  1. Item: Bryston BDA-1 DAC in silver (relisting with a lower price) Location: Camberwell, Vic (I am also happy to post at your cost and risk; I do have the original packaging) Price: $1050 (originally at $1250) Item Condition: Excellent, almost new condition. I only purchased it about 6 months ago. Reason for selling: No longer required as I have changed my setup Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This is the best DAC I have ever owned and I'm sad to see it go! IMO, it has wonderful detail and clarity without losing any of the warmth or musicality, especially when matched with the right components. I have been constantly surprised over the last few months about the number of times it has revealed something new in my music that I had not noticed before. However, I've changed my setup to Simaudio and I just can't justify keeping the Bryston DAC any longer. It is in almost new condition and comes with all the original packaging and manuals too. Any questions, please ask! Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  3. The M1 Pre-Amp is about 8-9kg according to my bathroom scale. Note that I don't have any of the original packaging so if you wanted to send it to Perth, I'm hoping you know a really reliable courier?
  4. I think so, it looks like copper to me, but I wouldn't know how to find out for sure.
  5. Items: 1) Audio Note DAC1 Signature 2) Audio Note M1 Pre-Amplifier 3) Audio Note Quest Single Ended 300B Monoblock Valve Power Amplifiers (Pair) Location: Camberwell, Vic 3124. Pickup only or you are welcome to arrange your own courier. Condition: Very Good – no major scratches or dents. Price: 1) DAC1 Signature = $1000 2) M1 Pre-Amplifier = $1000 3) 300B Monoblock Amplifiers (Pair) = $4750 All items were purchased about 12 years ago from a store called Absolute High End in Hawthorn, Vic. The store is no longer there, but I still have the receipts. I wasn't sure how to price these so I've set a price at 50% of what was listed in those receipts, which I thought would be fair and reasonable. Note that I’m happy to sell them individually or, if anybody is interested you can buy them as a whole package and I’ll take $500 off (so it would be $6250 for the lot). Reason for selling: Am actually reluctantly selling as these were originally bought by my father who is no longer with us. However I find that nowadays I very rarely sit down to play a CD (as sad as that sounds) so this equipment is simply not getting the listening that it deserves. Music in my house plays in multiple rooms from a variety of digital sources ranging from internet streaming through to networked attached storage. So I’ve decided to reconfigure my audio setup to suit life. Payment: Paypal or Cash on Pickup Info: As you would expect from Audio Note, this system (in my less than expert opinion) is beautifully sweet sounding. The clarity and detail is not lost, but somehow everything just softens like a warm blanket. I’ve also found that this system (i.e. the combination of these three specific components) seem to complement each other beautifully. I’ve tried swapping a different DAC or a different AMP in the past, but have always ended up back with these three together. It’s like they were made for each other (which I guess was Audio Note’s intention!). Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  6. I tried a few things but went simple as well. Carrying an extra device around was not an option for me. So I tried an Ultrasone NAOS DAC - which helped. Then I tried a variety of music player apps and fiddled with all the settings (currently running Neutron) on my phone - they also helped. Then I got myself some Westones and the world changed. I forgot about the NAOS DAC, and right now, will listen to any app on my phone...spotify, regular google play or whatever, on their default settings. It doesn't matter, I just LOVE the Westones. Of course it's all personal but my lesson learned is that sometimes you just find the one component that makes all the difference - and in your case I suspect the thing to do is to have your ears tell you if you are going to get that step change moving from one DAP to another DAP (but maybe it's a different component you have to try)?
  7. Might also be worth checking out the Taotronics ANC Bluetooth earphones. They are half the price, if not less, of most of the major ANC brands out there such as Sony, Jabra etc. My wife bought them for <$100 a little while ago on Amazon because she wanted something to cut out the background noise she has at work. I was expecting something terrible, akin to the really cheap earbuds you get packaged with phones. I was very pleasantly surprised. Bluetooth connectivity seems to work fine. ANC is OK (not great). Sound quality is a lot better than you would expect from a <$100 pair of buds (but of course not comparable to a really good pair of IEMs...but then you pay a lot more). I've been considering getting a pair myself just to have on plane trips! Anyway, I'm not selling them in anyway, just a left field idea to think about. 🙂
  8. OK, thanks wen and gary. I consider myself an enthusiast, but not an expert, and so I'm not sure how valuable my posts would be to anyone! Having said that, I genuinely have three pieces of Audio Note equipment that I would like to find a new, good home for. Any advice for me?
  9. Interesting discussion. I've been trying to figure out what's the best way of getting great sound quality on the go for a reasonable price (say $500- $1000 ish and without having to carry multiple devices). I tried an Ultrasone NAOS which I found to be pretty good, and better than my Samsung Galaxy S8 which is not surprising. But then I got Westone 30s which have put me into 7th heaven. And I'm no longer using the NAOS as well as I find a good pair of IEMs make a bigger difference than a good DAC. So my experience says to buy a phone based on what you need the phone for (general life companion nowadays) and then invest in some good IEMs / Headphones (instead of trying to find a phone to give you a great audio experience).
  10. I've been running JRiver for many years now, and love it. I've heard lots about Roon, but current thinking is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and I don't think JRiver is broke. My experience with JRiver is that it will do pretty much anything you want with both your audio and your video. However, it takes a bit of getting used to, lots of reading and a bit of head scratching to get everything setup right. Roon feels easier to use but am not sure. So just be prepared if you go down that path.
  11. Hi - just joining the site as I'm looking to make some changes to my audio setup. First step for me is to sell my existing Audio Note equipment which is a DAC1; M1 Preamp; Quest 300B Monoblocks. Will be sad to see them go, but it's time to try something different. Will post to classifieds shortly.
