I bought a load of fancy inner sleeves over lockdown and have this stack of the previous ones if anyone needs them. A real mix of "vintage", nearly new, paper, plastic, square and half moon ones. We'll over 100 there in total. All in perfectly adequate condition, some are basically brand new. The knackered ones went in the recycling but I thought I'd check if anyone wanted some/all of these before they went the same way. Feel free to come pick out the ones you want. Pick up in Collin
  10. I picked these up a month or so ago when it was 10 records for $78 shipped (seems the be the same value as this one) and it's the real deal. All excess stock from the Jazz 33 1/3 collectors series. Properly licensed by DeAgostini and genuinely excellent quality pressings. I would recommend I first read about it here: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/zavvi-best-of-jazz-starter-kit-all-time-classics-albums-set-of-10-mystery-vinyl-lp.990763/page-3
  11. True true, may not have been a full recap. Might hav ebeen just replacing a few troublemakers!
  12. I did but more because it had a few small problems when I got it, a bit of buzzes and hums etc. that were all sorted. It wasn't like the soundstage improved or the sound sitself changed, ust that it ran really smoothly and much more quietly. If I recall correctly it needed some resoldering as well as the recap maybe, would have been around $100 for the work maybe?
  13. Yeah, I would recommend refurbing unless you are looking to make a significant upgrade. I found it outperforms the similarly specced Pioneers and Sansuis from the era. I had mine looked at and the caps swapped out when I got it, had nothing but good times since
  14. Item: Kenwood KD 550 or 650 Turntable Price Range: $500-$700 depending on condition Item Condition: Used Extra Info: Looking for something in good condition if anyone is looking to sell. It could also be a 500 or the 600 if there's a decent tonearm on it. Im in Collingwood, Melbourne. Thanks Marcus Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. 15. Hello hello, I've currently got a Pioneer SPL-100 which I've had for a few years and now I'm considering my options to upgrade it. I would appreciate some guidance before I post in the WTBs Budget-wise I'm thinking $500 but could go higher if there was a good opportunity to get something special. I like something very simple, no need for inbuilt phono stage, digital outputs or anything like that. The music I pay mostly 60s and 70s jazz/soul/blues, contemporary acoustic, ambient and also soundtracks. Lots of strings and vocals, played at low volumes! I like t
  16. Further information: The perfect portable DAC with MQA support I purchased it a few months ago from this very site as part of my WFH set up and much as I love it I don't need it any more. Has a few marks and the text on the back has worn off (see pics) Annoyingly I did have the original packaging and manual but can't find them. I'll include them if they turn up otherwise it will be securely packaged and the manual is available here Five star WH-F review: https://www.whathifi.com/au/audioquest/dragonfly-black-v15/review Photos:
  17. Now Spinning: My copy of Dominique Fils-Aime - Nameless which just arrived today. It might be the best sounding modern pressing I own. The recording and mastering is exceptional and goes the extra mile by being 45rpm, I cant think of another comparable pressing I have that beats it. Really recommend getting a copy just to hear how it sounds on your system. No affiliation to me at all. I just picked it up on a whim on Bandcamp Friday after reading the Discogs comments and liking what I heard on the BC page. https://singwithmi.bandcamp.com/album/na
  18. Topping MX3 or the D50s or I used to have on and really liked it: https://fosiaudio.com/products/fosi-audio-q5-pro-dac-converter-bluetooth-5-0-receiver-24-bit-192khz-optical-coaxial-usb-digital-to-analog-adapter-decoder-headphone-amplifier-mini-stereo-pre-amplifier
  19. Just tried an old HDMI audio extractor I remembered I had in the back of cupboard. Luckily it has a 5.1/2.1 switch - problem solved! Was one of these (branded differently though) in case any future visitors ever finds themselves in the same niche predicament! https://www.catch.com.au/product/simplecom-cm423-hdmi-audio-extractor-4k-hdmi-to-hdmi-and-optical-spdif-3-5mm-stereo-437643/?offer_id=501724&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj9q7gsXb6wIVwxwrCh0_8AREEAQYAiABEgKqg_D_BwE
  20. Thanks, found this one on Jaycar, will see if they have any stock or not: https://www.jaycar.com.au/convrtr-aud-dts-ac-3-dig-anlg-coax-tos/p/AC1634 I have indeed, works for everything except Netflix shows which for some reason still push a 5.1 signal through. Just got off the phorn with Netflix and they confirmed that you cant make stereo the default audio stereo. Will see if Fetch know of the issue as well. Cheers! M
  21. Thanks so much @DrSK and @betty boop Yeah the projector is functioning just as a monitor essentially. This is exactly what I'm looking to do! Would something like this do the trick? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Audio-Decoder-Gear-DTS-AC-3-Digital-Sound-to-5-1-Stereo-Analog-Output-Converter-/273314089964 Doesn't look like anything special in terms of quality but for this set up I just need the basic functionality rather than any particularly impressive sound quality. Just needs to be something cheap and small so I can tuck it
  22. I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue as this, can't find many similar experiences online and its driving me nuts. I've got a Fetch Mini + projector set up in my front room. The audio runs from the Fetch's optical out, through a cheap FX-Audio DAC, then into the RCA line input on my stereo. All works fine except for Netflix which always defaults into 5.1 audio whenever it can, which just results in loud static which is really annoying. Especially when it starts autoplaying something from the menu or the next episode in a series. The Fetch audio settings are set to
  23. I've ordered the TempoTec Sonata HD Pro which apparently is the same bit of kit but in different casing and rebranded. Looking forward to see how it compares to the Dragonfly Black
